I like the first one or the 4th one. The problem with the last one is that although it's very original, you don't really understand what the product is about unless you start reading the label, I like to see what the sorbet looks like before buying so having a preview image of the product that is inside would be better in my opinion.
I would grab the first one The colour palette is minimal and refreshing Theres a picture of the product that appears in a playful way The little sticky is negotiable and removeble And pink gives an airy feeling as opposed to the others that are heavy and sorbet is a light dessert
I like the sticky branch but it needs work. Can use optical scaling according to use/size. If done well the T-with-branch by itself would be very recognizable.
Definitely number 4 for me. Even though just the font alone isn’t too wow, as a whole for both the product and potential advertising and social media, that design fits the brief the best with its elegance
I Liked Hans' design the most. I thought it looked premium and really made you feel like it was a sorbet or ice cream brand while still showing that it has some sort of ecological, and nature elements to it. I thought the packaging looked good and I think it really hit the line between minimalism and realism good for me. Why I didn't believe in Pedro's Design as much is just because I didn't get the feeling of it being some sort of sorbet or ice cream. Felt more like a juice, or fruity drink for me.
I really love the Design from HarryGraphics. And the T with the little branch is genius - Not only does it say "Treeze" but also "Freeze" just with a mirrored F. This is smart and I think it fits quite well and this detail is not too small to recognize it.
I agree! I thought I was crazy at first because I thought the first one nailed it. The little branch on the 'T' is a nice touch, but could be reworked to look a bit more organic (instead of a straight line).
The reason why Miguel's logo works is... because it was a direct rip-off of the logo from a Portuguese food and beverage company called Compal. The original logo/branding of the company is really good. Maybe so good that he thought it was a good idea to steal it.
I see what you mean, there are a lot of similarities there, I don't think it was intentional but that's certainly something I've experienced before where a design I've been working on turns out to already have been done by someone else! And it's a reminder to always get fresh eyes on your work!
Anna diaz did it best in my opinion, idk about you will but I don't view it as vintage tbh, i felt the premium luxurious aspect in the whole packaging especially the font used in California blend and the color palette. I feel like the organic fruit sorbet circle adds a premium touch too to the playful logo which works perfectly in my opinion for a premium sorbet that is also ecological, i mean let's face it it's very hard to mix playfulness, premium and ecological into one logo but i feel like she managed to do so and still make it feel like a sorbet logo. Finally i absolutely love tue cherry leaves coming out of the ball of sorbet and i would love to see that in different flavours it gives a sense of uniqueness to each package which is always appreciated in consumable brands. For me she s the winner and the one who fit the brief the most
Pedro's logo is the best one, but Ana's or Hans's packagings are cleaner and feel more premium to me. Although Pedro's packaging is more original, it looks a little crowded. It's very hard to get that we are talking about Ice cream. And the color pallet doesn't fit well either. It's more like what we see on a graphic designer portfolio, than on shelves.
Everyone did such an amazing job. Looks like quality work! but I LOVE the second to last one from Hans with the tree/snow flake/with all the different types of fruit hanging on the tree. It's absolutely the best!
Another idea! When you’re doing videos like this .. could you give the designers the brief and have them come up with something and you come up with something as well ? I think it would be cool to actually see your take on the briefs that you have given :)
I really love Hans' design, the 4th one. I love the simplicity and elegance. The emblem in the logo is fantastic! It really pulls all the elements from the brief together. I like the limited color palette. It would be really easy to modify the palette for different flavors, which gives it more versatility. The 5th design just doesn't work for me. It's too busy with the wider color palette, and the design elements are too generic. It makes me think vegan cosmetics or hair care, not sorbet.
I think Pedro, nailed it! Great packaging and fun logo! The part that really sent me over, was the subtext! My experience is at bat companies love when their slogan fits in well. It is something that a lot of companies work hard to come up with, so again, in my experience, that would have won out! I really liked Anna’s as well!
Personally, I judge a logo by the impression it gives to make me remember it. Hans does that for me. Every time I have thought about these logos, the one that I remember first and more is that one. The way the Treeze is written looks like freeze and the snowflake tree thingy as well as the different fruits on the tree stamps the uniqueness of the product in my mind. Even though the way the tree stands dead centre, dividing the word into two, looks awkward, it makes the impression last more. I am sure anytime I remember Treeze, Han's logo will come to mind.
The last one definitely stands out from the rest, which would be a reason for me to choose it. It's always very interesting and inspiring to see what different designers come up with and I think they all did a great job.
before watching the video .the thumbnail made me think that i really want to open the first design and eat whatever inside it... eventhough the last is more professional but the typographical of the first one i still think is better...
Pedro killed it. Looks fruity & tropical. Miguel and Harry have very creative logos. Hans has great packaging, however, the trunk going between the EE really doesn’t do it for me and the fruit in the snowflake are a bit small. Anna should’ve put the snowflake hands on the T in white vs the red background.. too much red.
Nailed it about the tree between the EEs. However, funny enough, for me that oddity is what makes me remember the logo. You cant shake it out of your mind that something is wrong, so you keep thinking about the logo. Great for making something stick in people's minds. Lol.
I really like the first design by harry graphics. Coz its minimal, the typography is amazing, and the color itself represents sweet vibe which is very important. Coz color psychology really effects every human mind.
I m in love with Anna DS's design, after that Miguel's is not bad either. I can not understand most of the people's obsession with Miguels. Ann's design tells me a story about both company and product, I also loved the cherry image ,
Come on designers, its 2022 - accessibility is not only for the web. Your choice of light fonts on pastel colours will not be legible for many people. Keep a decent contrast.
I agree that Pedro seemed to nail it, the design was very fun and playful, it was eye catching and screamed "I have great flavor" as a consumer I would give it a try.
I love the last because it looks a lot like the brandings for açaí here in Brazil, which I guess you could say it's a very specific type of sorbet It's got that tropical vibe and makes me think of fruits and something refreshing (also the designer's called Pedro so I wouldn't be surprised if he was brazilian too)
What I really love about Pedro's design is that, because the R is so much bigger than the T, my brain immediately locks onto "R-E-E-Z-E... Oh, that must be the word 'FREEZE!'" which means I'm already thinking about frozen treats before I've even finished processing the whole logo
I saw the branch on the T immediately and understood the link with the tree. But didn't notice the leaf in the E before you pointed it out. I found the leaf less speaking than the branch.
With respect, the first one had the wonderful fat, snow⛄️like font. The second one, the font you love, I feel that the letters are overlapping and/or half hidden by the slanted burgundy colour, causing the reader to do more work. The third one has a nice, but “summery” logo, and the ice cream shot does not look appetizing. The fourth one is restrained, but works. The last one is the best.
WOW. Pedro's design blew me away. The logo type looks heavily inspired by Symphony. The logo type has a ton of character when I read it, I read it like how I would say something when I'm freezing, you know, when your teeth are chattering. Also AMAZING design and color pallete, there's a ton of elements that can be used for the brand identity and it used the 3D aspect of packaging very well. The others were all focused on the front but Pedro's design wrapped around the whole package. So in love with that color palette it makes the sorbet look enticing
The one on number 3 with the tree logo. Great logo design for the most part but not only have they used to many fonts but also the wrong type of fonts there’s no boldness there for a consumer to see what the brand is once they’re drawn in. I like the colours but there’s too much space left over, everything’s far too small and illegible. I’ve been in the packaging industry for 10 years and genuinely I’ve made these mistakes. If you’re wanting to get into packaging design, always know that you yourself are a consumer. You’ve just got to tap into the “why do I like this brand” mentality, You’ll figure it out!
Miguel's logo is actually a rip of from a portuguese brand called Compal. The leef position matches perfectly. I cant say for sure, but if you were to find out his location hed be from Portugal. Miguel is a tradicionally portuguese name
Hey quick question! I'm a college student who wants to be a graphic designer but I unfortunately majored in Business Administration. What do you recommend I do?
Self-study maybe? I've been a high school teacher for years and also decided to become a graphic designer, but doing the full study now is not an option. I'm still in the process of switching careers, but I'm already working on projects for family/friends of friends to learn and practice, which helps a lot. I've bought a lot of books about it, take courses, watch tutorials and practice all kinds of stuff. Maybe other designers would give different advice, but this is what I'm doing. :-) Good luck! 🍀
@@willpatersondesign That's really neat!! What learned business administration skills transferred over/helped you become a successful graphic designer? :D
Hans accurately captured the premium quality of your product. Pedro nailed the organic quality. The others I don't see working once different flavors come out.
The first one would've been perfect if the branch coming out of the T-tree were thicker at the bottom and thinner going upwards, like a thin triangle. That would've made it more resembling of a tree branch and more unique when it's only the T symbol
I honestly really dig HarryGraphics' design the most. It has that retro feel with the color scheme and font type, but modern look with the little branch on the T, leaves in the spaces of the lowercase E's, a very 3D-looking scoop of sorbet, and implied tree trunk just below the sorbet. Makes it look classy, which is the best way to describe luxury but on a down-to-earth level, in my opinion. Also, a classy style is ageless, so this design would last a really long time, with perhaps minimal changes made to match the times.
The font on the second one is…. I don’t know the word I’m looking for here. Messy? Confusing? The r and the z are almost not distinguishable from each other at first glance (The cursive writing). The font on the packaging looks like a total clumped up mess, and somehow the designer has managed to make the ice cream look like the wax seal used on that foolish book “The Secret”.
the problem of the last one is that i don’t understand that the product is a food and there isn’t any photos, any food stickers that make my hungry and make me wanna buy it
No, the reason for you not being a designer anymore is because you didn't charge enough for your skills. The reason I'm a designer is because I'm able to charge whatever I deem reasonable for the scope of work.
i loved the first and last one actually! however, although the last one is my favourite, i don't think they illustrate quite well the idea of the tree like the first one... but maybe that's not such a bad thing! i like how it illustrates earth itself
My favorite based on the brief and my own taste is Hans’ aka the fourth one. I think the packaging looks clean, the logo fits the brand, and I like the colors. The first one looks very child-like to me. It looks like something that would be marketed to kids. The second logo has the best lid, but the flavor name in the mock-up is way too large and I hate how California gets cut off. The third one reads very apparel or shoe company to me rather than food with the rough font. The last one looks like it would go in a Trader Joe’s, however the colors are a little dark, don’t read ice cream to me and make me think of tropical foods. It’s a little too busy in my opinion.
I watched with the sound off and just looked to see which package would get a second look from me. Hans, Harry, Anna are the only ones that looked pleasing to me. Dark gray on a fun food isn't my thing and I just don't love Pedro's color combo.
Thank you for the video! It would be even better if you could compile all the designs at the end of the video, making it easier for us to choose from and take another look at them.
I don’t ever really comment on UA-cam videos, but I’m always looking forward to your videos! I would like to see some videos of you designing something starting from sketch to screen. Maybe a live stream? 👀
The 4th one is so beautiful!! Very elegant and luxurious while also looking simple and inviting. 5th one is too busy for my eyes, there's something about that square in the middle that just doesn't blend in for me.
I liked pedro's the most! Maybe it's because I love something that's creative and I'd base what I buy to what I see as "pretty" or catching to my eye especially if it's in a shelf of different stacked products in a supermarket. Though, I would love to see maybe a picture of the actual product somewhere on the tub. But overall, I think they were all executed great but if these products were at the supermarket, Pedro's would've definitely caught my attention first.
Miguel's logo is actually a rip of from a portuguese brand called Compal. The leef position matches perfectly. I cant say for sure, but if you were to find out his location hed be from Portugal. Miguel is a tradicionally portuguese name
The key drawback to Pedro's is that it's not immediately obvious whether it's ice cream or sorbet. You have to hunt for that on the lid, which would often require taking it out the freezer as that info would be obstructed by the shelf above. Even then, the word "sorbet" is only mentioned once, and it's tucked away in a long circle of text in a way that positions it as upside-down to the natural way of viewing the lid (logo right side up). This introduces unnecessary cognitive load and interaction cost: users who struggle to read text upside-down will have to rotate the tub to find this info - especially demanding for those with dyslexia (~10% of the population). All that's needed is to get the word "sorbet" surfaced on the front face and rim (especially as the design is atypical for sorbet) and to position the existing instance more prominently on the lid with the same orientation as the logo. Other than that, love the aesthetic!
I liked the 4th one. My problem with the last one was that it doesn’t really feel premium. Rather like the own brand of the supermarket. I love the presentation tho, it’s pretty professional and neat.
For me Pedro's looks very tropical, warm. I'm not sure I'd want that for sorbet. I feel like the weakness of Hans' is that you can't scale it. You lose the fruits and snowflake in the tree if you shrink it. Harry's really fun, I can't really see it as premium. And yeah that little branch on the T just doesn't work. The packaging is really nice though Miguel's packaging looks premium it's just not as pretty as the others. But the logo works well. I really like Anna's logo type. The snowflake kind of forms a tree with the T. The packaging is really nice too. I'd pick her's
@@punusername3445 To me the tones make the product itself feel warm. The others use a lot of white which in comparison makes them look cool (in the temperature sense) to me.
Miguel's logo is actually a rip of from a portuguese brand called Compal. The leef position matches perfectly. I cant say for sure, but if you were to find out his location hed be from Portugal. Miguel is a tradicionally portuguese name
I think the package design for Anna DS was the best (I LOVE the typography) though the logo is a little weak. Pedro’s packaging was a close second but has the best logo
In my country the local premium ice cream has an all-over bright orange packaging. It's really ugly, but people are buying it regardless, and the whole idea is that you'll see basically from the other side of the store if they'll carry the brand :)
in the shop i often get tbh Mad bcause when i take the package i never seen before and read it either a) i dont understand type face or stuff or b) when BIG text dosent gv enough information: ?what is that product, what is in the package ?:D
everyone did an amazing job!! I like Hans' logo the best, and I like Pedro's color scheme the best. However, I will say I think HarryGraphics' is my favorite. I know what I'm buying, and it looks delish. :P
I really like Anna DS's packaging, I find it more appealing and also easy to adapt to other taste by recoloring while keeping the visual identity, but I prefer Miguel logo design.
I absolutely love these videos Will! However I feel like you should be making the artists names and links easier to find so that potential clients can get in touch with them and also designers and artists can check them out and follow their social media accounts 😁
We don't have their links, unfortunately as it's through the platform itself :) We usually do share them when we do similar videos where we have a link to their profile/portfolio - just not this one!
I'm not a designer myself, but... The third one seems to have the most interesting logo, though I wonder if it might be a bit busy with as many leaves as it has. The packaging for number five is, in my opinion, the best. It might be a touch busy, but it's very clean and is interesting to the eye. The packaging for one and two are nice, but the first one probably has a bit too much text in it and it makes it hard to know where to focus. Though the eye does initially centre on the logo, so that's a good point. The second one, other than the cherries and the logo I don't really like it. The blend of the text is interesting, but the font will probably be hard to read from further away. The thing I like about number four is that it's not overly busy. There's effective use of neutral space and I also like how the logo merges with the packaging, though the logo itself is a bit busy. EDIT: After reading PuppeteerNG's comment, I have to agree that it's a bit difficult to tell what's being sold with the packaging of number five. However, since it's going to be sold in the frozen dessert section, it's not difficult to tell what you're buying. But PuppeteerNG still makes a very good and valid point.
I really liked the 2nd one, I’d probably pick that one up in the supermarket because it’s really attractive! But I feel like the last one described the brief better, although I’d choose the 2nd
I don't know if the deadline for voting is still on or not, but I vote for the work of Hans which the 4th design in the video. Very nice, minimalistic, luxury and very good looking. Other designs are good as well but if I had to choose I would choose Hans' version. Thank you.

I like the first one or the 4th one. The problem with the last one is that although it's very original, you don't really understand what the product is about unless you start reading the label, I like to see what the sorbet looks like before buying so having a preview image of the product that is inside would be better in my opinion.
Kinda looks like it some Japanese instant ramen ngl. It's pretty though.
The 3rd and 4th were pretty similar imo
The last one yells "Christmas!" at me.
I would grab the first one
The colour palette is minimal and refreshing
Theres a picture of the product that appears in a playful way
The little sticky is negotiable and removeble
And pink gives an airy feeling as opposed to the others that are heavy and sorbet is a light dessert
I like the sticky branch but it needs work. Can use optical scaling according to use/size. If done well the T-with-branch by itself would be very recognizable.

@@willpatersondesign awesome!:D
@@willpatersondesign That's really neat!! What learned business administration skills transferred over/helped you become a successful graphic designer? :D
All artists were amazing with there work and their logos had their own Unique story✌🏻❤️
The Miguel one is a rip off of Compal, a Portuguese juice company
I love everything about the 2nd one, it's perfect
Hans accurately captured the premium quality of your product. Pedro nailed the organic quality. The others I don't see working once different flavors come out.
10:09 what’s wrong with the r? Would love a more in-depth explanation- also the 4th is may favourite!
I really like the one from Pedro but the first design makes me want sorbet specifically. So as an artist the 4th but as a consumer, the first.
Best series on this channel!
Thanks! :D
The first one would've been perfect if the branch coming out of the T-tree were thicker at the bottom and thinner going upwards, like a thin triangle. That would've made it more resembling of a tree branch and more unique when it's only the T symbol
Pedro, for me, make me remember of Ragazzo, a Brazilian fast food! lol
Last one: I stared putting the letters together, but they froze in the process.
The font on the packaging looks like a total clumped up mess, and somehow the designer has managed to make the ice cream look like the wax seal used on that foolish book “The Secret”.
the problem of the last one is that i don’t understand that the product is a food and there isn’t any photos, any food stickers that make my hungry and make me wanna buy it
the fact that you only paid $2000 for all this work is the reason im not a graphic designer anymore
No, the reason for you not being a designer anymore is because you didn't charge enough for your skills. The reason I'm a designer is because I'm able to charge whatever I deem reasonable for the scope of work.
@@willpatersondesign and you believe the $2000 you paid for this work to be reasonable?
i loved the first and last one actually! however, although the last one is my favourite, i don't think they illustrate quite well the idea of the tree like the first one... but maybe that's not such a bad thing! i like how it illustrates earth itself
Pedro work remember me of the Ragazzo, a popular fast food company in Brazil, the logo and the colors are really similar to the new visual identity!
I love the last one , anything with cool illustrations always steals my heart ! Yasss Pedro ❤️ !
I agree completely.
I did used to do livestreams like this, would be nice to bring it back!
@@willpatersondesign absolutely
Pedro nailed it what an eye catching design, well done.
The 4th one is so beautiful!! Very elegant and luxurious while also looking simple and inviting. 5th one is too busy for my eyes, there's something about that square in the middle that just doesn't blend in for me.
I like the last one! Pedro did a great job, it's eye catching 👏🏻
Miguel’s logo is something really memorable and unique. Don’t know why nobody is talking about it.
because it's a direct copy of a Portuguese brand called Compal, as many others are saying
I think the 2nd one looks pretty premium maybe its just the burgundy vibes.
Vote for pedro logo. Because the logo is simple attractive and scalable. And the packing and mockups he used is also great .
If you vote for him all of your wildest dreams will come through.
Pedro have the most memorable one , the logo , the color palette…well done!
I agree! It works the best imo 🌺 tough competition though I think the vote will be close!
Before the last one that is for best me colors and simple easy to read
These designs are insane
I'm so dumb. The snowflake reference is intentional😭
Hans was my favourite and his note really took a lot of clever things into consideration - felt like a proper consultation
I *love* the first and last ones. I would pick these up for sure.
the third one is very much like the "compal" logo, a juice company from portugal
Exato!! Ainda por cima Miguel é um nome super comum em Portugal. A posição da parte de cima das folhas é basicamente igual às da Compal
Third one is very serious. Also feels very tree centered. Doesn't. Wait. Is the logo in shape of a scoop of sorbet??
This is so cool
Miguel's logo is actually a rip of from a portuguese brand called Compal. The leef position matches perfectly. I cant say for sure, but if you were to find out his location hed be from Portugal. Miguel is a tradicionally portuguese name
No 5 makes me immediately think "Store's own brand"
The packaging is really nice though
Miguel's packaging looks premium it's just not as pretty as the others. But the logo works well.
I really like Anna's logo type. The snowflake kind of forms a tree with the T. The packaging is really nice too. I'd pick her's
You usually eat ice cream on warm days, no?
@@punusername3445 To me the tones make the product itself feel warm. The others use a lot of white which in comparison makes them look cool (in the temperature sense) to me.

I think the package design for Anna DS was the best (I LOVE the typography) though the logo is a little weak. Pedro’s packaging was a close second but has the best logo
I’d love to try the second one actually, looks good
In my country the local premium ice cream has an all-over bright orange packaging.
I would love Will to design his own logo before viewing these & then reveal it at the end.
Hey... here's a good idea!
I like the first one without the branch sticking out or the last one.
Pedro's design looks like something from a brazilian designer I don't know him but I can feel it
I absolutely love these videos Will!
Thank you.
