    Congrats man, you were definitely an inspiration when it came to become a network engineer, especially seeing another African man making waves in the space. I got my Computer Science degree, and decided to pursue my own business since I feel doing my own things is the best route, regardless, keep grinding, and ascending.

    Dude! I saw some of your videos prior my CCNA Exam what I took this July. I decided no to stop there, but to study more, my next target is the CCNP ENCOR. Now I saw that you have the CCNP Encor. I watched it, and discovered you have more videos to watch. So subscribed, bell pushed :) Thanks for your work to share your experiences. Really helpful to see what road is to make. (sorry for my english, not native speaker.) I will definietly will watch all of your videos from the beggining. You are a real inspiration.

    Love the video! Currently in school for IT Networking AAS while studying the A+ on the side and you do a great job explaining and motivating all things IT! Also, you should make a video describing how to get a job in contracting and what it means to be a contractor! Keep up the good work :)

    Its important to remember to negotiate what you're worth. Not what you "feel" you're worth. Companies and money don't care about your feelings. They care about raw skill.

    Hey man, just wondering what drew you into networking as opposed to cybersecurity or cloud. I'm just starting off currently doing a Bs in cybersecurity from WGU but networking has always peaked my interest. I tend to want to optimize things as opposed to trying to find a way to break/crack em.

      One thing I would say to be more effective in cybersecurity a solid understanding of networking would be needed. With knowing networking it’ll make cybersecurity much easier per my colleagues.

      @@abchico so I've heard. Networking knowledge seems to be tied to almost everything in IT. What I'm referring to is why he chose networking over other fields. Like i think it's cooler to set up WiFi, go home and be like yup I built some shit today over staring at logs or trying to create some governance policy. But i hear cybersecurity is the way to go, I'm just not sure why. Pay between networking and cyber seems pretty similar. Demand seems higher for cyber though. Cloud is booming. But i would prefer not to base my decision over shit like that. I rather base it on what I would enjoy more. But since I am not in the field yet. That's y I am asking Brendan.

      I would say Agent AB above is correct. It’s all perspective here. By understanding the fundaments, principles and technology involved with Networking across the board, which affects literally everything in how devices and systems communicate, your better off in knowing how to secure those systems on the security end. The broad knowledge of one helps the other. It world be an entirely different question though in asking why he chose the Wireless Specialty trac vs Security, Cloud or Data Center focus expertise. At such point it can be various reasons and interests in what a person finds interesting and to do daily.

    Brother I need some advice.
    I was dumb and didn’t see what I had infront of me. Past few years I’ve landed jobs thanks to my computer skills. The current job I have has exposed me to many areas. Like office 365, azure, servers, etc etc. Supporting people with pc problems. A bunch of simple things you can think of in 2 years. But instead of focusing on expanding that career and move to a bigger company. I started studying visual effects, and even though I like it. It takes a lot of time and Compared to computers I don’t learn it as easily as computer stuff which I figure out by myself most of the time pretty quickly and then master it by watching videos/ reading. Do you think I should focus in this field? Im in a visual effects program right now, 2nd semester just started. But finding your videos has put a doubt in my mind career wise. Thank you for that

      That’s tough. What is your gut telling you?
      Do you get the same enjoyment when doing and learning all of these things when it come to computers?

    Do you think being a contractor allows your money to be in higher 5-6 figures?

    • @TheBuffNerd7539
      @TheBuffNerd7539  2 роки тому +2

      Being a contractor for the DoD. Absolutely. There are so many variable to that equation that can lead to a higher salary. Certifications, experience, interpersonal skills, security clearance level etc... You should see what some of the oversee contractors make. It would blow your mind.

    Great content man! I've just subscribed....
    Anyway, I was wondering if you've got any degrees at all? Or is it all certifications? I ask this because the perception out there is you can't make a high paying salary in the IT industry without some sort of a degree, like a bachelors, etc...
