the word cicatrice actually means scar in french, which is probably why so many products targetted towards post surgery have cica in their name!

Yay! A french pharmacy video :) as a sensitive skinned Euopean I can't even count anymore how many times one of these brands has helped rescue my skin. Even though I'm so heavily into korean and japanese brands, there are some products that are tried and true faves, like the LRP cicaplast balm, the thermal water mists (thanks to my mom who uses them religiously), Biodermas sensibio AR micellar water and the LRP syndet wash.
Sine I've emptied two sunscreens in the last couple of weeks I've finally ordered the new versions of the LRP anthelios sunscreens with the newly patented UV filter from L'oreal in it, the new UVmune 400 fluid type and the hydrating creme and I'm so excited to try these, since it's been some time sine I've had these in my routine.

Kelly - about shaving - are you sensitive to nickel? I am but never thought about razors causing a metal sensitivity and could never figure out why I always got irritation after shaving. I just started using nickel-free razors from Billie and it's a game changer!!!! For the first time ever I actually have smooth, irritation free legs after shaving.
I have Reddit to thank for realizing that even stainless steel blades have nickel in them unless they are nickel-free like the Billie razors. Just FYI to anybody else dealing with this issue!!! It took me to my 30s to learn about this and finally be able to shave normally. I no longer hate and dread shaving and the irritation fallout from it. Thanks Reddit, and thanks Billie for making nickel-free razors!

FINALLY! A Frech pharmacie haul that does NOT promote clean beauty/mentions the term "clean ingredients" and does not demonize chemical sunscreen. This is RARE.

I love the LRP toleraine cream cleanser. It's so good for sensitive irritated skin and you can use it around your eyes which is great. I want to try the Rosalic cleansing gel from LRP. My holy grail from Avene is their Skin Recovery cream. It's saved my skin so many times.

Nice to see this video. Due to pandemics, It has been more difficult to get korean and japanese skincare down to latin america. Yesstyle does not ship to Colombia anymore nor do other asian companies. So I had to migrate to french pharmacy (lrposay, avene, vichy, a derma, bioderma, uriage among others) and spanish (isdin, sesderma) and german (eucerin) and am loving it. plus I can purchase it here which is wonderful. so it's great to see your reviews of occidental products that we can have access to.

Hi Kelly so many of these are also favourites of mine and I use the Lipikar baume as a night cream most of the year. I use the baby version available here in the UK as the INCI list is slightly better, but there isn't a major difference (I also use the baby cicaplast btw). The Avene cicalfate lip balm is another star product for really chapped/sore lips. Aside from all these moisturising and soothing products these brands do offer some anti aging and my personal favourite is the Avene physiolift eye cream. It contains retinaldehyde which is difficult to find in an eye cream. The face version has some fragrance, but the eye cream does not. I use the geek and gorgeous Agame on my face, neck and chest - no fragrance and even more affordable retinaldehyde product. The physiolift eye cream is around £20 here in the UK, so it's not too spendy (their retrinal line also contains retinaldehyde, but is much more expensive without any real additional beneficial ingredients - so get the physiolift eye version if possible). It's in quite a rich base formulation which is useful in a retinoid product and suits my very dry, rosacea and eczema prone skin really well. I like the baume version of the xerocalm cream shown, but I have much drier skin than yourself. There are lots of really good moisturisers available in these french pharmacy ranges targeted at a variety of skin conditions, but they are usually a 40ml size so take that into account re the pricing of them. best wishes.

I’ve been enjoying the Avene Tolérance Extrême Cream. It’s minimally formulated for sensitive skin. It’s shea butter based and really occlusive without being heavy which my very dry skin loves

Hi Kelly, very much familiar with all these products... the brand Uriage is also very similar.
Kelly, if you can and are able to, check the new la roche posay sunscreens!!! The ones with the 400 series ; they have a Shaka fluid and cream versions!! Fragrance free and the tinted versions do have fragrance BUT they feel great if you have sensitive skin!!.
    No more tear eyes!!!
Thanks again for your comprehensive content of your reviews!!!..

My skin is typically quite resilient but the high amount of alcohol in the shaka fluid made it feel like rubbing sand on my face. 😣
That line would be hard for Kelly to get delivered to USA though. It's interesting you mention the eye irritation, I've never experienced that with any European sunscreen.

Some people have said it’s not occlusion enough and need another layer of moisturizer but not me. I find it to be super moisturizing! It feels like a dream on my skin .

My dear, you' d love *A313* pomade (pharmacy). It' s a combination of chef kiss esters, being retinyl palmitate the main one and the absolute queen of low voltage vit A derivatives. I personally use it as a safe eye contour cream or simply to slow down my tretinoine 0.1% before and after getting laser procedures done without loosing the retinoid continuity. Plus, you always can use it as an excuse to dermatravel😜 Thanks for the great video 🧛🏻‍♀️🖤

I seem to have forgotten how good some French pharmacy stuff is. Avène was my first love when I started to have issues, they have a section aimed at super reactive sensitive skin (with mineral sunscreens and the xeracalm lines) and I think I might give the xeracalm cream/balm a go. I figure someone else has already asked but do they or how do they compare to the Illiyoon cream?
Btw, love that you explained about the ‘cica’ thing. My French is very poor but I’m fairly sure it’s part of the verb cicatriser which means to heal. I used to be able to use that Cicalfate balm as an everyday moisturiser when my skin was truly bad *shudders* now it’s more like a sleeping pack.

    • @KellyDriscoll

I love Avene Xeracalm! It's my HG moisturizer. I love the xeracalm cream, I use it at night every night. It's a little heavy for daytime use in the summer where I live, it's very hot and humid here so I use a gel moisturizer and sunscreen in daytime instead. The balm was way too heavy for me even in the winter, but my sister loves it for her eczema patches.
The xeracalm oil cleanser is lovely. It's so safe to use, I can always use it at any time on even the most sensitive skin, anywhere on my body or face.
Compared to the illiyoon cream, I love the xeracalm cream much better. The texture is lovely, it's less siliconey than the illiyoon. The xeracalm cream is like a cold cream, the texture is so fluffy and cooling yet rich. It's honestly a joy to use on my face, and it's my pick also if I only want to bring a single moisturizer with me for face and body when traveling. For me it blows illiyoon out of the water texture-wise, especially after the recent illiyoon reformulation.

Been using Avene for years, without finding the right cream for me. Now I'm totally psyched to try the Avene XeraCalm products! Thanks so much! And Bioderma too, which is new to me. I recommend the Avene Retinal 0.1 which is great, much better than the Physiolift line which has a horrible scent. Another favourite for years: Avene cold cream lip butter in a small tub - magic! Thank you for all your great advice , and have a good week!
