I am thankful for having all the people watching this dance. My older brother, my Vava, Steven, sponsored this dance; and I am very appreciative of what he has done for everyone, and for all families.

Reminds me of the dances in Laguna Pueblo. My brother and I would go to the plaza and sit on the wall to watch the Deer dances. Smell cedar and pinon burning from the homes and fresh oven bread and red chile stew. It be a cold day hearing the drums and singers. Miss those days.

Very cool to see! We Mexicans revere the Yaqui version of the deer dance. It’s a symbol of the Mexican state of Sonora which of course borders Arizona. The connection through the southwests people’s is real. Also fascinating is possibility that Aztec tribes (The Nahuas) where at some point connected with the Hopi if not their direct descendants. Aztec codices depict the Hopi nation and talk about how the snake tribe separated from the Hopi at one point going south. Our connectivity is bigger than we know! Much respect!

That's one thing I wished I could have known with my tribe, I can not even speak the Chickasaw language. I believe the Irish came from the tribal Celtic people. Celts and Natives had similarities. If you read history of the Irish, their history mirrors Natives very closely. From being colonized by the British, the catholic church trying to rid both people of their culture, language, names. Even Irish kids were taken by their parents and forced into boarding schools where they were treated brutally, just like what the Natives went through.

its cause the spirit needs to live, let those who have forgotten, hear and see this, to remember it again...join others in song and dance.
if not out loud or in motion, in that true spirit that brings us together, help teach those young ones.

As for having a teacher ,
to understand different languages with God's mercy
    Try to understand mercy
    I was given
    Sunrise, was Deer hunting
    I can give deep thoughts
    Speak for myself.
Blessing , this word has different meanings to others.
    Received blessing,
Many times, not say a word to any man or woman
Received great blessing on a personal experience to know as asking a Father yes he listened. This dance to me personal by each one there need for others not asking for gain.. As one to feed his family, others to share.. away to give thanks to those animals to give their lives their ways is guided .
Being grateful for its life. the dance of the deer.
    As to give respect ..
Give thought to whom they are asking .I listen to, very grateful people deep and so personal.
If I said thing out of line
    Not said hurtful..
    On that cold morning
    Sun light its warmth
Touching the very tops of the trees, the frozen top pops and cracks as the sun slowly
Came up. The sound was moving could follow as it movement . The warmth touches the earth
Without God's helping me to understand
    His blessings, an mercy
