    Love the video! By far the one part of a good snare sound that gets overlooked the most.

    There was some good info throughout. However, I noticed there was a failure to mention snare bed accommodation for the wires. Some brands or make/models have larger, smaller, more narrow, or deeper snare beds, and this can impede some strand counts to perform their duty properly. For example, a narrow snare bed may not accommodate a 30 or more strand wire set up

    really liked the 30 strand wires the most! really think it gives more projection of the drum, more body, & tons of punch

    The 30 strand wire is the BOMB! It sounds amazing with the band. I tried it on my mapex snare, I don't think I can go but to 20 strands.

    This was SUPER helpful. Thanks so much for the video. I've only been playing for ~1year and wanted to improve my snare sound. This was great! I'm off to buy new wires :)

    I had high expectations when I bought three types of Puresound. I had difficulty with tensioning them without choking the drums, because of their length. Then I tried the Tama Super Sensitive Hi-carbon Snare Wires, they are a bit shorter in length and tensions up nicely... on any snare drum, either thick plied or slim... with wider beds or narrower... I will never buy snare wires without noticing the length first... !

    How could your guitar vids be so good and this drum vid just an ad for puresound
    More wires more snare sound-less wires more shell sound
    Sound engineer story only means your old snares were worn out , stretched , bent etc and did not sit flat . The pure sounds were new and sat flatter thats what took the buzz out
    I like puresounds-and use them-but they do not cure buzz unless your current wires are messed up

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 4 роки тому

      True. I prefer Tama wires. I’ve found that I get no wire contact on where I prefer my wire tension and by the time the Puresounds give me any snare response the drum is choked.

    Now just gotta do something about the ringing of that snare shell. Maybe an extra vent hole opposite the factory one.

    • @NintenDub
      @NintenDub 3 роки тому

      Yea a vent hole is going to fix everything about the fundamental ring of a snare drum

    The equalizer and/or compressor settings for the demonstration are clearly different.

    whats the sound difference between steel and brass wires.

    • @leeschmitz993
      @leeschmitz993 7 років тому +3

      BASS MARINO steel has a crisper, drier sound, and is more sensitive to brush strokes, while brass has a warmer, darker sound.

    for upgrade my pearl sensitone snare drum maple, what do you recommended me? twisted snare wires series or blaster series?

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 4 роки тому +1

      I would go with Tama 20 strand High Carbon wires. The regular Tama or Starclassic are both great wires. The Puresounds don’t sit as close to the head which forces you to increase the tension which chokes the drum. Puresound used to be my favorites but Tama are my go to these days.

    rob and tobe, i have a classic yamaha 9000 steel snare could you advise on the best snare wire?

    • @IMKINDOFABIGDEAL13
      @IMKINDOFABIGDEAL13 6 років тому

      It's really personal preference. More wire equals more snare sound. I would advise moving to a bare wood snare. No paint and no shell wrap. I like a 12 inch snare that's 9 inches deep. Built with floating hardware.

    Not really giving a sound comparison of the different models, i.e. 30 strand compared to the 16 or the equalizer. The very point why I wanted to see this video. Just a commercial.

    PURESOUND WIRES ARE NOT THE WORST BY ANY MEANS - BUT THEY ARE NOT THAT GREAT EITHER. AFTER THE COMPANY WAS SOLD THEY WENT DOWN HILL A BIT - GO WITH GERMAN MADE SNARE WIRES THEY ARE WAY WAY BETTER WIRES
