Loved the descriptions. After a few other faster paced videos, this one helped me actually see how these meta decks work. I've found it's not always easy to find explanatory content to help those who don't already know all the meta combos.
i don't think that engage is the problem card, yeah its not once per turn and it draws but striker as a pure deck has to have something to compensate for not being able to use the main monster zone. the problem arises with drones which is what makes it a splash-able engine, that should be the ban target, not engage. engage is only as good as the targets it has (which have already been kneecapped) people are just too busy crying because the deck is able to limit how many monsters you can spew onto the board (a lot of which is from none striker cards anyway, TCBOO, CED and hand traps)
its the same with phoenix blade and isolde remember isolde? remember poeple saying the card should be banned together with phoenix blade? my point is that the yugioh comunity is near sighted not thinking about the future they cant make balance for shit
someakatsukifromcanada 9 it's still a budget deck just like most of the top decks are now. Orcust is fairly cheap except for Dingirsu which is like $30 but you only need 2 everything else is pretty much dirt cheap. Mining is $40 but like I said there's gonna be a reprint soon so it's gonna drop significantly and you don't really need phantasmay at all.
LIT GOD Its a problem for me when Im not allowed to buy cards anymore and pretty much have to rely solely on trading these days. (My fault did not manage my money properly) I mean I’ve managed to make due online and at locals without Mining using cards like Balancer Lord, Strike, Backup Secretary, Archiver... but god do I ever wish Mining was more accessible from the start.
Great video as always Cimon :) But a little suggestion is make a video like this with low tier or rougue decks, it's more interesting than tier 1 or top decks that we see everydays in big events. It's my personal opinion that would be more great to watch and learn some different decks than usual. Take as a constructive criticism. :D
In game 2 Salamangreat Player cannot banish Balelynx to protect his monster. He used Lancea that turn and Lancea affects both players. Remember salad players be aware of this misplay
@@patirck024 A misplay is unintentional, an illegal play can be intentional. It was more like a misplay imo, and easy to forget because Balelynx does not activate.
I commented something similar to this on Sam’s channel a moment ago; I play at tons of competitive events and the amount of people you hear saying Engage should be banned is scarce. We just saw Salamangreat manhandle this deck, not to mention you could fire off about 3-5 other decks that can beat it. No body likes getting triple engaged, but no one likes getting hit with a card of demise either, or a mystic mine, or imperial order, or a judgement! Not to mention how much it sucks to lose a die roll sometimes. Despite the occasional chaos, these powerful cards create checks and balances. Let’s as a community help each other build better decks and anticipate matchups instead of getting upset that we lost to a card that we know is prevalent in the metagame.

The ss orcust player so bad, the line of play in the beginning game 1 is awful, why send skele with grepher, if Harper gets stopped and you have no way to extend you lose, sending knoghtmare is better in case you need to send wand to make galatea, also would've been better to save the ip for unicorn for any back row, just nightmare send skele summon ding to send the baleynx before he extends his plays. If he has the gazelle in hand then use the ip but other wise he just ends his turn and if he has anybackrow just ip and unicorn it.

They received more hits than any other deck aside from zoodiac. Striker doesn’t deserve the rusty bardiche treatment because orcust is using Engage now. Just hit drones. Plus why would they hit Engage if they are releasing Rose and Zeke soon??
@@merconomics3726 Uhh, it is. Pure Strikers got 25% of the top 8 in Milan and won in London. That's 2 premiere events. Obviously there's still plenty to go, but denying that Strikers is tier 1 is simply wrong. You can look up Cimoooooooo's video on the tier list (since TopDecks apparently is down) and you'll see the same. Strikers are by no means the best deck right now, but no one will argue that they're not tier 1.

Salad player here! Quit playing before salad got hit (the first time) and was winning locals like every week lol bout to join the scene again but prolly wait for the ban list to see what happens to orcust. If Babel got hit the deck would be playable just not so overwhelming on the opponents turn. I'm not 100% for banning engage but the deck is to friggin strong. And I watch alot of matches and I'm already tired of seeing unwinnable matches against orcust. Salad was annoying but it was fair. Super consistent but fair
Not only that but seeing how mucu support they got with Bardiche, Dingirsu, Crescendo and to top it all off an over 2k beatstick that can be both summoned and can banish a card from your opponent on their turn (gizmek). But no. Salads with gazzelle at 3 was too consistent.
Patrick Houtzager people haven’t been playing Pyro Phoenix as it’s just not good enough to take up 2 extra deck slots that could be used for borrelsword or avramax.

@@shakeweller That was the point though, Nibiru gives other decks a fighting chance over big combo decks that are not stopped by hand traps. Also look at Seyfert Thunder, they don't care about Nibiru or any hand trap, they still make virtually unbreakable boards with 5+ negations. Nibiru, Super Poly, and DRNM gives other players a way to break these "Unbreakable Boards" in a fair way that changes how we all have to play our combos and strategies. I have to be cognizant of Nibiru when I combo off but I built my deck anticipating Nibiru. Most competent players are able to make Apollousa by the 5th summon and still combo off anyways
@@patirck024 I agree, I think Pure Orcust is fair on its own, and was made unfair with the Striker engine. Protection from destruction, nontarget send to GY, and 1 negate is not that ridiculous compared to, for example, multiple negates from big combo boards.
Hey I can't remember correctly, but once you detach for the effect of stallio, aren't you locked into fire monsters for the turn? So you wouldn't be able to summon abyss dweller? Or am I mistaking it for another salad card that locks into fire type? Or am I just plain dumb and have got the effects completely wrong?
You are able to summon other type monsters, however you can not use thier effects for the turn after you use the Stalio. :) You can detach 1 material from this card; Special Summon 1 "Salamangreat" monster from your Deck in Defense Position, also you cannot activate monster effects for the rest of this turn, except FIRE monsters. If this Xyz Summoned card is sent to the GY as materialfor the Link Summon of a "Salamangreat" monster: You can target 1 monster on the field; return it to the hand. You can only use each effect of "Salamangreat Miragestallio" once per turn.

The extra draw could be a handtrap or an orcust normal summon that would help. The turn after why summon foxy. Just banish the resource if you're not going to use it as well as the fact that it stunned his last backrow which was hornet. Is that enough elaboration for you?
Banning engage because orcust can play the engine would be like banning sunlight wolf if some other deck could play a salad engine. Way too much cross fire. Just ban hornet drones. Then the only decks that can play striker either need to be able to give up their normal summon to the engine or be able to pop their own field spells+ play a brick.
Rogue Factor why would people splash salads? Its not really a splashable deck, striker is. I can list 5 archetypes that can use every striker card virtually. Striker and orcust had their time, its time to go
@@MaliEndz 1. I'd say it is pretty splashable. The entire engine is reachable through a generic rank 3 and/or a searchable normal summon. And simply going into the strategy after your normal plays (or before if the main strategy is also fire) sets up an interuption and a powerful grind game lile mermaid orcust. It hasnt been done yet because there is no strategy better than salad that can set up easy rank 3s and salad still easily has enough cards to make a full main deck. But could be something to watch out for in the future. 2. But more importantly that wasnt the important part of the comparison. Banning engage would murder the well balanced pure deck just so a deck splashing it cant do so. The better option would be to make the engine unsplashable for orcust by banning hornet drones.
___ I3ambi Its time for these decks to go, you know how many time pure decks got killed off? Striker and Orcust players should be grateful they got to stay tier 1 for over a year now. Alot of previous tier 1 decks I played never lasted as long as them. @@MaliEndz I dont understand that logic. My background is primarily fighting games (mostly smash bros). There competitive players typically complain about 3 things. 1. OP characters being too strong and limiting variety/choice. 2. Degenerate characters existing at all (no matter power). 3. Characters that are unhealthy for the game being meta. (People are fine with them existing as long as they are never popular) If someone is complaining to nerf a character then they pretty much always thought the character should have been lower power/nonexistent. I've never met anyone who thought a character should be nerfed because "theyve been viable for too long". Anyone who thinks the game is at all just wants unviable characters to be made viable, new characters to be released, or a new game with some different mechanics to be released. I dont understand why players would want old/not op/not toxic decks to be completely killed.
Remember that Longirsu can send a linked monster to GY, not just one he points to, but one that the opponent's link monster points to. So besides protecting Galatea by battle and being protected from card effect destruction, he has that too.
Not 100% sure on the ruling, since the Gazelle wasn't in hand at the time, but I believe he special summoned it because he sent Spinny to GY for Mining's cost, and Gazelle can special summon itself IF a Salad card is sent to GY (so it doesn't miss timing). If that's the case, then the Jack Jaguar was indeed the only normal summon.

@@shakeweller That was the point though, Nibiru gives other decks a fighting chance over big combo decks that are not stopped by hand traps. Also look at Seyfert Thunder, they don't care about Nibiru or any hand trap, they still make virtually unbreakable boards with 5+ negations. Nibiru, Super Poly, and DRNM gives other players a way to break these "Unbreakable Boards" in a fair way that changes how we all have to play our combos and strategies. I have to be cognizant of Nibiru when I combo off but I built my deck anticipating Nibiru. Most competent players are able to make Apollousa by the 5th summon and still combo off anyways

@@patirck024 I agree, I think Pure Orcust is fair on its own, and was made unfair with the Striker engine. Protection from destruction, nontarget send to GY, and 1 negate is not that ridiculous compared to, for example, multiple negates from big combo boards.
How can you call that competetive? They don't even have Duel Disks or sound effects or at least the coolness of The Chazz.

Hey I can't remember correctly, but once you detach for the effect of stallio, aren't you locked into fire monsters for the turn? So you wouldn't be able to summon abyss dweller? Or am I mistaking it for another salad card that locks into fire type? Or am I just plain dumb and have got the effects completely wrong?
You are able to summon other type monsters, however you can not use thier effects for the turn after you use the Stalio. :)

@@kingreaper212 Βασίλης Μπενέκης turn 1 activate hornet to get third spell and get the draw off engage. What's the purpose of leaving a kagari that can easily be outed. The extra draw could be a handtrap or an orcust normal summon that would help. The turn after why summon foxy. Just banish the resource if you're not going to use it as well as the fact that it stunned his last backrow which was hornet.

Banning engage because orcust can play the engine would be like banning sunlight wolf if some other deck could play a salad engine. Way too much cross fire. Just ban hornet drones.
Then the only decks that can play striker either need to be able to give up their normal summon to the engine or be able to pop their own field spells+ play a brick.

Rogue Factor why would people splash salads? Its not really a splashable deck, striker is. I can list 5 archetypes that can use every striker card virtually. Striker and orcust had their time, its time to go
@@MaliEndz 1. I'd say it is pretty splashable. The entire engine is reachable through a generic rank 3 and/or a searchable normal summon. And simply going into the strategy after your normal plays (or before if the main strategy is also fire) sets up an interuption and a powerful grind game lile mermaid orcust.
It hasnt been done yet because there is no strategy better than salad that can set up easy rank 3s and salad still easily has enough cards to make a full main deck. But could be something to watch out for in the future.
2. But more importantly that wasnt the important part of the comparison. Banning engage would murder the well balanced pure deck just so a deck splashing it cant do so. The better option would be to make the engine unsplashable for orcust by banning hornet drones.
___ I3ambi Its time for these decks to go, you know how many time pure decks got killed off? Striker and Orcust players should be grateful they got to stay tier 1 for over a year now. Alot of previous tier 1 decks I played never lasted as long as them. Striker is cancerous as of now due to how many decks can utilize their cards, even knocking out something like hornet drones isn’t enough. Engage is a broken card that is better than pot of greed itself and that card has been forever banned. Its time for major changes because these slaps on the wrist arent enough

My background is primarily fighting games (mostly smash bros). There competitive players typically complain about 3 things.
1. OP characters being too strong and limiting variety/choice.
2. Degenerate characters existing at all (no matter power).
3. Characters that are unhealthy for the game being meta. (People are fine with them existing as long as they are never popular)
If someone is complaining to nerf a character then they pretty much always thought the character should have been lower power/nonexistent. I've never met anyone who thought a character should be nerfed because "theyve been viable for too long". Anyone who thinks the game is at all just wants unviable characters to be made viable, new characters to be released, or a new game with some different mechanics to be released.
I dont understand why players would want old/not op/not toxic decks to be completely killed.

Remember that Longirsu can send a linked monster to GY, not just one he points to, but one that the opponent's link monster points to. So besides protecting Galatea by battle and being protected from card effect destruction, he has that too.

The second duel, the salamand player made two normal summons, first the gazelle and then the jaguar 🤔🤔🤔
Not 100% sure on the ruling, since the Gazelle wasn't in hand at the time, but I believe he special summoned it because he sent Spinny to GY for Mining's cost, and Gazelle can special summon itself IF a Salad card is sent to GY (so it doesn't miss timing). If that's the case, then the Jack Jaguar was indeed the only normal summon.

Cimoo mentioned it, the player had sanctuary in hand and so isn't allowed to activate balelynx to search it because it's not in the deck.
