      Amen Marlene, people say that another of my favorite group Earth Wind and Fire lead singer Phillip Bailey has the best falsetto voice, which I agree. But I believe Mr. Russell Thompkins Jr. it just as good or even a better falsetto voice! My God a voice like that come maybe once or twice in a lifetime! And he still sounds as good now and the same voice as back then over forty six years ago! God I love his music and the Stylistics. I keep on saying they don't make music like that anymore, romantic music, voices like that with an orchestra on the background, God I've got many of their songs and listening and buying their music since 1974! Bless you Mr Russell Thompkins Jr with one of the best falsetto voice of all time!

Also, nice to hear him educate a lot of folks who didn't know that only Airrion sang with him on the original records. Barbara Ingram, Yvette Benton and Carla Benson sang background on all those records.

    • @nancywood9531
      @nancywood9531 3 роки тому +2

      You are correct ..Dee Dee....Eddie Kendricks told him he had to stay because too many people depended on him. If he had left in 73 Thom Bell and Linda Creed would have been thrilled. They wanted Russell to go alone with different backup singers. It should have been Russell Thompkins Jr and Stylistics back then. This interview was 9 years ago and he is still performing.

    It's long overdue for Russell Thompkins III to be officially recognised within the music industry for his grossly under-rated vocal contributions in the 1970's. Conversely, I've no idea who "Nisayah" is, but she should never have given up her day job. She's quite possibly the worst interviewer I've ever had the misfortune to see anywhere, let alone just on UA-cam... And trust me, there's some really really bad interviewers out there folks :-(

    • @leonknight4906
      @leonknight4906 7 років тому +5

      Yeah but Russell is the VOICE of the Stylistics. Back up singers come a dime a dozen but great lead singers are rare to find. Too bad Russell didn't beat those backups before they copyrighted the name of the group. His group shouldn't have to be called the New Stylistics.

    • @nancywood9531
      @nancywood9531 3 роки тому +1

      This story is the same from everyone who knew the facts. When Russ left so did band members and Kenneth T the music director.. Raymond johnson who still sings with Russell now. Eban Brown left also after few years. He couldn't take imitating and following in footsteps of another. Good for him.

    • @nancywood9531
      @nancywood9531 3 роки тому

      @@leonknight4906 man you said it right Leon. He i's the Stylistics and recorded the songs not them. He made the group famous not them. But they travel with concerts and the songs Russell recorded but they hire Eban to imitate Russell. Cover group. When he tours he is the real deal...the real Stiylstic. Not them! It's all backwards. And they contacted him to return when Eban left . Haha. That was a big NO WAY....

    • @nancywood9531
      @nancywood9531 2 роки тому +1

      @@leonknight4906 that is really a true fact! But Russell never intended to sing again but was hounded by original members of band, fellow singers, music director of original group to start back up singing.
