      Frank if they would build it 100 feet longer it would be worth paying 3-5 bucks to get on it . Out there is a drop off and drum and sharks hit real good . I use to go there when there was a couple of 2X12 to climb on before they opened it. In the summer 2 guys that had a surf board and would paddle baits out there and caught a hammerhead that me and my brother help load into their red Datsun and the tail stuck out about 3 feet !!! I think they needed a bigger truck . I think they lived on Del Mar street the 3rd house up.

      Love the positivity we need more of it to change this old timers that have been keeping Corpus from growing for their own selfish agendas. But we have a new city assistant manager from San Antonio who is more progressive. See this city has been doing the same for 20 years. It was maybe 4 years ago that new people came in and slowly started the process of changing it. But because most of Corpus is under poverty level and alot of people have homestead exemption, meaning they aren't paying taxes on their homes, they are not putting anything back into Corpus. We need a new mayor in 2020 one who is not a part time mayor. Yeah our current and last mayor were part time mayors?!! I mean common now!

    Change is needed regardless if people don't like it or not. Too many people want Corpus to remain a sleepy town, untouched and broken down. The mindset of the residents have to change as well. As someone who grew up in the F. Bluff area I have tons of ideas for this area as well.

    Are you kidding, me Corpus Can't take care of what it has. How long have the water gardens & Ocean Dr. fountain been broken. Where are the Columbus Ships now. How about the wind generators on the bay front. Look at landscaping all around town, drive down Yorktown and take a look at that landscaping investment. How much was spent on the downtown streets, on an area of town that is dead? Lets fix the streets here now, Before adding another albatross of a project we can't afford or keep up. Should we talk about the old dilapidated federal court house that has been an eyesore for the 40 yrs I have lived here? If Current city government and management vote for this project, I say fire them it's our money there spending foolishly.

    • @RnWSolutions
      @RnWSolutions  5 років тому +16

      I've lived in Corpus 2 1/2 years and I think the cost of living is among the lowest in the nation except for restaurants, which makes sense since its a large tourist economy. I read the road repair budget doubled for next year to fix the bad roads. What Corpus seems to be missing is large employers, and projects like the bridge will help. See the bridge video.

      So why should it be the longest/tallest bridge in south Texas? Does it have to be at that length to satisfy the project’s ultimate goal?
      In addition, the city and it surrounding neighborhood isn’t the best with its current council and board members. Is there any plan to set aside a certain amount to help develop the bridges’ surrounding area?

      profiles, gambling in casinos is banned in the state of Texas. Personally though, I feel like we need more shopping and dining options to get more tourists. We need to take lessons from other thriving cities, maybe instead of focusing our advertising on La Palmera and its rather boring stores, we should add a new mall on the map similar to the Riverwalk in San Antonio or Ala Moana Center in Honolulu. Thats personal opinion though, feel free to differ.

    Looks and sounds good but honestly we don’t have the right people running the city, city management is terrible and infrastructure sucks. We can’t take care of the Crap now, what makes them think we can take care of a utopia like this. For example, the fountains downtown are not working right now even though they are installed(waste of money), the small turbines on shoreline that are supposed to be generating power ended up being some retarded decorations, they could of tore down the old court house piece of crap last year(2018) but the city took a small $1.9 million grant for renovation instead back in 2002 even though it still looks like shit and haven’t made it look nicer, the mayor likes to cut law enforcement money. This is just naming a few...corpus shouldn’t have anything nice until someone cleans house on the board and city management.

    I like everyone is negative. "I've been living in Corpus for two years, three years." You've been in Corpus for a short while so quit it with your negativity. This is going to cost a lot and to be honest I was shaking my head because this might not happen; but I also said to myself, I hope they are able to complete this for locals and visitors. The roads may be too off on the illustration but I didn't blur out negativity and saying drugs will not make this dream come true. I hope for the best for the poor areas for I know that particulate area and it's not good. I hope one day they will get more of the help from the city than this dream. I hope for the best of the city of CC. CC is my second home, been visiting since I was 4, now 23. I love good change but not corrupted change. I love CC and its change recently. But negativity isn't going to take you no where. The dream is too big but one by one, piece by piece, it'll happen. Yeah I'm sorry but it's not going to happen in that time frame and use a company that has a fail rate in building bridges. The city needs to take care of the rest of the city as far as the economy..could of had bass pro shop and brought in a ton more money but nope..and then the HUGE failure of a so called water park..I have sprinklers that are more fun and dont cost 40 to 70 a person. Also fix the roads and stop redoing the ones you already do over and over and over again. Then this city can finish a big project cause they need to kick all the city council people out and allow new and young people in cause they know what's thriving and help bring in money. Then the Crime is just horrible and nothing gets done. I've lived her for 30 years and have seen this town throw away great ideas to bring in money and to make this a better city but it's just gone down hill yeah after year and getting worse and worse. I'm sorry to say this but it's the truth and the city doesn't listen to us people that stuff there pockets full while we get screwed yeah after year. But I'll be taking the long way around and not going on that bridge cause of who is building it..and the city wants to cheap out and then when something goes wrong guess who has to pay...us tax payers constantly pay for they mistakes and wrong decisions. I can keep going but the ones that lived here for years know what I'm talking about.

They said they were going to fix it up years ago..got started and ditched the project like they do with anything else of that scale. The only thing keeping that area alive is the Aquarium and the Lexington. And just say by chance they do finish it all it would be a 10 to 15 year project before it got done. Don't get me wrong I would love to see this finished in a timely manner and would definitely help out tremendously, but the city always drops the ball on major major projects. Once its finished and the supertankers can finally start coming in like you said will boost the city's economy and bring in more jobs which equals more money coming in. I really do hope they can finish it in a timely manner along with Northshore cause all of that really needs addressed and bring back to life. Plus itll help get ride of most..not all but most..of the drug problems there. I stopped going to Northshore cause I was tired of seeing needles, pipes ect..and all the trash left behind all over the beach. I don't want to step on a needle nor do I want my kids to see any of that. When we do it's to go to the aquarium or the Lexington and then we leave that area. Hurricane Hanna, Harvey, Celia, shows clearly why specific areas should not be developed. But many people do make poor financial decisions all the time. This will be one more example. Dubai and Singapore, we can build mistakes too.

      Did you sustain any damage from any of those storms? We did not, we are 4 blocks from the bay and things were pretty mild. Anything along any coast is in the line of a storm. That's why we build to hurricane code.

      @@RnWSolutions Revamping North Beach is nothing new. Bottomline, it's a concern about "fresh water." Any development south of San Antonio is high risk. South Texas operates solely on "watershed" water sources, and it's not a "sustainable" water source. You can build to the strength of "meteor or EMF" code, people will buy then later move and sell. Sustainable water sources is the only guaranteed success for developing a metropolis that will draw a permanent populous.

    Why didn’t the the bridge engineers just design the cable towers to run throughout the whole length of the 5 football fields that new bridge will become???? That would’ve looked even better than the current new design on the bridge, and the old Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge.

      I'm not sure what you mean, the cable towers are in the center. There is a bridge rendering page I can forward when I find it.

      Indeed, Structural change is needed on all levels in my city & it shall be done. I'm proposing upping our security systems firstly, in which all threats incoming and outgoing shall have no place of harbour...as well as technical security all around the city. Tackling the so called pipe dreams of a green and clean city will no longer be just a dream, for you are right there are too many refined oil companies damaging the sanity and health of our city...but none of those workers deserve to be without jobs, the only change will be on the physical properties of oil refinery plants, cutting some away to make way for a more greener output of an energy efficient city. Btw Tesla coming to the city is a great step.

    What makes this city think that by putting canals into this project will work. People water will level itself out. If a storm or even high tide comes in north beach will still be under water. The canals can't stop the water. Water will just rise up within the canals. Remember water will level out.

    Property taxes are so high, that it’s driven out home buyers and you literally have a city of renters, which has made the crime levels skyrocket. All the kids parks here are riddled with unemployed drug addicts & sex offenders. The streets have more potholes than a block of Swiss cheese. But no drive away small businesses with the high taxes, and spend $1billion on a bridge so we can get a neat view of how dirty the entire city is.
