Breathless is the adults only resort (18 years and older) which is part of the Secrets franchise. Although Breathless does not have it's own beach, Secrets has a VIP section for Breathless guests. Regarding the microwave missing from the room, "pretty common" in All Inclusive Resorts in Jamaica. They really don't want you storing food in the room considering it's so accessible on the resort.
Hey thanks for your review... As a local..I'd wanna recommend Moon Palace Jamaica Grande to you... It's in St. Ann Ocho RIos so it's in the centre of the town and much closer to all the additional amenities you wanna enjoy so saving much more on transport toom.
@@kashaansmalltrusty6820 hello, how many resorts have you stayed at in Jamaica. Being that you’re a local, I’m curious which resorts has the best and most authentic Jamaican food?
They do that bc they know you a foreigner so they charger u more it's good u get a tour guide or someone you can trust to take you around even with food
I was shocked by the transportation costs, but then I read where the drivers have to pay a lot of fees on top of the high prices for the vehicles and gas, so the amount they actually get paid is not great.
Yes,, you need lots of tipping money 💰 !!!! They should have told you that there are Cambio money services to exchange your larger bills. I was just there & did it. Just be careful when going. Also, I no longer stay in all inclusive hotels anymore. If, your not a big drinker; that's a waste of money. My local hotels are very nice & the people absolutely love me. I get extra special attention for a whole lot less!!! And, I got a microwave and refrigerator to store & heat my food.
never use US dollars use Jamaica Dollars & for the taxis get a route taxi to get around it like $2 a trip..i went to Dunn's river using a taxi payed my own entry cost of my trip 1300JD not the hotel prices or tours operator you get who charge up-to $130....you must be crazy if you think i paying them prices...people really need to start doing there homework when visiting here.
@@j.1684it’s like there public transport they are everywhere they pick up everyone & are short journeys stops they have red plates & will say route taxis on the side & there destination
Fam, I went to Montego Bay for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and you definitely aren't lying about the taxi prices, I also made the mistake of not knowing that the atms didn't take my bank card and had to go to one at a store across from my resort that charged 15 dollar withdrawal fee
FOR CORRECTION: You can come to breathless if you stay at secret st james if you have the vip beach club access. It gives access to breathless restaurants and events.
Great video! All these views and no likes? This is great and very helpful information. Thanks for sharing. I’m taking my wife for her birthday on New Years Eve, any suggestions? Looking for one stop shopping. Also did you guys use a travel agent and which one of you did?
Thank you for the positive feedback. Awesome, you guys will love it. We did not book through a travel agent as it was list minute, for future trips we definitely will as to get better rates. One stop shopping. Our driver took us to a store that was next to the Harley Davidson dealership, was real nice and had everything we needed
Thank you for sharing. I'm going in September with a few business partners. I love my hot coffee however I will drink it cold as well. I will let my partners know about the microwave. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Bro, it isn't covid19 it's just JA. Try Negil next time the cabs are less and you can walk almost everywhere it's all of 7 miles of town... Mexico gives way more for ya buck. Riviera maya Playa del carmen or Tulum are my favorite cities. Most all resorts offer shuttle til 4pm and after a cab is $8-30 max ✌🏾
I would go outside the hotel and hail a taxi and ask what is their destination. Depending on where you wish to go, I find them very helpful by pointing you in the right direction. Bear in mind that you might be sharing with other passengers. If you use a charter taxi then the cost will be much higher. I always travel like the locals
Only use the taxi service with a red number plate. If you in mobay area then it’s very easy to get around using the local taxi most short journey is between 100-250ja$ use the bus park at the end of Barnet street at the corner of Courts furniture store. Have small notes available. I hope this is helpful.
I always negotiate & get them down. I was just there & it was myself and my friend. I paid $40- for both of us. He ran me around in the rain for 2 hours in a clean air conditioned van.
You dont need to negotiate with them anymore, just prepare popcorns when next hurricane hits Jamaica and enjoy watching taxi drivers washed down the sea🤗
Yes, no microwave was my biggest complaint. I hate wasting good left overs. Lol My only other complaint is not having laundry area to do my laundry for the return. I hate traveling with dirty clothes. 😩😩😩
I thought about this BUT i believe they are a little expensive $400 US when I looked and if your not comfortable driving over seas (you will see how driving is done when you leave the airport, it’s a free for all) and god for bid your in accident, don’t know how that is all handled, I probably say I wouldn’t. Might be more of a pain in the long run.
@@HanginWithPA yeah, driving there might be a little challenging. I’m glad you highlighted the transportation concerns because I was wondering about all that since we would want to get out and explore as well as take some excursions.
We just paid the people, at the end of the day your on vacation enjoy it, just wish I would have known about the cost prior to going. Enjoy your stay 💪🏽🤙🏽
My travel agent mentioned that Secrets would be better a couples who are doing a honeymoon, anniversary and a larger couples trip. Breathlesss for singles or those wanting to party. The VIP area (Xhale Club) is quiet so it’s for those wanting a quieter time or couples. Quiet pools and accommodations.
You cannot compare BREATHLESS or SECRETS with Altamont Court hotel. Besides being all-inclusive, both BREATHLESS & SECRETS are 4/5 star hotels, whereas Altamont is like 2 or 2.5 breakfast and bed. Altamont sit right on the road side with all the traffic noises of both vehicles and people. Then not to mention the amenities offered at Altamont which are nowhere close to the top two other hotels. Altamont is for travelers who just want a bed to sleep, with very little areas on the property to hang out for leisure.
