Otto Frank was a very smart man. Fleeing Germany when Hitler came to power and building the annex before hand in fear of going into hiding. He was definitely a man who put his family first. Hes the type of father I aspire to be one day.
I’m really annoyed by how people are saying that quarantine is like what Anne was in, not it’s not ! Yes you are stuck at home but you’re no hiding nor are you sleeping with bombs exploding few kilometers away
Natasha Whitmore I agree. I mean it’s frustrating not being able to go anywhere but we still can if we have to. We just have to wear masks and social distance. When it first happened I thought of Anne but things were so much harder for them. I wonder if they will ever find out who betrayed them. I would have loved to have met Anne. She and I both love to write and were brought up by similar parents and some of the same values and beliefs. I dream of being a successful self published author because of her I am never giving up that dream.
And we don't need to eat rotten potatoes and canned food. Also they had only one radio as a mode of entertainment. Here we have TV,laptop, phone,Xbox, etc so we should be glad we are not like her
I will never grow tired to hear or read about Anne Frank's story...I have such great admiration for her! I thank God we all got to know her through her writings.
I’m nobody to just say how Anne Franks father was feeling. But I think do understand. When he found out Anne wrote a diary he was so hesitant to open it, let alone read it. A flood of memories and realization came to him making him so happy and sad all at once. I know he was determined to make Anne’s dreams come true. In an impossible way to explain I really do understand in my own way
There should be a history class just on Anne frank seriously so much history in just one person it’s amazing. Her book was really good every time I see it I remember reading it

When i was in class 7 there was a chapter called the diary of anne frank... so i will say that many people do respect her and paste her diary as a chapter in school... i read it in literature chapter... i respect her too...
Yes. Absolutely reading it for English class is not enough. I can’t believe some folks think she didn’t exist and her dad wrote the diary. Everyone should be inspired. There is no doubt this young woman had an impact on millions. Rest In Peace dear Anne. It’s sad though because they never found anything Margot wrote. Her story was important too.
Even better if they had emigrated to Switzerland. Some of their extended family survived in Swiss. Unfortunately, Otto Frank tried to unsuccessfully to emigrate to USA. But listening to so many stories, once the Nazi dominated and took over Poland, it was extremely difficult to emigrate. Timing and location were paramount to surviving or evading the Nazi regime. So many who went into hiding were eventually caught or betrayed.

A little over a year ago my mom bought me Anne’s diary. Reading it inspired me to start my own diary only a few days before I turned 14... and I decided to call it Anne :)
But why would she be in your thoughts every day? Thats just obsessively weird. I walked past the sites of a gallows, famous political events and ppl, statues of same and a few Royals. But to think of one every single day, dude see a psych
@@ozdavemcgee2079 Are you serious? How can you not understand? Perhaps you should 'see a psych' about your lack of imagination and empathy? OK, so what I think the OP is saying is that when she walks past the places associated with AF, sees the buildings and reads the names of the streets named after her, etc, Anne inevitably passes through her consciousness for those moments. As well as, of course, the consciousness of the thousands of others who visit each year or live nearby. Anyone who's read her diary or heard her story would feel the same, to some degree. So, in a way, Anne got her wish that the thoughts and feelings she poured into her writing might mean that she would live on in people's minds and hearts after her death. She had hoped to live on and write books and articles one day and that she could make people happy that way. She didn't know then, that it would be her diary for which she's be remembered, and people would be so sad to know from reading it what happened to her and her family. But because of Anne and her diary, the victims of the terrible crimes that were committed against the Jews and others in WWII have been forever made real and human, and simply unforgettable.
One of Otto Frank's closest friends was his college roommate, Nathan Strauss, son of one of the founders of Macy's (and nephew of Isidor Strauss, who died on the Titanic). Otto actually worked for the Macy's in New York for a while until his father died and he returned to Germany. When Otto was desperate to save his family, he contacted his old friend Nathan in the hopes that he could use his political pull to help them get into the United States. By all accounts, Nathan pulled out all the stops, but despite his considerable pull, was unsuccessful. Ironically, one of the factors working against Otto was the fact that he was a decorated veteran of World War I, in which he fought for Germany; the country that turned so cruelly against him and his family. When this failed, Nathan tried to get them visa to Cuba, and this was also unsuccessful. And we all know, the Franks eventually settled in Amsterdam, which was the beginning of the end for this family. I can't help but think of what might have been if things had worked out differently for the Franks and so many other people who were murdered during the Holocaust.
I do miss Miep Gies being mentioned. Without her the diary would never be found, kept and eventually published. She also together with her husband gave Otto a place to stay for eight years after the war. Until he married Eva Schloss her mother and she became a step sister of Anne Frank. One recent detail I discovered is that Miep Gies (like Eva Schloss) came from Vienna, and this probably saved both her live and the diary. The SS officer in charge of the raid of the achterhuis also came from Vienna. Once Miep heard his accent she used this fact to have a better change of surviving.
When quoting her diary when she had just arrived at the annex she said “and as you can see, I’m still alive” it was as if Anne Frank was speaking these words in 2020. Yes Anne you sure are still very much alive and instead of hated you are absolutely LOVED by the world.

So glad I found this. Just shown it to my 13 year old son the day before we actually visit the annexe in Amsterdam. Remember Anne was emaciated, starved and was made believe the Germans were winning the war. She thought all her family were dead, now that Margot died days before.. It broke her spirit. Typhus is deadly, and it's said Anne was losing her sanity close to her death. She threw away all her clothes and was wrapped in just a blanket in one of the coldest Winter's in history, and was crawling with lice. The whole ordeal obviously broke the girl, and her sister Margot. Their naked bodies were later thrown into mass graves. It's absolutely crazy the whole thing, and all because they were different than Hitler's idea of the right society. Madness!
Peace to All: I'm way passed middle-age, and saw the dramatized version of Anne Frank's story when it first hit the cinema. She was portrayed by actress Molly Perkins, along with a cast of other notables of the time. Thereafter, in school, I read the play. Later, with other adults we heard from survivors that presented Anne's point of view, through the readings, analysis, and explanation of her perspective (and why). Instrumental in expanding the story, is also taking a look at interviews with Miep Guise. She and her husband initially helped Anne's family, and additionally those that sheltered with them, for the time. Miep survived the war, later hid Anne's diary, which was eventually revealed, analyzed, and rendered for publication. I utilized the information and extremely intimate account of Anne Frank's Diary, which details and describes aspects of her experience. As an educator, writer, and lecturer, I feel learning this story is indispensable. It reflects the direct essence of so many, through the ages. Other individuals, and groups since ancient times, sacrificed and suffered similar fates. There's a wealth of material produced the world over, which was generated by this young woman's account that it will affect generations to come. Anne Frank's [Anna Frank's] aspirations (were) are no different than any young adult's, desires, goals, and hopes. Accordingly, she had a mind to be a writer, and an author in her life time. She kept this view against extenuating odds, circumstances, and tragedy. The odds were unfortunately against her. It seems when we relive her story, as her voice speaks to us, we want her to achieve what she desires, and we're urgently compelled that the outcome would be predictably different... Historically speaking, she has posthumously achieved her goal! Next: Previously, some of my students read excerpts, and saw the documentaries on Anne Frank's life. Subsequently, they were able to author and produce some of the most exceptional projects! Their work echoed their own experiences during this COVID-19 pandemic: curfew, lock down, isolation, depression, social distancing, prejudice, discrimination, racism, socio-political injustice, and death! This was incredible, and pardon me for saying so. Their comparative analogies, and personal stories were based on what they learned about this young dynamic human being [Anna Frank]. They also disregarded some of the detractions they learned about the story, in general. At best, those things were considered unimportant, insensitive, or obfuscated statements. Obviously, they were intelligent enough to comprehend that their experiences during COVID-19, were actually nothing like the trauma, systemic torment, murder, inhumanity that Anne, her family members, and all others like them were subjected to. It was the ultimate insult to all that it means to be a human being! This was a horrid, and despicable stain on the time line of human history. Regardless of Anne's personal background, religious beliefs, and practices... she was human. Her life and the lives of others still resonate, and speak to us; there she is in space and time, in real life, briefly captured on film, in an array of photographs, in the words, and letters [original and translated words] of what we know to be her diary. There's her innocence, her smile, her bright face, her soft features, her expressive eyes, the dramatization of her life, that of her family's, friends, and acquaintances... Finally: Do we hear, do we listen, do we know, do we acknowledge, do we comprehend, do we see, are we voiceless? There's a key in all that she says, and it summarizes some of the injustices, and man's inhumanity to man that still prevails to today. I thank everyone for allowing me to express my views and opinion. Peace Be Upon You All!
I love learning about this. One of my favorite movies . I would have hid people. How could people be so brain washed . And not stand up to them . I would have . Please post more like this thank you for posting this

Well it has been for a long, long time, even way prior to this and on faaaar grander scale, and with 77 billion "animals" and disgustingly "normalized", but now people are waking up.
The Frank's won the World Hide & Seek Championship for 4 consecutive years! Lord Lucan has since beaten the family's illustrious record but has never shown up to collect his medals either.
We just see how hate and discrimination plagues one community to the next, regardless of race, ethnicity or religion. Our students are on this unit now and they are beginning to make connections in their real life/cultural history to Anne Frank's life.
I honestly wonder how she would've actually felt about having her diary published. I mean it did accomplish her goal of living beyond her death, and it's definitely a really important artifact from the holocaust, but as a 13 year old girl reading her diary I thought I would feel mortified having my diary published.
This is an extraordinary diary and an extraordinary young woman. Anne heard the BBC broadcasts from London of the exiled Dutch royal family and Prime Minister including appeals for diaries and notes to be retained for post war understanding of living under Nazi occupation. It inspired Anne to revisit her previous entries, be critical about her own writing and revise them. She kept her original diary and an edited improved version i suppose in line with her journalistic aspirations. Her father eventually published a 3rd version with some of the more very personal elements removed, not only being concerned about her daughter but also for details concerning others, especially considering the proximity in time initially. The full diary is so excellently written and so effectively opens a door to Anne’s mind, character and desires, that the reader concludes this is a most important humanitarian artefact needing to be shared as widely as possible. And that Anne would be proud to have that legacy. I urge anyone to read the full diary if they haven’t already.
Great video. I recently read in Anne Frank's best friend's book, Jaqueline Van Marssen, that Eva Schloss didn't actually know Anne at all before...An interesting read.
She had to deal with that for so long, she survived throughout those times and if she had survived just 7 more months, her life would have changed for the better...
Reading some of these comments it appears that humanity hasn't advanced from the dark days of the 40s - the Third Reich, when all this happened - people more concerned about the cat, stating that Anne never existed, etc. How sad!!! The scary thing is many can't imagine how such things could have happened then - but I am afraid that they can still happen now - overall, the world hasn't gotten any better. God Bless those rare souls like Anne, whose beautiful spirit rose above the madness and bless those who tried/try to make a difference.
I never understood why Mr. Pfeifer couldn't share a room with Peter. He and Anne should not have been in the same room. She was a young teenager, just developing, she did not need a grown man in her room.

Chloetjuh was there proof that she even had a romantic relationship with hm? Weren’t they just friends
You are sick. Anne was only 13 years old and Peter was 16. Just because they were hidden away together, doesn't mean they should get married. She was a bit young for you to even be mentioning that. Plus I think I heard that Peter was gay?
@@fourthright how dare you?! If your really think there is no heaven then there is also no hell!! Why are you so disrespectful to the legacy of good people who’ve died!!?
heartbreaking story. so brave of her and her family. never forget
When Otto was given Ann's diary he removed things that she said about her mother as though she loved her dad but in such close quarters with her mother there was discord.
Yeah
Anne frank as well as every other person who was involved in the annex is true heroes Anne is looking down from heaven probably jumping for joy with the success of her book. RIP....
My school is learning about Annie frank and we watch this
My sweet young nephew calls her "Annie" Frank as well.
You got a lazy teacher hahah
I love Anne Frank’s stories
i didn't know a thing about Anne frank. till my sister asked me to film this on the ipad as a covid memory, now i know everything and i really want to reas her book!!
Can you imagine if she'd known all of this? That she became a symbol.
She became some bitch with a diary.
You know that says more about you than it does her Brandon

The fact that they lived to see D-Day, but were betrayed less than 2 months later, was heart-breaking.

She will always be remembered as a strong and brave person.
Hiding 2020 : We have been on lockdown for more than a month!
Anne Frank : I have been in HIDING for TWO YEARS
Hiding 2020 : I feel so bad for myself
Anne Frank : Seriously man? >:(
We've been in lockdown for nearly a year now:)

Nazia Mogra... Thank you very much for sharing this video, It is well narrated,
Excellent!
It's amazing I saw the move Ann frank
Eva Schloss was arrested on her 15th birthday (11 May 1944)
Cynthia Horrix yup
I would never get tired of hearing Anne frank Madd respect for them especially Anne frank thanks to her im writing my dairy seen i was growing up ❤❤❤❤ i really looked up to her soooo much
If she knew her dad was alive she would have survived
I agree, she would have had something to hope for, but keep in mind, she was sick, maybe not as sick as Margot, but definitely in very bad shape.
Yess , so true. Her spirit gave up in the end. She thought that her whole family was dead
Haha. Yeah okay.
Madness!
Anne frank created the hide and seek game many children play to this day. What a legend ❤
When I read the diary I was thinking why does it say Van daans somewhere and van pels 😅😅😅😅😅 now I know
Lavanya Sanker she changed their names
Van Pels was their real name. She changed it to Van Daan when she started revising her diary
Peace to All:
I'm way passed middle-age, and saw the dramatized version of Anne Frank's story when it first hit the cinema.
Anne Never Died She Lives On Forever .R.I.P. Copy and paste this on any other documentaries you see about her
really heart breaking about anna frank hard to watch
I love learning about this. One of my favorite movies . I would have hid people. How could people be so brain washed . And not stand up to them . I would have . Please post more like this thank you for posting this
How could people have been so brain washed ? Look at whats happening today.
Otto eventually became Eva's stepfather. Eva is helping to keep Anne's memory alive.

I love you Anne.. you are alive.
My country was also at war. I think Anne will touch our hearts and she will live in our hearts.

I had this theory in which I think that if Anne knew her father was alive, she would've fought longer for her life.
Poor girl😢

I believe she and her sister died od typhus which causes very bad diarreah ,which weakens the body after so many days of being untreated. It killed a lot of the consercration inmates. .Look it up!
This is truly Fascinating , Courageous, Emotional , Heart breaking , What a Lass ! This is so upsetting. Let’s hope history does not repeat itself 😥
Well it has been for a long, long time, even way prior to this and on faaaar grander scale, and with 77 billion "animals" and disgustingly "normalized", but now people are waking up.
Not 1 should suffer, but #colonialism?
Anne was such beautiful soul..❤❤❤❤
its so sad couse if they had stayed hidden for at least a few more months they may have been able to survive
What hurts the most is that the Franks boarded the last ever train to leave Amsterdam to the concentration camps 😢
I love Anne Frank. I want to help her, get her a bicycle and tell her I love her.
What she lacked in looks, she had in talent. Such a young prodigy!
The Frank's won the World Hide & Seek Championship for 4 consecutive years!
Lord Lucan has since beaten the family's illustrious record but has never shown up to collect his medals either.
I love her😢💖
We just see how hate and discrimination plagues one community to the next, regardless of race, ethnicity or religion. Our students are on this unit now and they are beginning to make connections in their real life/cultural history to Anne Frank's life.
Nazis, this is a very informative documentary, and I'd like to see more from you. The Anne Frank characterization was spot on too.

I am sooo interested in this!!!
I honestly wonder how she would've actually felt about having her diary published. I mean it did accomplish her goal of living beyond her death, and it's definitely a really important artifact from the holocaust, but as a 13 year old girl reading her diary I thought I would feel mortified having my diary published.
True,
Especially the part of sexual matters
Anne aspired for her diary to be published and had been personally editing her diary for publication prior to being discovered and perishing.
The saddest bit in the story to me is when Anne said goodbye to her cat, Moochi
yes that was sad but im pretty sure that wasnt the saddest part😀
Moortje was the 🐈 cat's name.
So sad RIP Anne Frank and her family's
im sad about how she died god may bless anne in heaven is that annes rreal voice cause i like it
U r rocking those eyebrows!!!!!
Thanks for the vid though . It was well made and easy to understand.
Why couldn’t Margo share the room with her sister?
Patti Burton Salmonsen because Margot got her own bedroom and be to much noise I think but does it matter
Margot shared with anne until mr pfeffer moved in the. Then margot had to share with her mum and dad
I never understood why Mr. Pfeifer couldn't share a room with Peter. He and Anne should not have been in the same room. She was a young teenager, just developing, she did not need a grown man in her room.
