thanks for the tutorial - but why do you work in 8bit when you´ve got a raw-file to start with? it could easily be converted from - in this case a Nikon nef (10-14bit) - to 16bit. if you work with curves wouldn´t it be better to have 65,536 brightness steps per channel than just 255 in 8bit?
