I love watching fights in anime where you can actually see them exchange blows with each other or with sword clashes they actually strike and not just a big lazy blur, yeah you could say “Oh it’s just cause their fast” but it’s honestly doesn’t bring as much emotion or thrill as a fight where you can see the fist and not just a line.
The fact that Goku's wearing an expression of anger that he almost never has just makes this whole fight more intense, with them both clenching their teeth and throwing everything they have into just landing a hit one each other.
It’s the fact it took so long for one of them to make contact because they were seriously getting a feel for each other the choreography of this fight and set up for Gohan was just top tier

Honestly one of the best fights because it truly felt like a one on one with evenly match fight with a focus on hand to hand combat. Really felt like the older dragonball fighting tournaments.

One of my favorite fights was also the SS2 Goku vs Kid Buu fight. Excellent choreography and Goku's smirk as he floats over Buu is burned into my memory

Fun fact: SSJ2 Goku vs Kid Buu was filler. In the manga, goku went to SSJ3 straight away. This is why i recommend only watching two filler episodes; driving test episode, and SSJ2 goku vs Kid Buu.

Cell Games Saga is my all-time favorite Arc in DBZ, absolutely love this fight
This easily makes my top 5 for fights in dbz
One of my favorite fights was also the SS2 Goku vs Kid Buu fight. Excellent choreography and Goku's smirk as he floats over Buu is burned into my memory

@@shlimey04this is.. canonically false. Grade 4 goku was outright weaker than gohan, we know this as even in the manga ssj gohan vs cell, Gohan was actually dominating cell, landing devastating blows. He just couldn’t bring himself to kill him.

Fun fact: SSJ2 Goku vs Kid Buu was filler. In the manga, goku went to SSJ3 straight away. This is why i recommend only watching two filler episodes; driving test episode, and SSJ2 goku vs Kid Buu.

There was passion in the artists back then. They wanted to accomplish something and make a mark in history. Today’s db artists are facing such a high bar coupled with deteriorating social and economic conditions, they just want to get the job done. 😢
I remember hearing they got a SUPER short time to animate the episodes. No wonder it was so lifeless
