I love Lacock! So unchanged as it’s a NT property and loved seeing where some of my favorite movies and tv shows were made! I especially remember all the beautiful flowers everywhere!
Thank you for creating this. My wife and I visited Lacock in 1989, long before Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. Do stay at The Sign of the Angel if you can. It was a functioning inn as far back as the 12th century. The dinners there are traditional English roasts and very memorable.
Never heard of the place but what an interesting place to see no wonder film makers go there everything is so old and very quiet never knew so many films were made there let alone Harry potter great tour thanks
Damn--missed the live show. But watching it now. Love GWTV---need the escape from politics, covid, and all the other things in life that bring about stress. Much needed. Just allowed to escape and see some of the places in the UK I haven't been to. It's a bloody gem!!!
We’ve been to Lacock many times over the years and know most of the places you showed us. Surprised you didn’t walk down to the ford and river, which is opposite the church. That’s a very pretty lane. Lovely to see your video of the village. Must have been done early on Sunday morning.
I was on a tour from London to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, the George Inn for lunch and the town of Bath in late September of 2019 while on vacation from the United States. This video is cool because it shows other sections of the village that I didn't get to see. It's a very quaint English village.
I have visited Lacock in 2019. Loved this beautiful village. In fact, the Cotswold region is exceedingly beautiful. What is remarkable is how well these structures are preserved and looked after.
They have a big public free Car park/picknick site, Fox Talbut Museum, pubs that sell food, many walks for a quiet strolls. It's busiest times are weekends. We have popped over for walks thru out our lives as a couple then with our parents and then our children. It is so quiet there, people used to go there before just to see the old houses and TV and film locations. Summer weekends there's usually a ice cream van there. There is a public toilet there too near a playing field and small park. It's Situated between Melksham and Corsham in Wiltshire.
During filming of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 2010. The sign for the Swan Inn was changed to the 'seven swans' as the number 7 occurs quite a lot in the Harry Potter novels. For example, their are 7 horcruxes, Harry's quidditch robes have the number 7, their are 7 books and 7 players in a quidditch team.

In a few years Wiltshire Council plan to build a deviation on the A350 to the east of Melksham, that will join a junction literally just outside the west side of Lacock. The "bypass" will by on a high viaduct to cross the river Avon flood plain to the west of Lacock, and have a 60mph speed limit. The impact on the environment will be catastrophic, including the visual and audio amenities at Lacock. There isn't any need for the bypass as Melksham already has one, and the levels of traffic on the A350 have been constant for 20+ years. The purpose of the project is to open up more building land around Melksham, including close to Lacock, and to provide an 'A350 Corridor" between Trowbridge and the M4 junction at Chippenham, thereby allowing the substantial expansion of Trowbridge, Melksham and Chippenham. Vast swathes of the countryside around those towns, and Lacock, will be lost to the road and the houses it brings.
