The little mermaid levels are a cancerous tumor on Kingdom Hearts I and II
Kingdom Hearts 1’s water level was okay at best until you hit literally any combat encounter, then it becomes the most uncomfortable thing you’ll ever play.
I hear a voice whenever I go to sleep; a harrowing, frightening voice that always strikes terror into my heart, repeating the same sentence over and over again, "SWIM THIS WAY WE'LL DANCE AND WE'LL PLAY!"
I'd rather play 2's Atlantica rather than 1's Atlantica. KH1's Atlantica was hell, not only on where you're supposed to go, but the combat is terrible. Atleast KH2's Atlantica has a smaller play space and I'd rather push buttons and listen to songs rather than what KH1 had to offer.

The Water Temple is honestly my favorite dungeon in OOT. It's the first time I actually didn't use walkthroughs and I feel so proud finishing it.

My stress would be through the roof with bullet hells, but I'm decent with 1 block jumps. The water in Chemical Plant can suck a fat one, though. Not so much the music as how few bubbles there are, and how sloggish movement is. It was ok in Mania, though.
Good thing it's possible to beat all of Sonic 2 without entering water once. There's a secret wall you can spindash through in the top route to skip the rising water section.

I don't really count it as an escort mission if there is no possibility to fail the escorting. In other words, there needs to exist the possibility that you fail the mission _because_ you failed to successfully escort the NPC to the destination. If no such failure is possible, it's not really an escort mission. It's purely cosmetic at that point.

@@TwiggehTV because they're a challenge. They slow your movement so they force you to change your playstyle and adapt to the situation. If you're trying to run through a area, the swamps force you to stop and take in everything. It's a playstyle change and a challenge for people. And that's why from soft (and me) like swamps.

My least favourite under water mission in my play through was when I almost drowned in the kitty pool when I was 7.
The worst part is is that water levels aren't inherently bad. Ori 1 and 2 both have incredibly precise controls, which is where most water levels fall all on. The under water parts in Ori feel great so good water levels can exist.

The water levels in Rayman Origins. The look and sound so gorgeous they melt your brain. And most importantly, the swimming is fast and responsive.

i'd say the only levels i hate more than water levels are snowy levels. they usually have some kind of christmasy music and... *shudders* sliding mechanics
Also, the sliding mechanic never applies to enemies, only the player.
I do like snow levels with more of a John Carpenter The Thing vibe and no annoying sliding or really slow snow trudging. Also the Rayman Origins snow levels, those were pretty cool.
Sometimes I really like the sliding mechanics but the ultra high pitch "cold music" is almost guaranteed to be complete crap as well as a headache. If anything I just want to have snow-boots or ice-cleats that are de-activatable/activatable instantly with just one button, so I can slide when it's fun and stop when it's not.
Ice physics can be executed fine but christmassy music has a dedicated place in hell.
Thank God for Ratchet and Clank, even though it isn't completely guiltless of that

I remember when this video was uploaded when I was on a round country road trip with my best friend in Seattle in a hostel in Chinatown. After driving all morning through Oregon, finally getting to shower and sit down before seeing Seattle, I watched this video, and I distinctly remember wanting to come home to binge every NakeyJakey video possible because I loved that video so much. Helped me forget about the stress of going place to place and also brought me back to home and comfort when visiting so many places. Jakey felt like a home away from home more so than my Dad calling me when I was in Boston saying something about beans before abruptly hanging up. Dog Bless

Ultrakill has amazing water levels, the floaty controls work very well and it feels even faster imo
Rayman Origins deserved a mention for making water levels really, really cool. Also the best water level music ever, love that game.
For Sonic 2 and Sonic Mania btw, water serves as a soft punishment for not being good or fast enough. In general levels are designed that if you take the higher path you're a badass, if you fall in the water ever during a good Sonic game you just plain screwed up. Most of the time it can be avoided entirely or sped through at proper speed (Hydrocity does have unavoidable water, but is a good level so hey) It's one of many tools to reward good gameplay on the player's part, along with gaining speed being a thing you can only do the better you get at the game.
