A risky move can ''repay'' you well! I bought a damaged, dealership, 5-Digit Explorer 2.

- Today we are looking at a dealership special, the Rolex Explorer 2 16570, a 20 years old watch.
Was it worth the hassle? Let's see.
Cheers,

Nice watch, great photography 👍. These five digit models are great, lighter, comfortable on wrist, drilled lugs, reliable movements and they were freely available from friendly ADs. I bought a Datejust in 1996, a pleasant experience, lovely watch, but it has all changed since then ☹️
Very well described and summarized :) Thank you very much!
Congrats on the new addition! Prefer the red color vs the current orange, but my current gen Polar Explorer2 fits my large 7.5+" wrist so well. Cheers!
Enjoy it! Solid piece to own! :)
Congrats on your purchase. I don’t know if watch proportions get any better than this. And I love the colors; white with black and red highlights. So clean *Chef’s Kiss
Great presentation and I love the music you use in your videos. This is one of my fav watches along with the older GMT Pepsi. I think they have a similar case.
Thank you very much! :)
I miss that era of Rolexes. The thought behind the watches wasn’t like nowadays. They were more toolish, and not blingy and for douches.
Congrats to the new watch!
Well said! I totally agree! Thank you very much! :)
True- the pre ceramic Versions were rather still Tool watches...now they are shiny luxury products sadly.
And the Explorer ist nice!
Nice score Andrei! I would be bothered too much. Like a fine Toyota, consider it barely run in! 😂
🤣 Supra all the way! :)
@@BraveBeaters Now your talking!
Nice polar 16570, I have one too! You could get the case laser wielded to sharpen up the case if you wanted to 😊
Cool Rolex my brother.... thank you for the video.....I always enjoy your videos
Thank you Michael! :)
I totally agree about the drilled lugs. Do you know why they stopped???
Here's proof that rolex could still make watches that wear as well as the fantastic tudor black bay 58.
I am envious of you........lolol
haha! :)
Congratulations on your new acquisition! Beautiful piece! ❤
Thank you very much! :)
Congratulations! I like the old 39mm version very much. Good luck with the movement 👍
Thank you very much! :)
Random question.... What's the backing music you use please? Thanks
Hi, I assume you are talking about this one: Sémø - Fractured Timeline
@@BraveBeaters thanks mate 👍
Thats solid endlinks. Not hollow, ur piece is a transition model wi4h the best of both worlds, hence the drilled lug yoles and solid end links
Good job. The Explorer II is my favourite Rolex but I would never buy one. Way out of my price tolerance.
Curiously, I just bought a Seiko 5 SSK023K1 GMT, wich I guess gives me a bit of Explorer II vibes without the high price. I’m loving it, very fun watch.
Yes, the "vintage" ones went way too much up in price. There is no reason to get one for 7,8 K. That 5 GMT is a beauty, enjoy it! I wanted to grab one for myself :)
Cool congratulations, like this " retro" model . 🎉 Great video 😊
Thank you very much! :)
Great video - I love the explanation of why the 5 digit models are great. I have a 226570.
Great video, love the 16570 polar, probably my favourite Rolex past or present! And congrats on the watch!!
Thank you very much! :)
Nice watch. But looks over-polished to my eye I’m afraid. Radial brushing on the bezel has gone, as you say.
Wow!
Rolex has become too blingy. I prefer a watch such as the Grand Seiko over Rolex. I live in Las Vegas; those wearing Rolex are gangsta with more money than they know what to do with. (I don't want to know where they get their money. They are the type of clientele who if they don't like you will have you beat up.) Rolex, now, has negative connotations. It's unfortunate, because your find is terrific.
I have owned a dozen of modern day rolex but now only have two 5 digit rolex in my collection…they’re the best!
Wear it in good health!
I hope to add one to my collection. I love this watch since I’ve seen it on managers wrist about a decade ago.
Thank you very much! Solid piece to collect indeed and hope you will get yours soon :)
Cheers!
Rolex was a sign of wealth and success even in the 90s. But it is still an amazing watch. Great vid.
Un orologio che non rientra nei miei gusti come quasi tutti i Rolex
I see it a bit different. but I feel you :)
On blast! 💥 Love it 1:02
Full gold :)
Fine vid Andrei ! Thanks
❤️
YES, more vintage pieces please!
Congrats brother, welcome to the pre vintage Rolex fanboy club!
Thank you M! It is indeed a totally different experience, I am glad I did it! :)
Nice pick up!. I had one a while back (owned it about 10 years) but prices went mental so I cashed in and sold it at a ridiculous profit. Kinda wish I still had it as it is one of my favourite Rolexes - built in a time when they made decent quality tool watches and not the chav baubles they make now.
Very well said, more like honest tools than statement watches. The "drilled" lugs versions are something apart! :) Cheers!
Agree with you. I recently purchased a 16610 after owning a few modern Rolexes. It felt like I bought a real Rolex with this purchase than the others. Polished case for vintage and neo-vintage is a little unavoidable since many went into dealership servicing several times, unless it's a safe queen or the previous owner preferred it looking worn.
Well described, yes :) that sub is a beauty!!
Five digit references are the way to go with Rolex, and that is a good buy. Personally I would keep the Explorer 1 as it and the 2 with a white face are complimentary.
I might upgrade it to the 40 mm size. To get a bit of presence. Other than that, super design, I love it.
great watch, the explorer is my personal best when comes to rolex, the fool with the bezel protection is coming from a Facebook watch group which I follow 😂 he got some stick before he turned off the comments 😅
Haha! I've seen it today and I said, It's fun to share it :) Cheers!
Could't agree more. Always loved the 16570 both polar and balck. Love your videos! Greetings
Explorer 2, Explorer 36, Datejust Fluted Jubilee, and OP 39 are the best Rolex watches ever made- I'm personally not a fan of the fancy over polished ceramic garbage!
Love this piece you received- I personally wear the 216570 due to having bigger wrist, I absolutely love the design of the 40
Nice watch
Very well done.
I'd be willing to get up off the couch again for the Rolex 😁
Hahaha! 🤣
2:56 😂😂😂
Can you comment/compare to the christopher ward c63. They have many similar features and 1/10th the price. Thanks!
When It was launched, I asked for one for review. unfortunately I wasn't back in the days that attractive content wise and they didn't sent one. But what do I know about CW, they are well made.
Please ask them again, i love ur reviews and would really like ur oppinion on them. They now lunched a 36 variant of the gmt sealander.
Well done 👍
❤️
Winner! 🥳
❤️
I love this watch! The only thing that could make it better for me is if the bezel rotated!
yes, It would had been something apart to have a rotating bezel :)
More rugged with a fixed bezel. Allso, u have the gmt master 2 for a rotating one. If this model had one it would not be much to sperate the two models. I love the fixed one! More toolish feel and look!
Why? Why someone need a rotating bezel ?
@@Runner862 I like a rotating bezel to time things from burgers on the grill to “15 more minutes, Dad!”. I don’t like to do mental math. That’s why I specified that it would be more perfect “FOR ME” if the bezel rotated.
Back to rolex... to generate content and views!😮
haha! It's my watch, ofc it was going to receive a video.
Sa il porti sanatos! ❤
Sarumana! :)
