I gotta' say, everytime I find a video on the subject, the Scarlet is always the reference for the interface. I just got a Shure PGA58 dynamic mic and have been debating on whether or not to go the less expensive route or go the extra mile and pick up a legit interface. Every time I get that much more confident in the interface option, especially the Scarlet.
I was wondering why the port is a circle , I needed an audio interface that connects to XLR, and that circle port can be used for XLR. Thanks for answering that in the video, though I wish to have a close up look if the last cable is really an XLR cable.
Bought the HOSONGIN USB to XLR Cable you mentioned, connected my Shure SM58 and the level is fairly low, probably have to use a microphone preamp like Cloudlifter or ART tube pre-amp/ Clean Box Pro to boost the mic level!
@@kettnercreative so what’s the workaround? ART preamp is as pricey as an audio interface (even cloudlifter is), so there is no point in using an XLR to USB cable then!
Please show close ups of Scarlett so we can see all buttons. Does turning on +48 affect both channels? Can I use a condenser and not condenser at the same time?
Got XM8500 with the xlr USB, and the sounds is so small you have to speak very close to the mic Audio interface will be needed if you want to have a loud and better quality and if you want to connect it to your PC.

Great video. I've been using the Shure MV7 for a few months now and have a USB direct connection to my PC. Works great! But now I'm adding a second mic for guest speakers, the Shure SM58. Using the Scarlett 2i2, is it simple as just plugging in the second mic? Will I be able to record audio using both mics?
There is a big difference between a XLR to USB cable and a USB to XLR cable. I don't think the cable that you want actually exists. It wouldn't properly power the yeti. But we did put this video together with some tips: ua-cam.com/video/Il07ZqUd8PE/v-deo.html
I have a Samson Q2U usb, but it also has an option with XLR as it came with an XLR cable as well, I currently just plug the mic with usb into my pc and it sounds good to me. I'm curious if the XLR will make my voice sound a lot better to where you'd say you'd recommend buying an audio interface to make use of it?
Suppose we have got an audio mixer instead of a microphone, and want to use the aux out of the audio mixer ,and send it to USB port of a laptop for mic input . Will this simple USB to xlr cable be an ideal solution ? Or do we still need an audio interface for stong signal? Is it good for Skype or zoom app for mic input from an aux out of an audio mixer Please guide me

My problem with XLR to USB preamps is that some of them don't do much amplification. Example: MXL R144 connected to MXL Mic Mate Pro. Quality is awesome, but signal going to computer is way to weak. I'd spend the bucks on a preamp like you're showing if I had a sense it would do any better. What specs should I look for?
Thank you for a good video. But if you compare a good USB mic to pc and a good XLR to a audio interface. Which setup will give a better wuality of voice.
The USB mic vs XLR mic comes down to one thing, IMO: Modularity. If you want to eventually upgrade components and experiment with different mics, get an interface. If you just want to sound better on Zoom or Live Streaming, get a USB mic

Hello friend, forgive my translation, I'm from Spain and I didn't understand. Could I connect a behringer dynamic microphone with a usb cable of the same brand to an Asus Laptop PC without needing anything else? I hope your help, greetings.
Thanks bro. Very helpful.I didn't know an XLR to USB cable for dynamic mics can work. So an interface is really useless for dynamic mics going into a computer?
Not useless. I would say an interface does a much better job, better quality components etc. But an XLR Cable is an inexpensive way for you to test podcasting (for example) on a low budget. It doesn't provide a ton of gain and has some hiss compared to an audio interface.
@@kettnercreative I'm even more ignorant: 15 years ago I had an USB to XLR cable, but IT was only for controlling DMX lights from the PC, so All the ads for such cables I presumed was for DMX!

I want to get a good quality sound for listening. What will help me? Can you please tell me? Is buying an Audio Interface will give me a better sound quality than onboard output?
Too many factors for me to say for sure. Depends on the software you're running, if you're using live FX while recording or not, how many other programs you're using, CPU speed, etc.
Is there an a xlr to usb cable under 25$ that would get my sm58 to 100%? i don't really need an interface so it's a better option for me to get an xlr to usb
Bro ..I have a maoano au a03 microphone and I can't understand which sound card that will be suited on my mic and please say very lowest price in best sound card ..and can I use full xlr cable on my xlr to usb mic ?
There are a couple workarounds, but it's not generally recommended. The best way to do it would be to connect a 1/8 to dual 1/4 cable from the headphone jack of your USB mic into an audio mixer. currentprice.io/14_to_dual_18
You can connect the headphone output to the input on an audio interface but there would be no benefit from this and would simply introduce more noise to your recording.
What a pro. Simple, straight forward, no rambling, concise, informative, educational, friendly, considerate of the viewer, etc.
