  • Hadrien Feraud & Federico Malaman play Giant Steps on the gruvgear stand. It just starts to get interesting until the NAMM conveners shut them down for noise issues.

    Great players! Hadrien got shut down at the Mark Bass booth as well for loudness. Walking around NAMM, there was much louder noise going on at booths than this. Thanks for posting this.

    Coco, I guess my age caught up with me, thought I was talking to the players in video. Now knowing it was your post please let me rewind, I watch all your posts and your skills on bass are outstanding. I was just giving my thoughts in comment section!

      Hey no worries my brother, Just curious to see wether u knew the tune and a fan of Jazz or specifics to what they were playing. I'm learning more and more about this music so I'm always curious to hear other peoples perspectives on what makes a great improvisation. Understand if you don't like this music, its not for everyone. These guys are at the top in my opinion with regards to playing and improvising. The beauty of music tho, its all personal taste.

      I'm intrigued is it the song you don't like or the solos? Its a complex tune but I can here them outline the changes

      Hadrien or Federico, never thought I would be called out on this one. I'm just a old Bass player with bad ears ( I played the USO shows with Hope back in 68-69 in Nam), You both have more talent in one finger then I have in my whole body, "but". I listen with good speakers but when listening to your download and outline of changes it was of poor sound quality, not your playing tech. I understand you had no control over the recording going on, I was just giving a review! I'm a fan and will always stay so, that being said I will try and give a honest repot on what I see and hear. What a volume of work you put out at the NAMM shows. Lol...

    • @tomt8691
      @tomt8691 7 років тому +3

      I realized that about Hadrien's playing.He's a great bass player when soloing,no doubt,but his grooving sucks.
      I guess every bass player has a weak area.We just have to learn what we can from everyone.

    • @anthonycummins34
      @anthonycummins34 7 років тому +6

      Tom T if you think his groove sucks then you must not know nothing at all about his music, listen to his lastest album and youll definitely regret what you just said without a doubt

      Matt Ferland you don't know much about these guys at all

    • @MattFerland
      @MattFerland 7 років тому +2

      the are great players don't get me wrong... i just don't feel any emotions listening to this. nothing like listening to wooten/bailey jam for exemple.

    • @tomt8691
      @tomt8691 7 років тому +1

      +anthony cummins I've been listening to Hadrien and many bass players for a long time.The way I think about his grooving is the same way I think about Victor Wooten's finger-style improvisation.It's not his strong point.If I need someone to lay a solid groove,Hadrien isn't the guy I'd call but Victor.If I need someone to improvise in a finger-style solo,I wouldn't call Victor but Hadrien.I know this is subjective bro.We can debate all day,but I hope you get my point.I respect these bass players but I know they have strong and weak areas,every musician has.
