    I see a complicated process, to use this tool, I thought that the process would be automatic, i.e. Insert the plugin and ready to adjust some parameters and already, but I see that it requires more time of normal, the value of this plugin at its cost, is free! Thank you for this, but there are other tools more practices and fastest on the market, I have two that I use regularly and are more easy to manage and saving more time, even so thanks for the tool, and sorry for my requirement.

      +Jacob Resch You don't have to use MochaImport+. It is just the most convenient workflow for using it. I will show alternatives in later parts of the tutorial series (in particular part 4).

      +Jacob Resch If you don't want to wait, for the rotoscoping you can use the technique shown in this tutorial using the AE mask tracker and KeyTweak (which is a "name your own price" tool, so you can also check it out for free if you want). mamoworld.com/tutorials/how-refine-and-correct-mask-tracked-mask-tracker-after-effects

    Thanks for the tools guys. (I've purchased tracking bundle... now was just giving this a whirl.) Any idea why I'm getting a kaleidoscope of colors when I apply it? The image should be unchanged... but the high frequency precomp is a mess of colors instead of just the details on grey.

      Thank you for this feedback! I never heard of such an issue. Could you please open a support-ticket at aescripts and best attach the project such that I can check what is going on?

      You have to "purchase" it here, by clicking the "add to cart" button: aescripts.com/skin-retouch/ But the default price is $0, so this purchase will cost you nothing.

    Over complicated and really built to sell another mamoworld product (which is an excellent product, no doubt)... but this process just seems over-complex for a plug-in. This is how I'd do thing manually... but if I'm going to install a plug-in, it needs to be less work -- not the same amount of work.

      David G., You make a good point, this product does seem designed to sell Mocha Pro. And chances are, Boris FX will bundle "Beauty Retouch" in the next update of BCC's suite of plugins. By far the simplest plugins to use that are designed to create better skin tone/ skin surfacing, are "Beauty Box" by Digital Anarchy, and "Beauty" by Genarts, that comes with their Sapphire suite.
      Compare these two plugins with "Beauty Retouch", and it would seem this plugin was developed by Mammo World on commission from Boris/ Mocha. Furthermore, regardless of Mocha's over promotion, I find it ridiculously fussy and complected. I do not know about you, but I just don't like Mocha's "toothpick spline" roto tools; I would much prefer to use "Silhouette" for my roto work.

      Note that Boris FX have their own plugin "BCC Beauty Studio" whose functionality goes way beyond our Beauty Retouch. We don't try to compete with these way more powerful plugins by Boris, Digital Anarchy, Genarts or Sapphire. We offer a solution for artists who have no access to these way more expensive solutions and still want to automate a part of their process.

      Mamoworld, Thank you for your reply. It is interesting that you begin by endorsing Boris FX. If nothing else this confirms what David Good and I suggest in this thread; that in this particular instance Mamoworld have entered a commercial association with Boris FX.
      I have some comments to make on this matter. Firstly, if "BCC Beauty Studio" is so "powerful" (and if by powerful you mean it has the ability to create beautiful results, I would disagree); why would Mamoworld's add-on product come in to being?
      Secondly, I am puzzled by your comment, 'we offer a solution for artists who have no access to these way more expensive solutions and still want to automate a part of their process'. For where "Beauty Retouch" is a free plugin, it requires Mocha Pro (at a cost of around $700 USD in the US, and around two hundred more outside of the US) to create its best results.
      Thirdly, the plugin "Beauty" from Genarts "Sapphire" suite has been on the market for about three years. Without question this drag-and-drop plugin is the most sophisticated of its kind, and even includes a "skin pore" sizer in the interface. "Beauty" was developed as a response and competition to Digital Anarchy's "Beauty Box". Then with haste and little imagination, Boris FX followed with their "BCC Beauty Studio"; a confluence of plugins that frankly, still look like a work-in-progress.
      To my eye, BCC plugins come nowhere near the high standard and innovation of Genarts "Sapphire". If anything, Red Giant's products are the next contender.
      Boris FX' purchase and tacked-on integration of Mocha in to their BCC plugins may have promised much. I am still not impressed; for at the heart of their plugins are prosaic, crude aesthetics.

      To answer your first question: Our product came into being because we noticed that there is no easy way to setup a frequency separation in Ae. We didn't do this for Boris FX - they are not interested in it since they have their own solution.
      Second: You don't need mocha Pro. Everything I show in the tuts works perfectly with the Ae bundled version.
      Third: I just compared our solution to Boris FX. Their functionality goes way beyond ours (and is more expensive). Same for all the others you mentioned. I didn't compare all the other solutions, but it is fine that everybody has a different preference.

      Thanks for the clarification. My intention was not to belittle the product -- I was just expecting something a bit easier, since that's what I've come to expect from Mamoworld products... and this just seemed a bit more complicated than what is required of other Mamoworld products. That's all. I think this would be a nice addition if someone were doing a few retouch items... and, as you've pointed out, there are other (much more expensive) products out there for those who need more automation.

    I recorded a quick 10s selfie video to try this out. I have Mocha and Import+ but I'm new to those plugins and the video kinda glosses over the Mocha details process. It says to select all masks and "use MochaImport". Ok, I assume you mean click 'Track in Mocha'. Doesn't work. I have the masks in the soft layer selected as instructed, but MI+ keeps saying "selected layer contains no footage and cannot be tracked". That's not correct. Help? Thanks!

    • @mamoworldae
      @mamoworldae  6 років тому +1

      Hi Todd, Mocha cannot track precomps, you always need to select the original footage layer for tracking. Skin Retouch created precomps and those precomps cannot be tracked directly. So best drag the original footage as an additional layer in your comp, add the masks to this one and track it in mocha. When pasting the animated masks from mocha back to Ae, you can paste them on the soft layer even though this is not the layer you tracked.

      IKR? I kind of wanted more of a click, adjust and done. This requires a lot f extra work. Hence the free price I guess. I'm using Cosmo from Red Giant.

    He seemed to built this thing for Photoshop rather than aftereffects.... Wake up man ! Pictures move in videos ! Better use Magic Bullet Cosmo.... best I've seen for this job

      HELLO you just saved my ass about 20 hours of work by offhandedly mentioning Cosmo a year ago, thank you kind internet stranger!!

    • @BlackWinterProduction
      @BlackWinterProduction 5 років тому

      Magic Bullet Cosmo is a completely different tool which isolates the skin colour, not details. I have been searching for a Photoshop-like professional frequency separation workflow in AE for a long time, and Skin Retouch does exactly what I need. Also, I found that Cosmo is perfect for work on the bottom ("soft") layer. so the smoothing can be based on colour isolation without the need for tracking. Which means, these two tools work great together.
