I call it "Pain Either Way." You need balls/orbs that deal damage to you as well as the ring of pain. The only boss that this might not work against is the Wall Boss in the castle. Otherwise, it could make the game a bit of a breeze, I've just been unlucky with it.

Is Peglin made by the same team as Dungeon Clawler? There are a lot of similar game mechanics there.
