I’m sure each of us at one point looked at life early on with the pure excitement for what’s to come, only for most to settle on a typical career outside of the creative arts. Me, all of a sudden having so many thoughts about creative freedom:
Creative freedom necessitates the absence of external and internal constraints; whether imposed by governments, institutions, societal norms, commercial interests, or our own self-doubt and limiting beliefs. It allows individuals to push boundaries, challenge conventions, and pursue unconventional or controversial ideas. However, creative freedom is not absolute and can sometimes collide with ethical considerations or legal boundaries. Balancing the preservation of creative freedom with the protection of individual and collective well-being is critical.
Overall, though, creative freedom provides the space for experimentation, risk-taking, and the exploration of new artistic territories. Creators thrive when they have the freedom to follow their instincts, explore their unique visions, and convey their messages authentically. Creative freedom empowers individuals to express their unique identities and experiences, leading to greater self-discovery and emotional well-being. I believe the quality of life correlates with (among other things) the amount of freedom one has when it comes to their creativity.
By providing an outlet for imagination and innovation, creative freedom fuels not only artistic endeavors but technological, medical, and structural advancements, in turn, stimulating economic growth and cultural vibrancy! Preserving and promoting creative freedom is crucial for nurturing an effervescent, inclusive, and dynamic creative landscape that reflects the diversity of human experiences and aspirations.

Sam, this is probably my lowest point in my career so far - I'm 3 years in and finally getting an idea of what I want to do and the stories I want to tell. But finances are going to crap, my car just blew up, and all the work I've been putting into my business the last year hasn't been fruitful (yet). I've just been feeling really down lately and the message in this video really helped me remember that I never know when something good will happen, and I need to keep pushing to create the best I can for whatever project I'm a part of. Creative freedom to me means helping others tell stories, and making amazing relationships and connecting on deep levels with other people, all while being financially supported to do so.
bro yes thats a down fall but from here its only up , im a creator from ukrain we lost all our gear and home a year ago we had to flew the country and start fresh from scrash , no help just camera thats in the phone , just as easy as car blows up our life as well , hope u doing better by reading this , we all are in crap place untill we realize that where we are is where we need to be to change for good for our lifes and life around u

Well, I certainly do. This video really hit me because I've been through something similar.
A couple of years ago, I posted a song I made on UA-cam, and someone from Disney noticed it.
That opened doors for me to compose music for Star Wars and other cool projects. But most importantly it changed my life, allowing me to drop out of high school at 17 and pursue the life I truly wanted.

Creative Freedom for me as a filmmaker, I am free from restrictions, regulations, and other influences, which is an exhilarating state of unrestricted imagination. It gives me the ability to bring my thoughts to life, unapologetically venturing into unknown territory, pushing the bounds of what is possible, and expressing profound ideas that have a tremendous impact on both my audience and myself.
*Creative freedom for me is having the freedom to tell stories through making videos and taking photos by my own rules, ideas and creativity without the fear of not being good enough for not having the complete gears or knowledge to create. Just creating and sharing to the world your art style and then grow from there.*

For me, creative freedom is when you are living life on your terms and doing what you love and are passionate about in a way that you are able to provide for yourself, but in turn are able to provide for others by giving back to the community and inspiring others to follow their dreams.

Love how you connect your story with another creator that Artlist supported as well! Creative freedom means I can wake up still have peace in mind that I can create anything I may want. Creative freedom is like a throwback to the good old childhood days. Just going out with your friends, experimenting, doing dumb stuff without knowing the outcome. Just enjoying the raw moments and endless possibilites in life without having the pressure to perform or to disappoint someone else. No matter how small and simple things might seem, in the end these raw moments reveal themselves as truely priceless. Same goes for creative freedom. As you said "one story can change everything". Creative freedom to me means this... more time to tell stories that will inspire others to do the same. Whenever I feel stressed or that there's not enough time in the day with my normal 9-5, and I'm tired, watching one of your videos always helps motivate me to just keep going. Sam, I've been going back and rewatching a bunch of your videos recently since I finally started sharing my own content. Your page is by far the most inspiring of any that I'm currently watching. This week, I've been the most optimistic about my content and my future in this space that I have ever been and I owe a big part of that to you.
Creative freedom, to me, is getting out of my own way. It's finally allowing myself to pursue a passion that I've had for years, but never acted on. Creative freedom is eliminating the obstacles and barriers in front of me, whether those are physical or mental, and not letting excuses stop me. Creative freedom is letting loose and creating what brings me joy, because if I'm full of joy, it's that much easier to bring others joy. Creative freedom is freedom from myself.

Five years ago, during an outing, I tried to make a travel video. It was the video that made me realize I could tell a story with my phone. I bought some equipment, watched a lot of video tutorials on filming and editing. And that journey has led me to a new career. I was very happy doing filming and editing. But sometimes, the pressure from this job, the unreasonable requests of customers make me hate the job that I used to love. I realize it's been a long time since I've used the camera for personal projects, for travel, or for capturing family moments. Instead, I only use the camera for filming when working with my clients. I realized that I needed to find my creative freedom again. That's why I started this job and kept doing it. Thank you Sam, your stories are always interesting and inspiring. They help me a lot when I feel lost and disoriented at work. 😍

Hi, Sam! I'm in the middle of highschool right now and I've never felt so lost. I came across your channel a year ago and it was you that inspired me to start making my own films. Filmmaking and creative expression definetely helped me out with finding my own way. Though I'm still struggling with that, I see that life has so many opportunities waiting around the corner and sometimes you just have to follow your passions and you will find your way. Creative freedom for me means having the chance to make films that I'm most passionate about, bringing my ideas, even the silly ones, to life and telling my story, not the one others tell me to.

Creative freedom is born when there are no foreign agendas, deadlines, or specific budgets. You bring to life an idea that originated only from your being. You never feel limited by your resources, and your passion fuels the execution. Artlist is a great partner and facilitator to polish, and even elevate your story.
To me, creative freedom means having the liberty to explore the uncharted territories of my mind and to express the thoughts, feelings, and ideas that stir within me in any medium I choose. It's a journey of self-discovery and a conduit for growth. Creative freedom allows my unique voice to resonate in the vast symphony of existence.
First of all, hi from Germany👋🏼. And thx Sam for all your videos, appreciate your work and love to get inspired by your cinematography. For me creative freedom comes in many forms...but i think the purest form, is when you got inspired or have a idea that you personally love and isn't payd work. Sometimes it starts with a Idea for a transition, a real story you witnessed or a person that inspired you. In those situations, where time doesn't matter and you are only drivin by inspiration..... You can let go and just feel free to do what you want. ... I think that is the creative freedom everyone seeks.

Creative freedom is the North Star that I'm using as a guide. I've always been busy capturing stories. Starting with making skate videos of my friends back when I was 12 to now shooting campaigns for brands that I've been a fan of for ages. Yet, being a chronic migraine patient with vision loss, it's hard for me to commit to creating for others since I never know when my vision will drop. Anytime a migraine starts, my left eye loses vision for hours or days. At those times my camera helps me process my surroundings as my creative drive doesn't leave me.
Over the last couple of years, I worked on getting my MFA and creating ways to hopefully eventually be free to make what I want and live off of that. Being able to travel and create the stories, objects, publications, etc. that I love and want to see in the world and in people's lives. One of the things that has become super important to me and is a huge factor in my artistic practice is tangibility. Since I can't always rely on my vision, I create my work as prints, zines or anything that I feel makes sense for the subject. These then spark my ideas for my videos again which creates a beautiful loop of creation.
I'm not writing this to get your sympathy, it's just my daily reality.
I just wish for anyone to find a passion as I have found mine! And I hope that one day my North Star can guide me to a place where it all turns from dream to reality.
Creative freedom means pushing the boundaries of storytelling and seeing what I can get away with. “How edgy and different can this possibly be?” Creative freedom is putting myself on the line and giving it my all for a single message or emotion. It’s hitting the road with one small backpack and a camera, being inspired by a new journey and finding something in it that the world around me might be inspired by, too.

thank you for the deeper thoughts you put into your videos. They leave a good feeling of things that can happen in life and to appreciate that.
To me creative freedom is to be able to execute ideas and changing everything on the way. As circumstances change and open new doors, you learn, get new input and the good idea you had, becomes a great video or great photo or whatever you're creating. Being able to do that, playing with the serendipity that emerges from that act is creative freedom.

It is creating without fear of judgment, knowing your work has the power to positively impact lives. Even if it goes unnoticed, you can be proud of creating something meaningful. That's what creative freedom means to me. It is something I am actively trying to step into more and more during this season of life.

to me it means the ability to create things that you not only feel proud of, but also allows you to share an experience. For instance, anyone can create a video about a trip but to create a video that you passionately enjoyed making, where people who see it can feel the emotions, and even feel like they were there themselves. Hey Sam thanks for always inspiring individuals like myself, without you some of us wouldn't be here. Creative Freedom is something really special and has a lot of meanings to people but for me, creative freedom is about going out to create that one film that's been stuck in my head for countless hours, being able to go out and film it with my closest friends and creating something so meaning full, something that'll stay with your memories and your heart for the long run. Being able to inspire others through my own films thats what creative freedom means to me. Thank you Sam for this video! The story of these two really touched and inspired me to keep on following my path and passion to photograph dogs and horses and their people. There is something about the connection between pets and humans that is magical for me and touches my heart every time. Making their bond visible for everyone and capturing it forever is my passion. And the freedom a creative business like that is giving me, is the best I can Imagine. It allows me to be wherever I want, meet beautiful people and animals and be an Independent woman. Hey Sam! I found your channel not too long ago and I really wished I found you sooner. I'm almost out of college but you've changed my perspective on content creation. So creative freedom to me is to bring a new perspective to your audience. It means to break the rules of filmmaking to tell the story a new way.

I'm currently grinding to make my dream of creating on UA-cam and other Social Media apps full time come true. Rad video Sam! Been getting super inspired by you lately. This July I am finally taking the jump to go fulltime solo into owning my own video production company/freelancing called 4x3 Films. And even though I have been doing this professionally the last 2 years of me life at a production company the main reason I am going solo is the reasoning for my creative freedom. To see my parents more. They just recently retired to Idaho and are on the older side. I understand how valuable seeing them is and working a normal job prohibiting me only getting too see them twice a year. Family is huge for me so that is one of my why I am starting a video production company and my reason for what creative freedom is. Being able to create even if it is client videos or personal videos as I am building a UA-cam channel all about the process of starting a business and what things I learn along the way. That for me is creative freedom! Great video Sam! Highly doubt I will be picked but nonetheless thank for you continuing to inspire todays filmmakers!

It's not being constrained by corporations just looking to pad their bottom line. It's having a safe space to experiment with your art, fail, iterate, and improve it to grow as a creative. Creative freedom allows me to be spontaneous, share vision, to inspire, and, hopefully, to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Of course every project is different, but inspiring others in some way is always a goal when I create. Fulfillment is also a driving force. Great video by the way. Awesome story! Never sure what's around the corner... Definitely true for me as my companions and I once almost gave up on our business. The month after suddenly it took off and kept growing ever since.
Creative freedom for me is actually not that everything is without limitations. When there is the right balance of 'rules/limits' given, but yet a space of nothingness that can be anything, it gives my creativity a push to make something unique and cool. Hopefully 🤞
