The fact that it comes with a cleaning kit just sold me. I’ve had the same Bones bearings cleaning kit for 8 years and over the years it’s gone sorta nasty gross. It got the job done but I’d like to get another set of ceramics and a new cleaning kit so it’s a no brainer to buy these next. Thank you for this video!

I spray electronic cleaner that evaporates, a quick rinse with alcoh, then lube with Speed Creme.

Wasted my money on this device that just made the bearing keepers dry and start disintegrating into the bearing slowing down the balls.
Ruined my bearings should have just oiled them instead
    DO NOT BUY 🖕

The bearings in this video weren't designed to be spun dry. Resist the urge to spin your freshly cleaned bearings if they aren't lubed, it's very bad for them.

I sometimes don't oil it after cleaning they sound better , the oil also attracts so much dirt

If you’re shieldless you shouldn’t us oil at all as it attract dirt, I honestly think all dry bearings run better regardless. Bearings don’t get hot enough to need lube. This isn’t an engine, unless you’re long boarding and regularly going 30mph or more.

Which solvent do you think works best? Isotropal alcohol or acetone? I’ve never used isotropal alcohol

Isotropal is more mild. Unless you had major rusting and were trying to selvedge them I would stick with Alcohol. .

Just bought this kit. It has a major flaw in that the top doesn't actually snap into the unit. Two reasons I think this is bad: 1) There is no easy way to keep the two pieces together... I think this will be a constant annoyance. 2) I thought about keeping spare bearings in the kit. The only way I'll be able to do this is tape the top on, which is also pretty annoying. I'll probably buy the bones bearing cleaning kit because at least it screws together to be one piece. Bronson could probably modify one mold and then remake the second to add a snap to close lid for version 2.0.

I cleaned my wife's bones bearings and when I put the dust covers back on just as shown the bearings no longer spin freely. I don't get what I'm doing wrong. Any advice?

It could be one of a number of issues:
      1. The seals may have been bent- some bend easily.
      2. you're installing the seal on the wrong side of the outer or inner race (some races are uni-directional.)
      3. The bearing cage (or retainer) was installed on the wrong side relative to the race and/or seal.

    • @rotorhead5826

Yes, they generally require a specific lube.
