**Follow up...PLUS??? ** So I thought I would do a little follow-up on this 4 year Larry Barker investigation. I mean, This was posted in 2018 and the notice for eviction was about to expire. First: A quote from KRQE's page shows that "Facing the deadline, the Hoshi family finally moved the carvings to private storage over the weekend." But wait...you said 9:03 that the Hoshi family spokesperson was Eri Hoshi. So, Eri Hoshi had them moved...more on her in a moment. The carvings were moved with no one addressing the issue of how they were acquired. What with that nasty Law and such. The pieces were moved with exception of 2 items transferred to the care of UNM downtown building on Broadway. When asked about taking possession of the statues when their origin was in question, UNM said they would look into it. News 13 also attempted to contact a Hoshi family representative (Again I'm guessing the above mentioned Eri Hoshi) but did not hear back. So...Over to Eri Hoshi A quick search tells me that Eri WENT to UNM. After graduating from a University in Tokyo with a B.A. in Economics. She joined UNM in 2008 (When did the carvings get donated?) She got her Masters in Public Administration in 2011 from UNM. And is now? According to the article (And independently through the University's current website) that was published about a year ago she is WORKING AT UNM as the University Ventures & International Engagements Manager. Further... The Sante Fe New Mexican published an article by Margaret Wright in July of 2015 quoting Eri as saying... "...in 2008 Japan's Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry began forging collaborations with researchers at The University of New Mexico, Sandia national Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory." She then after describing the renewable energy projects the Japanese government is interested in working on said "...The Japanese government invested in New Mexico-based research projects..." You can say conspiracy theory all you like, but Larry here spent 4 years coming up with this interesting angle. It then took me about 30 min to piece together this part. What's left?
Return them to the countries they were stolen from. Japan didn’t follow international law or any law when they invaded China and Korea. These things will most likely cost someone millions in legal fees.
Because people would ruin them. If you had a 3 million dollar statue, just one... Would you put it in the middle of yo city?? 😂 no it goes in your living room unless you have kids or lots of wack guests.. Then you obviously wouldnt be the type to have A 3 million dollar item
Those two Snow lions are magnificent, Best ROCKS of the entire collection. Too Bad it's all under control by art authority and investigation of ownership and permits. Sounds like a quick attempt to Get 17 million dollars by a Japanese gangster.
These are cultural grave goods obviously stolen during the Japanese occupation of China and Korea! Albuquerque accepted them without providing proper provenance and as such should be on the hook to return them!
It's simple he knew they stolen and the pressure was on him to get rid of them or face extreme fines in prison this is why his family does not want to retrieve the antiquities
Sell them for a grand each, they would look good in front of a Chinese buffet building. But in all reality I'm sure they are fake. With the so called money value the family wouldn't be stupid enough to not take them back.
I’m half Korean obviously, don’t take a scientist to figure that out, rofl! If Native American can claim things why can’t any other race? And on that note Asians were here first! If you know anything about history!
@@dmp9135 race gives the right, it doesn’t have to be me, but the race it belongs to! That is the first time I ever heard that b.s! I was just commenting not wishing for some dum**** who is obviously not Asian to open his ******* mouth!
file a lien on them and only release them when its paid , the sooner the better.... charge a small fee of 1% per month storage=910,000/mo... the city thinks nothing of screwing its citizens but does this without compensation?????
I hope we seized them. Holding them for free and charging our tax payers for it is wrong when we do not own the artifacts. Hope they ended up getting ownership, shouldn't let some asians use ya museum.
For anyone wondering the city gave the family a 60 day notice and the family ended up putting the collection is private storage
Thank you!!!
The mayor did some shady business!😒
Seriously this guy needs his own show. I would watch. Awesome story teller. I bet he could tell scary stories that keep ya up. 😂😂😂
Him and Rob Wolchek could take over...keeping America honest. Albuquerque should return these stolen treasures back to their original countries.
For sure, he just needs budget for a barber to keep the stache tight and right. Sometimes it's too long for him to speak clearly.
@@steveleslie2170 heck yes, love rob and his hall of shame hollar.
Albuquerque should simply keep them as an asset. Its like free money lol
I say drop them in the Aquarium. 😂😂
But it belongs to China and Korea, so they should give it back because of the culture and it is disrespectful to keep it
Amazing how the Mayor was mentioned once in this video after profiting and never mentioned again.

Thank very much!👍
Send it back.
i fkn love larry we need more reporters like him !
Terrible idea.... bet those things end up getting stolen.... this is Albuquerque guys.......
those are FOO DOGS
Us hillbillies would have already had them on EBay or Craigslist, New Mexico sure has some smart people to bad they are not in Government.
Return them to the countries they were stolen from. Japan didn’t follow international law or any law when they invaded China and Korea. These things will most likely cost someone millions in legal fees.
Yep. They didn't sign the Hague Conventions nor the Geneva ones.
Holy cow, government employees in New Mexico screwed up again? I'm shocked.
I'm pretty sure they've dumped millions in a plot to eliminate this guy but like every other state endeavor...
poor rich people they can t afford storage and you park your car 12 minutes on a street built with your tax dollar and you get a ticket
That is awesome to see the statues what other treasures are hidden
charge them a storage fee then claim the statues to pay the storage debt.
Sounds like black market to me!
War crime, looted treasure.
TO HIDE THEM FROM PEOPLE THAT WANTED THEM BACK .
Threaten to place them all in the South Valley. In one week they’ll be covered in graffiti.
if they refuse to take them then keep them or sell them lol
Why didn't the city put them on display and make money on showing these?
Because people would ruin them. If you had a 3 million dollar statue, just one... Would you put it in the middle of yo city?? 😂 no it goes in your living room unless you have kids or lots of wack guests.. Then you obviously wouldnt be the type to have A 3 million dollar item

Any update on what happened? Did they get declared abandoned?

It was a business deal of corruption

They may have been poured cement and sandblasted.
Return them to there home land

worth Millions?? .. yet nobody wants them .. uhmmmm ???
stolen art

That’s our tax dollars used for the botanical gardens.
I’ll take them! Lol. Actually as a Korean I have more right to the Korean artifacts than whites, natives or Mexicans!
Show us the law that gives you the rights
A korean named alfred lawson😑
I’m half Korean obviously, don’t take a scientist to figure that out, rofl! If Native American can claim things why can’t any other race? And on that note Asians were here first! If you know anything about history!
African blacks say they were here first. I guess all the first people have all the rights and all the last people have none. Wish all you want

No Nazi's, no gun fights, no magical heart ripping, and no body melting...sh!tty movie...all of the intrigue, no action.
Lol how ridiculous. Using pubic funds to store this stuff and profiting for it.
Dean Staley can get it.
Or give them back to their countries and charge for storage and shipping fees.
Shady stuff going on here
Here is an easy solution. Place them in a local park at the mercy of graffity vandals. They're ugly in any case.
file a lien on them and only release them when its paid , the sooner the better.... charge a small fee of 1% per month storage=910,000/mo... the city thinks nothing of screwing its citizens but does this without compensation?????
storage lien sale
