My brother is a fifth generation farmer. He says most farmers can easily produce a great crop for at least another year without any fertilizer at all. The yields will go down after that, but not drastically. The soil is built up with nutrients from decades of fertilization. This is another news generated crisis.

I have been saving my used Folger coffee grounds in the previous original Folgers container. When full, I broadcast it by hand over a different small section of my lawn, about a 10 foot circle. I also put it around my landscaping plants. I’ve lived here , in Florida, at this home only three years and have been doing this for two years. EVERY plant including the grass is growing and looking much better than when I moved in. I planted a lemon tree FROM SEED, no more than two years ago, and applied a handful of the grounds every month. It is now 4 feet tall. I measured to make sure I wasn’t being over optimistic when looking at it. I started because of a UA-cam post, but now do this because of the high cost of fertilizer. Try this, it takes only two minutes to broadcast the container of coffee grounds by hand. I spread it like as a child I used to throw chicken feed out for the chickens my grandparents chickens. I don’t think ,as long as I can have coffee grounds I will ever need to buy fertilizer again for yard use. If we all did this for our lawns, the farmers might not have a fertilizer shortage here in America, or the price of fertilizer might come way down! Anyway, you will may not have to buy fertilizer.

Inflation is only at 8% year over year but for some reason autos homes rents fertilizers food and just about everything else we buy is up 25% or more in the case of fertilizer 3 to 500% more yeah but inflation is at 8%,. SUREEEEE. More like wages are up only 8% while everything else is borderline hyperinflation

Wow interesting The United States was sending mix messages to Ukraine, which futher exuberantes this scenerio we now face. On the front end they were telling Russia and Ukraine we won't get involved only to turn around and covertly enter America into this war. Had they said from the beginning that they would offer substantial economic support if Russia invaded Ukraine ,then Russia may have decided to negotiate before it got to this point. Looks like Ameriica and the world will pay a heavy price for this war.

I hope anyone reading these articles will realize that America was an independent energy country(very rare in the world) AND the U.S could, if we really wanted or had any leadership, except autocratic socialists and demented heads, we could produce all the fertilizer we need and export it too. BUT even more important we could be the food pantry of the world. We have the most capable and advanced horticulture in the world. It is simply not touched.
Fx: we grow huge amts. of corn for ethanol,NOT food corn. And ethanol is useless!

Net energy independent which is not energy independent. We are severely energy dependent on crude oil, in the 35% deficiency range. If you add all energy sources, oil, natural gas and coal we are net energy independent. Try dumping coal into your vehicles gas tank and see how far you can travel. We also depend on other countries for fertilizer, we are far from self sufficient, it's a pipe dream to think otherwise.

Food is everywhere, people used to go out and gather it for free. Do you think caveman went down to 7-Eleven for a Slurpee and some pizza rolls or even just to the grocery store to buy meat and vegetables. NO! They went out and foraged pretty much the same plants that are available today. The human race has become very lazy in relying on others to feed them. You don’t have to go to a grocery store and spend money to feed yourself. What if you started studying what wild plants are edible, there are many books on this subject, what if you learned how to fish for a source of meat, I’m pretty sure there are many many many did I say many fishing videos posted by avid fisherman who are more that glad to show you many techniques on how to catch fish on THE UA-cams? Stop relying on society. Think through the problem, Within the problem lies the solution. Sometimes you can’t rely on others to pull you out of the ditch, sometimes you have to put some men boots on and pull yourself out of the ditch.

If countries moved toward foraging instead of agriculture, their population capacity would drop dramatically and starvation would ensue. You're advocating for movement backwards, in fact movement backwards to 1000s of years in the past. Agriculture is responsible for much of the population growth of the last thousands of years.
