I am Apache and I have seen the Apache Crown danse one time. We paid for them to come up to NYC. There was no noise, no photographs, no stands; instead we stood in a big circle around them. It was dark out and you felt the mysticism around the danse. It was not a spectacle, it was treated as such. It was the first time for them to travel so far. It was an experience I will never forget. It was AMAZING!

Thank you so much for your comment , it makes clear things . Yes its unrespectful to treat this very anciens and deep wisdom culture as an entertainment, and it just prooves how stupid those évent organizers are, including thé people in public making noise no respect.
It is just a sheaame for those american people, and today in 2022 i believe you start to see conséquences

What a honor for them I'm sure. Wish I could have seen that, they raise such a feeling of wonderment, I'm not sure of what the dance means. But it is beautiful.

@@cappystrano1 where does he disrespect the natives? It is clear that he thinks that the tumult around these dancers is disrespectful and that the ritual should be respected and that it is not made for mass Entertainment.

@@cappystrano1 doesn't mean that he had bad intentions when he wrote that. think about it. It was meant as respect to a ceremony.

Some people just dont get it! this is TRUE for all social dances that are performed out of CONTEXT of the sacred! the songs are NOT the real songs sung in actual ceremony, the way dancers are dressed, and the markings on thier bodies are NOT the actual ones.....THOSE ARE ALL RESERVED FOR THE RESPECTIVE TRIBES THE DANCES COME FROM........this is just to show other non-tribal members and non-natives about dances that tribes perform....so by all means, I think Mr. Tahonnie HAS RESPECT FOR HIS TRIBE

i love the danse and i do enjoy seeing the crown dancers- i am a navajo, but i didn't like the shouting. i thought it was disrespectful for people to scream and shout during the dance. Its not a show- it is a ceremonial danse. It is sad to see that in our generation, sacred dances are now being used for show- won't be long til yei bi cheiis will be performing at rodeos and everyone will be shouting. huh.........

If you wanna listen to their music you can only listen to it when it's winter season. Plus you can't take pictures or record them.

I can recall Navajo Nation fairs throughout Dinetah, Eastern-Western etc., as far back as the late 80's and NO Mr. Joe wasn't even performing then so to all the Apaches that are getting upset about this just recent...Get the history first. They came to Dinetah with sacred songs/chants way before he did.

I think as this guy talking is not respective of apaches. It is much easier to find "apache crown dancers" on youtube vs navajo " yei bi chei" dancers. Its because navajos protect sacredness fiercely, and thats good, but treat apache crown dancers as a novelty. I love my navajo culture, and a word to apaches.....if this is that sacred to u u would make sure its kept that way.......

I was also taught this way. The RIGHT WAY. There are Rez’s who will close the Rez due to Ceremony only. No outside traffic ..But I’m getting old and the old ways are disappearing. I am Ndé, not GAAN but I have an understanding how the choices are made. But never is meant for anyone other than very very personal. This new age has made the bastardization much easier.

@MikArc they’re not lost because we keep it amongst our people and teach it to our people, and it keeps being passed on, etc. Some tribes have lost their way and traditions making our sacred dances for show and not for the higher purpose they’re meant to be for in the first place. We do it to connect and honor our ancestors, to bring protection and abundance to our tribe and most importantly for gratitude to great Spirit our creator.

This is just my opinion but I think it makes perfect sense that the dance and songs that are being performed here are for exhibition not the actual ones as a number of people have pointed out. There are many UA-cam videos that have been taken down because it showed actual sacred dances on film. The histories and illustrations portrayed in dance and song as well as dress were simply awesome to behold. Coming from my own culture one can grasp and understand although in some small way the relationship we have with mother nature. Kia kaha, Mauro ora.

once i was a white man's son raised in the concrete jungle adopted by the boogie man who enslaved his adopted children to horrible acts of violence and sexual torture for 12 years of my childhood from a young age till my first rear of my teens one day i had enough and shot him dead after they took me away then the state of california adopted me i became a ward of the state in my life i have made good friends with many younger gang members throughout california i would be the only juvenile in southern california to stand as the indian car the first to stand next to the crips the bloods the 18th streeters the inland empire the riva surs the italians and the wires i grew up side by side to the state's most vicious men now ranking in the highest levels of most street gangs today i grew up in the center point of all south central gang violence of the mid eighties and 90 drive by shootings every day a new parents on the curve with his head blown off pockets turned out with a lump of grass in there hands i myself did the first mass school shooting with a high caliber pellet gun targeting only teachers i was expelled from two school districts all by 16 cuz afre 16 i was locked down so bad i played handcuffed n shackled basket ball by myself then i worked on the las vegas strip for 12 years every day talking to everyone it was my job but then i snapped i realized i'm missing who i am i made the best of the life i was allowed to have its just something in me that's not going to put up with bull shit lies schools tell us come on i was the only native boy with distinct native features that i could be the poster boy image so searching is a understatement i road native in juvie prison right but native is in your hart we got no shit like now there was no native tv no native anything but crazy horse beer remember that crap ewwe that shit is crap served cold might as well drink pruno but as i said i left a great job cuz i wanted to find me so i took my cirt skin ass to the california's land of grapes northern california found my father first time ever we spent exactly two weeks togather before both of us were looking at life in prison my time was a total of 160 years 9 violent strikeable offenses all harvey wavered and broke down to 6 with 85 percent 4 years parole no good time allowed my father gor recardo m time thats preison level three like me but ten flat no percentage at all so i started my jurney when the other racess shot callers gave the indian shot callers a heads up on who i used to be you know the gang members i knew as a kid grew up tobe bigger gang members of southern and bgf koomi and the black hand but i got a chance to join red power as a high level inforcer in san quentin state preison cux my 85 percent i could only get a da referral no more time just new sentencess so i spent alot of time doing politicial reading researching our ways our inter tribal life styles found a few ways to change our ways even better ways to get things going what out laws with the goverment where i ralliesd behind the few things we have today i still have more seeds to plant these are jusr gifts that i have to gve my native people gifts for certin people who need these powers to change their lives and our also but as a member of the real red power movement that is also the strong warriors for our brothers and sisters of aim the americian indian movement red power created alcatraz isliand 1972 as the words red power where panted on the hospitol wall befor interview i was glad to invilve myself with red power i was givin the task of starting the red power warriors iron house crew creating a safe and respectful support for native issues training in street adaption the drug addiction of reservations and protesting of todays seventh generation warriors i am fire tender to the woumb and water warrior earth warrior and sky warrior i also am a minister and i also think that any open hand to a lost brother or sister is better than a cold shoulder to thoes who speak of the white man of non indians the people who chastize other like those white who cakl, them selves cheroke or the ones who are native but whos parents have relocated due to goverments programs the felons and the drug addicted ones i speak for all of the unknowing ones to the boogie man on your rez to all the bad ass skinz that ever been to jail i am the only warrior with the balls the brains and the backbone to say im that one man all your rez riders fear to the point of running i alone can put that fear yur rez needs and the creator knows why im free why im walking open with out no chains ,its cuz he needs me to he needs my pe rson to show you boys n girls what it is to have a stand up warrior not just talk but like our elders whom we hold as heros i am not afraid to die cuz no matter what thay do i still will be reborn a indian savage when i dire i die as a native americian man they cant change this first of brothers n sisters we from your super max federal prisons and your super max state prisons like pelicon bay shue want to know why is mr peiltir still doing locked up when he won his own freedom more than ten years ago why have not all native and non native supporters went up and made them release this man who won his freedom if you say its not that easy then you are part of the not making it easy part cuz sure its gonna be viole nt sure its gonna be bloody sure some will dir but those who do will have history as great men who stood befot evil and got to give all they had we can not alow the goverment who is working for you to violate our rights as native or americian peoples and whats with this w ater stand off are we a bunch of pussies fuck the standing off shit we occupy shit brothers n sisters n whats with this face open shit do you want to get fucked with like trudells family he bearly lived it out we dont try we do we dont protest we take we dont sing we scream our war cry but its not just a weekend thing its a everyday thing if your looking fot fame like the aimsters then go to the movies we in it for change things die things get hurt in change but i strive to be reconized as native where ever i go on or off the rez i also strive for a new dna version along with the old version of native americian rolls with a back comparosion of non native dna resualts removing all non natives and any disputes about native quantum levels a dows rolls with only dna proof to have the unites states goverment as restitution for hundreds of years of kidnappand assemulation offer free dna testing to every americian who thinks or is to be known as native americian if your not then you are billed the price of the dna test if you are the feds eat that cost but the feds will link you back to your familys your clan your tribe with out any contesting from other members of that tribe that bieng said cuz in some casses members would naturaly bump so,e out of certin moneys or land tirles some skinz are pushed out do to greed its a everyday fact but bring back the ones who where taken movaccas vision this is a red power message keep our harts open are arms wide but our knives in each hand peace

That is why is say respect the wishes of that culture you are trying to honor.
