What challenges have you faced in attracting your ideal clients? I'd love to hear about it!

I know we have talked about this in the past, but after watching this videos I think you’ve pointed out something very good… focusing on one area aka finding your niche. I think finding a niche can be mentally challenging, and could come with an emotional burden - happened to me - but with focusing on one area it feels less limiting. 😉

It can be so mentally draining to focus down. It feels contradictory, but we have to make a claim - one that helps to differentiate us, and one that can be challenged. You're completely right. It can be very freeing once you finally neiche down, things slowly and steadily start to line up and the pressure lessens.

Specialize! Yes. Nothing wrong with being a generalist, if that's what you want to do as a designer, then stick to it. However, when you specialize, you're saying "My expertise is in this stuff". Typically, a prospect will also assume you can handle other work too. You're usually not limiting yourself in terms of projects you could take on.

You helped me a lot back in 2019-20 I used to watch all your content. Now I want to start a merch design agency. Please tell me how you collect the payments like some designers/agencies ask for 50% advance then 25% after the project is done, and 25% after the revision. Another thing I would like to know from you is what software you use to deliver the projects and which platform you use to communicate with the client.

That's so awesome to hear! I appreciate you watching my stuff over the years! Payments depend on the client relationship. With long-term clients like merch companies, they usually pay invoices on a Net30 (30 days after receiving the invoice) or they may pay you every month on a retainer. For any other client, my go-to method is to have them pay 50% upfront to start the design process, then the remaining amount once the project is finished BEFORE I send the final art files. I do all my communication through email and use the "zero inbox" method to manage projects. I did a whole video about it: ua-cam.com/video/IcQehxFr69c/v-deo.htmlsi=v1yqcr3SHeP59n1-
To deliver files, I also use email. If files are large, I use an app called "Zight" to upload files, then share a link for the client to download them. Or you could use something like Dropbox.
Hope that helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out through my website. I'm happy to answer whatever questions you have. Take care and best of luck!
