BLTouch Installation Guide: Elegoo Neptune 2s

- Опубліковано 27 лис 2024
- Good morning! I bought a super cheap BLTouch clone, this guide will show how to get it running and also includes benchmarking, print tests and some a bunch of tips for using the BLTouch on an Elegoo 2s.
Some people complain about the BLTouch on the Neptune 2/2s but I'm pretty happy with it and think if this is your first printer you probably won't mind it using it.
I tried to include as much information as possible so you can choose for yourself.
If you found this video helpful or entertaining please like, subscribe and/or comment. Sharing would help a lot with growing the channel. Just getting started so it's easy to read and reply to you! Thank you for watching!

I'm watching this at 6am, thank you for being quiet.
im not really into the high energy thing, thank you for checking it out!
Absolutely the single most useful video for doing this to my own printer, as someone who's completely new to this world. Thank you sir 👍
Thank you very much, I tried to present as much information as possible so I appreciate the comment!
This is pretty cool. I like the music and the soft touch of your vocals
thank you!
@@MochaMameX who is singing, and what's the name of the song, please
do you believe in magic by Precarious Perch, I got it from Storyblocks so it might be difficult to find.
Thank you for the video. I was about to get a BL touch for my Neptume2S but this convinced me not to do that. I'm getting nice 1st layers just by leveling the bed by hand. This seems to be overcomplicated with not too much improvement.
Glad the video could be useful even of you decide not to use it. The improvement might be noticable if you print something large, but if you are already happy it's probably not worth. If you change your mind in the future after you set it up the first time it's simple.
Perfect, your explanations were a great help to me, it works perfectly thank you very much
thank you!
Hello, how are you? What is the initial gcode you used? I installed bltouch on my neptune 2 and every time before printing it does the self-leveling and asks again to put the zoffset, after that the printing starts with the cold nozzle and no filament comes out.
I'm good thanks, hope you are well too! My code is :

Actually there is nothing related to touch probe in the code. If you have code in the opening for touch probe try removing it, even if everyone says you need it, also make sure your firmware is updated.
@@MochaMameX thank you so much!
I updated the firmware to the latest correctly following the model of my motherboard (1.3) but whenever the printer did the autoleveling before printing, it did not go forward because the probeoffset screen always appeared. I ended up giving up and installing marlin, when I went to configure it worked at first, I ended up being quite satisfied with this firmware, because there are more useful options than those that come with the original firmware of neptune2
Thanks for the detailled video. Do you think 7x7 will be much better than 5x5? I am pretty happy with my results with a 5x5 mesh, but always look into ways to improve.
thank you! I wouldn't expect a noticable difference unless you had a dent or major defect in the build plate. It makes a gradient map from the points, so as long as there are no sudden changes between points it should be accurate.
give the heatbed 10min to preheat before probing and printing for better results.
@@MochaMameX I agree. I'm using a glass plate so it shouldn't change much for the print itself. The visualized mesh is much more detailed though.
One more question. Could u share your standard pla cura profile? I am wondering what retraction settings I should use and what quality settings, mostly in relation to first layer. Thanks
Great video! Can we get a comparison test print from careful manual level?
Thank you! I might not have time for a whole video but I can tell you at least. The main problem is with warped beds, if you use tape or paper to fix the warp then on a Neptune 2S the difference will be minimal. The real plus point for me is that it saves time and has high repeatability, I feel the accuracy of the auto zero before printing is higher with BLtouch than with limit switch. Also we don't need to do a careful level, just basic, so its easy to get good results with little effort. But if your surface is not clean, or your cooling is not enough you will still have issues.
@@MochaMameX thanks! I will eventually try this out for sure.
Everything is wired in, it's all set up BUT, I cannot find the files on the elegoo website, I can find a bin file but not a text file and my board is the ZNP Robin Nano V1.3.....help!!!!!
thanks for checking the video! easyupload.io/ok0sjt there are the files I have saved for my N2S v1.3, I recommend using the 'original' folder because I often play with settings in the 'mochamame' folder
Cool Video! Does it only look like it or do you print on the backside of your plate?
Thank you! The backside of the plate gives a nice smooth finish so I like to use it, but it is harder to adhere
@@MochaMameX I was just wondering, because I think the back is plain springsteel…
I think the springsteel is sandwiched between PEI coatings, both sides look a similar yellow color. www.ebay.com/itm/133949382872 here you can see an example. I'll ask Elegoo.
@@MochaMameX Have you got the normal Elegoo Neptune 2s plate or have you bought a new one?
I'm using the normal one that came with the printer
Was the printing at the start sped up or was that real-time printing? I am looking for a faster printing profile for my Neptune 2S. I've played around with some settings, but have not been able to get reliable results. Thank you for making this video. I want to setup a BLTouch as well, and this gives an excellent guide.💪🙌
Thanks! I think you'll have no issues setting it up. All of that first print video is at 1x speed 60mm/s. I wouldn't consider that print good, my settings were bad because I was playing with my profile. How fast are you trying to go? Over 50 and ghosting gets bad, but if you don't care faster is possible
@@MochaMameX Yeah, I'm trying to push it around 60 - 65mm/s, but I either need to do a few modifications somewhere, or I have to fine tune some settings that I might not fully understand yet. Like you've said, ghosting becomes a big issue. I tend to like good clean prints all the time, but printing something of medium size that takes 6+ hours I feel could be improved, just not entirely sure how.
without seeing the print it's hard to say about the slicing, but once you start pushing for more speed things like weight of the axis and tensioning/rigidity come into play more. Every small imperfections is amplified. If you're on Reddit you could send a PM and check it together, my settings need tuning too
Great work, thank you
thank you too again :)
The stock firmware is OK, but I'm running into 1 issue. When I adjust the z offset without doing a new auto bed level it forgets I am using a 3dtouch for z end stop and rams the built plate until I turn the printer off and on again.
last night I printed without auto leveling but didn't have an issue, it checks z before print and I use an offset of -1.46. It wasn't enough so adjusted to -1.48 but it worked as expected.
do you know your firmware version? some things were changed between older versions and newer versions.
Hi! Can you do a Video on a „easy-mainboard-access“ project? Recently I have been trying to use a rear electronics case (which also includes space for a Raspberry pi), designed by Michael from Teaching Tech on my Neptune 2s, which didn‘t really work… I was able to move the mainboard back successfully, but then the ribbon cable for the screen was too short. I think this would be an amazing video for everyone, who‘d like to mod their 2s. Thanks!
so you want to move the mainboard not under the printer? I have a plan to do this already so it can be moved higher on the list if it's correct. I got stuck on business trip for a 3rd week in a row so at the moment it will take a while.
@@MochaMameX Yeah, under the printer it‘s really hard to access it. It should be easy to access and there should be space for a raspberry pi (and maybe also the touch screen) nearby. I like the idea from teaching tech, but it has no place for the screen. (ua-cam.com/video/k83M5H796U8/v-deo.html)
@@Nevio_024 Ok this is what I had planned already except the R Pi, so I will include that as an option too! Thanks for the suggestions!
i deleted the system and now i cant install it anymore :(
thanks for checking the video! easyupload.io/ok0sjt there are the files I have saved for my N2S v1.3, I recommend using the 'original' folder because I often play with settings in the 'mochamame' folder. I hope this helps!
@@MochaMameX what do i do whit this file?
@@MochaMameX do i need to uplode it on the printer?
they are the system files, if you deleted your original files you can use these files to follow the video and install a touch probe.
@@MochaMameX okay i will try it tommorow
