Dude (Sir)! Over and over again I watched others show replacing the mag release for compliance with CA “assault weapon” requirements to install the Mag-Safe by Cross Armory. They’d start with it already removed. THANK YOU for the basics of getting it out I had never had to do this for previous AR-15 models I’ve had. So,wow, it didn’t take even 5 minutes to do after your demo! THANK YOU x100 for the simple steps! Stay great Brother!🇺🇸
What a great video. Subscribed ! I've owned firearms for 30+ years and always wanted to work on my AR. This video gives me the confidence to at least replace that part !
Also be careful to not drag the magazine release across your lower receiver and scratch it up. This is one item on your AR that can be adjusted, so you can assure good magazine retention, and also to make releasing the magazine easier. With a little trial and error you can make it reliable, and also perfect for you.
My new AR will only catch and hold a full mag if I slam it in and sometimes not even then. It will catch a empty mag fine all the time but nothing more than half full unless I slam it in. Does that mean it is too loose or too tight. I would like to try to fix it rather than order a new one although they are cheap.
Sounds like there's not enough pressure on the latch that holds the magazine in. You may need to inspect it to be sure it has enough metal to fully catch or replace the spring. If the rifle is brand new the company should fix the issue provided it does have a warranty of course.
Thank you for show the process in detail. The mag release of the DPMS I just purchased from an online auction has a very long button. When a magazine is inserted the button will not press and release the mag. My guess it was a California gun or something.
I've got a g&g 308, the button doesn't petrude enough for me to even turn it, resulted in a snapped mag catch, currently superglued together, any advice on how to get this piece off and to avoid the same issue if I replace it
Are LR 308. Different somehow? i pressed my mag release button all the way in and it wont't come out at all to turn and unscrew it at all? It is a Black Creek Labs 102 LR 308. Any ideas? i bought a nice replacement extended release and i don't want to have to spend $100.00 on a gunsmith to do five minutes work.
Most should be the same, you can check to see if there is some type of set screw that keeps it from turning. Also check the specific manufacturer website. As this video is the way the majority of them are done. But because there are thousands of companies now making parts it's possible they've done something different than the standard way. You may try contacting the company and ask to speak with one of their smiths.
how can I disable the release of the loader on the right side and make the left one work? they are left-handed and holding the gun to their chest, they accidentally release it
Fairly new into guns. I just recently got a Rugar AR 556. The mag release I have is the one where I have to pull a pin and separate the upper and lower to press the button to release magazine. Is there any way to replace that for a quick release? To avoid having to do that process?
I couldn't say for certain without seeing the rifle. But it sounds like you have one that is state compliant like for California. I know they made some that have fixed 10 round mags. If you're in CA or some place. Then modifying the rifle could possibly make it illegal in that state.
@@RustyGuns yes im in California. That might be the case. I have other rifles that have the quick release. Just wondering why this one i had to do this whole process.
“Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary” Karl Marx said it better than lenin
Without seeing hard for me to tell you. But if no way to move button, I would probably try something like a slim Jim between mag well and mag to release the mag. Basically think credit card in a door lock.
Always happy to see a fellow core15 enjoyer.
Just moved/escaped from California-Thank God almighty-and needed a how-to review
Thank you!
Congrats enjoy your new FREEDOM!!!!
@@RustyGuns oh ya, I am. Thanks again!
This this roughly the same process for any AR style rifle?

Very welcome, and thanks for taking time to post

Awesome, needed this for a prop gun im making to see how the whole assembly works. Im surprised it is so simple
Thx for posting this video. Exactly what I needed to know. I have to put a "lock" on my AR so its complying with state law..
Thanks that was very helpful and a easy process.
Thanks for the video. Got an ambidextrous mag release for my AR and I was sure how swap it 👍
No problem happy it helped

i have the same problem with my AR, i have to really slap the mag in to lock, what did you to do to fix it? let me know
I think it has more to do with the rounds butting up against a closed bolt. Does it work fine if the bolt is held open and you load a full mag?
Great how to. Thank you.
Simple and easy. Thanks
Very welcome
Thank you. This helped me
Are all mag release buttons the same? Like do I need to order a certain size for different ar15s?
Very helpful video thank you

No problem, glad it was helpful, thanks for watching and commenting.
Thank you very much that looks easy
Welcome, and yep super easy you shouldn't have any trouble DIY. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Buy an ambi mag release that way you can use either side

@Kamryn Kant yes most definitely. I found out what I needed to do to make it compliant when switching out the mag releases. Thank you.
“Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary”
Karl Marx said it better than lenin
The quote at the beginning is so chopped up I can't find a real reference to it. It was probably two separate sentences cobbled together.
Why quote Lenin anyway? That's just weird.
You sound like Kermit the frog
Kermit with a gun tho
Wat if mags stuck and the button isn’t moving at all

@@RustyGuns I got the mag out but the mechanism is stuck to the point I can’t change out the mag release.
Thank you!

@@RustyGuns You too man!
