When it came to installing our SeeLevel Tank Monitoring System we decided to add new wiring instead of using the current wiring. We opted for this so we could compare the two systems, and since we're not the handiest of people we thought it safer to leave the old system alone. Running new wire was preferred for us anyway since we knew our wiring path from previous installs (like solar and battery) and it would be easier to problem solve if there was an issue. We used the SeeLevel II 709-4 four our system: www.getawaycou...

Running the wires is usually the hardest part of any electrical upgrade. I have wanted to install the SeaLevel Tank system in my RV for 2 years now and I keep putting it off. As for RV Upgrades I use them all the time they always have what I can't find anywhere else.

I’ve heard of these sensors before. Thanks for the excellent video on it. Agree with you about boondocking and uncertainty about levels in grey, black, and fresh water tanks. Jersey Mike Grand Design ‘20 Momentum 351M, ‘17 F450

Our RV (which is our first RV) came standard with these sensors. So while I don't have any basis for comparison, I really like the SeeLevel a lot. I wish it were even more precise! Ours jumps by about 4 to 5% at a time. So it starts out at 0, then doesn't change until it shows 4, then doesn't change until it shows 8, and so on. I'd love to see it show each percent - 0%, 1%, 2%, and so on, but what it *does* do is pretty great. I think the Bluetooth connectivity would be awesome as well!

Would love to hear more about your Home Assistant setup and how you configure the RV LAN and WAN with what I suppose is a mobile hotspot. I use Home Assistant at my bricks and sticks home, not sure how I would setup the mobile version. Great video about the SeeLevel!!

So I just recently saw an ad for the Bluetooth version. I’m just finishing the replacement of the Micropulse tank monitoring system on our 2013 Airstream FC 30 RBQ.

They work well though we occasionally get mis-readings from the black tank sensor. And due to the weird Tetris-like tank shapes, 60% of the capacity is in the lower 50%. This is in a diesel pusher where the tanks need to slide under the frame rails and still take advantage of the height on each side. Anyway, thank you for the videos.

Hi guys, awesome job and very helpful video. Curious if you could share more detail about how you did wiring? Was it just one long set of wires running between the furthest tank and the control panel, that you then spliced the other tank sensors into? Is there a word for that kind of splice (I'm assuming it's different than a butt splice, which is end to end vs. end to middle section of wire) if that is what you did? Thanks!

Amazing content. Didn't even know this existed. I've yet to open my underbelly cover on my 337 RLS. Doesn't look like it would be that hard to pull down and put back up.
On a side note, I put two antenna's (Directv, ToGo) on my roof. It was hard to figure out how to get from roof to basement. Discovered a "Void" behind my linen closet and shower enclosure. Love our GD but next time you "In the Know" people talk to your GD POC's, tell them a "Pass Through" from roof to basement would be a nice thing to put into their 2022 plans. :) :) :)
    Again, amazing content.

Thanks! What year GD to you have? They started adding exactly what you're talking about in late 2018/early 2019 models already! We know because we were jealous the model after us had the roof access and ours didn't for our solar install! We get you, drilling into your roof is scary stuff lol.

Jason have you been able to find out if the Seelevel system can feed your CCGX tank level display inputs?

    • @GetawayCouple

Not yet but they are working on it -
      community.victronenergy.com/articles/14125/rv-c-protocol-and-victron.html
Victron already has the ability to read the existing resistive tank sensors though with standalone modules that are expensive or some the GX series have it built in

How do these sensors measure tank volume from the outside of the tank?

    • @GetawayCouple
      @GetawayCouple  4 роки тому +2

They have electronics embedded in the printed circuitry that send signals through the tanks contents to determine the level! :)
