  • 💥Increased Vertical Oscillation…💥
A relatively common run form preference/impairment that we see with runners.
From an efficiency / run form economy standpoint, having increased vertical oscillation means that a runner is spending an increased amount of energy to move their body up and down in space rather than forward.
Learning to keep their center of mass more stable, with less “bobbing up and down” can help with running economy as this energy can be redirected to moving forward while utilizing the same amount of energy.
🧠Having increased vertical motion can increase the impact forces on joints and musculotendionous structures, which can contribute to injuries such as Achilles tendinitis and knee pain.
When we see this type of run form in conjunction with pain/injury, it may be worth making some run form changes to help get to the driver of the pain.
