"Now that companies can see how easy this is to do." Until cooling becomes an issue. Both the A310 and 380 are so low power and produce barely any heat on their own. That becomes a problem with more powerful graphics cards
Yes but companies don't engineer coolers for all cards. For example they slap rx 6600 coolers on rx 6400. there are 2 slot, 3 slot rx 6400 on the market for this reason.
that's what happens when you push for hardware instead of optimization. a clunky mess with a massive die that needs a condenser to cool below 900c and a power supply that needs a 50 amp outlet.
The creators of that mini pc had custom RTX A2000 with single slot and for the 75w from only pice its not that much to cool. It could be interseting what could be done at this tdp.
@user-yz8do8vu1s so theu engineered 3 solutions for 3 performance goals. I'm guessing it's takes a fair bit of clock speed hit in alot of conditions. In msi afterburner there is slider that is responsible for Max Power draw, you can reduce that one to a point where it's fine and undervolt accordingly
They could absolutely make single slot designs. Issue with that being heat and the impressively low volume they would sell. There isn't much for them because they don't sell.
Hey, cool to see Eta getting some love. His stuff is right up my niche and basically nobody I see talks about him, although he's obviously pretty well respected.
They already did that I think around 10 years ago, even releasing 2 GPUs in a package. But it seems not many people is a fan of having dual GPUs installed in their PC, and they just get back making single GPUs again
well since there are some universal air coolers and waterblocks that do fit a lot of cards there shouldn't be to much trouble depending on the card in swapping factory coolers from one card to another.
I always wanted to use different gpu coolers for different cards, like as much as I like my XTX, I would love to have an EVGA ftw3 cooler on it, too bad that's a lot more difficult than swapping coolers for smaller cards
Something tells me that companies won’t do this cause they can see now that it makes them more money when you buy 2 GPUs that they don’t have to ever warranty out when it fails cause the warranty was voided when the heatsink cooler combo was removed
I don’t know why companies don’t just make cards like this with slim sinks and small fans and just put a warning that you will need to know how to optimize the case airflow to prevent overheating.
I’ve been looking for weeks trying to see if anyone makes a low profile or any aftermarket cooler for the 4070 series but they only seem to exist for a select few outdated gpus
Just looking for cards that stay in the size, power and price limits of the 1990s . Maybe the integrated GPUs of some CPU packages split out as a separate card .
Soon with those solid state coolers, it won't matter. Either slap those directly on components or a heat sink with those attached and make a custom cooled gpu. Single slot air cooled 4090?
Ah yes the A310 and A380 have become GPU's now instead of Airplanes
As an avgeek and a pc enthusiast, every time I see A310 or A380 I think “gpus and planes”
I agree, I recently noticed it, this is kinda funny as a pc and plane enthusiast
Me too
😂
I mean it’s the same as the Intel i branding. i7 can mean a CPU or a car. lol

Wdym? Just remove the cooler and the PCB and now you have a negative slot card.
Yeah. . I understand the issues.
But! The 380 isn't THAT hot. If he down volts the card, it should be a pretty good card!

A380? Intel is collabing with airbus now lol
and the a310 is also a airbus

Now they using airbus planes as graphic cards names? 💀

Small form factor the pump tubes and radiator adds a lot of space. Its kinda hobby vs practical to build small because you can.

Some day we will have a company making coolers for gpus
At first I thought he was able to pack a 4090 into a literal brick-sized card 🗿
Finally my boy gets shouted out.
It probably won't pass the manufacturer's thermal tests.
I find it hard to believe that GPUs need such beefy coolers and we have NO alternatives
Still to this day we never got the AMD Project Quantum and it still hurts my soul.
