Awesome review, thanks for the vid. I ended up getting the M13 about a year ago, but I've wanted to get something a little bigger with more buttons and was stuck between these two. Your video helped me decide on the R16 cause that extra pinky button looks great for DI's.
R16 all the way for me as I wanna make use of my pinky rather than move my thumb. Although I would want to move the positioning of it...Keep up the great content!
I have both of them (my R16 is the clear one though, with transparent top plexi), and although I like the R16 a little bit more for it's button distribution and spacing (buttons on the R16 are slightly closer to each other than on the U16), I love how easy is to change art on the U16. I use the Booter 5 dongle from Haute for the PS5 compatibility and works perfectly :).
@@DavideNastri R16 is a sandwich of the PCB and Plexi layers. When you remove the screws to remove the top plexi actually all the layers come loose, not that it's a big deal, but it's a bit cumbersome, especially if, as is my case, you have adhesive cable guides glued around the USBC port to prevent damage from the weight of the cable. On the U16, the body construction itself is a plastic chassis with a Plexi top layer. When you remove the screws, only the Plexi cover comes off, which makes removing and putting on new designs faster and less complicated.
Thanks Chris for the review. One thing I noticed on my M16, and it seems unchanged for these two versions, the USB-C port on the controller is a little lose. I never had any disconnects yet but for tournament I think it is good to be aware that there is no cable lock function to secure the cable.
I got an R16 and use my left pinky for a DI in street fighter and think it's a great layout, though I've grown to realise one of the drawbacks of this method. sometimes when you're flustered you can do a random DI instead of a motion input. but if you try to be deliberate and avoid making this mistake, then your motion inputs become a bit slower. ease of access vs probabilty of a misinput are inversely proportional and you have to catch balance between the two. of course ultimately a misinput like that is not gonna be a permanent problem, you'll get used to it, but there's definitely a learning curve to having complete control over all of your fingers on the left hand, especially since it's the hand that is more "loaded" with complex inputs. I will say though i think R16 is massively underrated, it's basically the only offering from haute42 with a left pinky button.
I'm currently struggling to master rank with a R16, def recommend for the pinky options. I'd add that there is a crystal version of the R16 that has clear buttons for RBG, and that you can input custom art(I have a custom Ken piece in mine). All the Haute leverless controllers are also on sale on aliexpress at the moment, R16 is running 57 dollars USD until Dec 4
@@such-ej Parry, easier to hit with the left pinky instead of trying to fat finger the right one. I have Ken's run on another extra button, right side of jump
Just want to point out one thing. The R has a tighter button layous like the S series. The U has a T style button layout. I went with the u for bigger hands.
Looks pretty cool. I have been liking my huate42 G16 made some cool upgrades to it including punkwork shop buttons, also - for americans 3 meters is a little under 10 feet
I like the idea of a left pinky button but I'm wondering what people map to it. I feel like the separation of movement on the left hand and attacking on the right hand feel natural so the only thing that I would put there is parry though that would mess up my raw DR to the left because double tapping the ring finger with pinky held down feels awkward
I got one of their aluminum leverless controllers (M plus) and the colour came off on my hands with use until I had large light patches on the case. They told her it was due to sweat corrosion and is considered wear and tear. I was not happy especially as there was no prior warning about it.
oh man, i really wish there was an option for the layout and button size of the U16, but the build of the R16. i bought an S16 a while back for the layout and 24mm buttons, but i've wanted the larger panel size since then. might just have to settle for the U16 since it's the closest to my ideal controller and the price is still shockingly low
How spread are the buttons? I have bit small hands and I like to put my fingers on buttons all the time without having to reach for DI or parry. For comparison I have razer kitsune and buttons are too spread out for me.
Do you know if someone is about to release another keycap leverless in the likes of Haute B16? I'm more fond of the keyboard style when it comes to these tbh
Is there any kind anti-slip pads under both of thess controller? I wound like to use them on my lap but I'm scare that they might just slide off my thigh
@Flexium_GG I was planning on using them for that, but dont know what to map them controller wise . I put both thumb buttons as L3 and R3 respectively, but unsure what to bind the top 2 to.
For anyone considering Haute42 products, GET A MAGNETIC USB-C ADAPTOR. One good yank on the cable will ruin the USC-C port on these. I've had two Hautes die because of it.
its a nice tool for those who are new to fighting games and want to play on a device that give you optimal advantage over other other players aka cheat box but us old school players like it retro by playing on arcade lever stick. Every fighting game needs to place fighters in multiplayer based on what device they are using (pad, cheatbox, lever. keyboard) if not one device will always be superior than the other device making it an unfair match.
I was literally lookong for a 16 button leverless. Thanks!
Appreciate the review, great timing with the sales online. R16 looks really good.
hey man, you been pumping some solid content. respect.
I appreciate that! More coming soon
super thorough review dude, thank you, I love your channel
Thanks for the kind words!

Hi there!
Why is it easier on the U16?
Thanks :)

Nothing a piece of electrical tape can't fix

What action do you want to bind to pinky?

I absolutely love the PWS buttons, glad you were able to get them! They sell out so fast here in Japan
damn this guy is so handsome
jared leto-esque

Drive impact on the pinky is the way to go. You'll never get caught out again cos you're always ready
I hope you can review the M16 Plus
I already did months ago!
I got one of their aluminum leverless controllers (M plus) and the colour came off on my hands with use until I had large light patches on the case. They told her it was due to sweat corrosion and is considered wear and tear. I was not happy especially as there was no prior warning about it.
Oh wow. I haven’t had that happen to me but sorry yours ended up like that

I'd like to know what setup you use. Like if you have a dedicated parry or di button.
Parry on top right, DI on the top button above LP
My R16 black edition did not come with the hyper light USB cable. I got a generic usb cable.
Maybe they just sent it to me, dunno
How spread are the buttons? I have bit small hands and I like to put my fingers on buttons all the time without having to reach for DI or parry. For comparison I have razer kitsune and buttons are too spread out for me.
I measured myself and it’s 1cm from the edge of one button to the edge of the next one.
Less than a kitsune
@@Chris_F how's pressing the buttons feel? kitsune has one of the best but its subjective.
@erichan7926 not even close to kitsune, that controller is very unique.
@@Chris_F ya kinda sad, i love the feel on kitsune but too big for me.
Do you know if someone is about to release another keycap leverless in the likes of Haute B16? I'm more fond of the keyboard style when it comes to these tbh
My favorite one is the ASI LVL WASD
currently loking to get my first one, trying to decide between the two in your video. This helps a lot thanks!
Glad I could help!
Is there any kind anti-slip pads under both of thess controller? I wound like to use them on my lap but I'm scare that they might just slide off my thigh
The U16 has some very light padding on the corners while the R16 comes with some small pads you’ll have to attach yourself
Do these controllers work on Xbox Series X?
Answered this in the video
I play a command grab character what do you think about the hori controller
It just got announced a few hours ago I haven’t tried it yet. Looking forward to it though!
Hey Chris do those support optical switches or only mechanical?
Only low-profile mechanical
Is it the same size as the T16. I find the T16 too small for lap play. Wish it was a little bit bigger
Roughly the same. You sure you aren’t mistaking it for S16 size? Haute products , these included, are on the larger end for flat box style controllers
@@Chris_F Yea I have the T16. It's fine for most I'm sure but I sit cross legged when I play.
What is the difference with the T16?
I mention that in the video
Thank you
Welcome!
do you think this is an upgrade from the t16 in any way or just the same thing?
The R16 is has way less flex to it since it isn’t 100% acrylic. Buttons are different too but that’s obvious
random point but i think the h in haute is silent. its a french word meaning elegant.
Doesn't really mean that, élégant is the word for it, roughly it means high in french, but it's a Chinese company who knows what they mean by this
R16 really good for my big hand fellas
which is better than R16 or U16?
If only there was a video comparing the two
my U16 just arrived yesterday and I'm really happy with it. not sure what to do with the extra buttons though ahahaha
Function button/training shortcuts to min max the f out of your practice
@Flexium_GG I was planning on using them for that, but dont know what to map them controller wise . I put both thumb buttons as L3 and R3 respectively, but unsure what to bind the top 2 to.
Ah I see what you mean
THIS
Price? I caught it was on sale but didn't hear the price
U16 $68
R16 $78
@Chris_F thanks man
