Treat your Career like a Startup

The most successful lawyers are often those who adopt an entrepreneurial mindset. Lawyers with an entrepreneurial mindset view themselves not only as lawyers but as a personal brand too. They know how to how to gain trust and recognition and ultimately stand out in a crowded and competitive market.
Adopting an entrepreneurial mindset also allows lawyers to take more control over their career and forge their own career path often giving them a higher level of job satisfaction in return.
Inspired by the book The Start-Up of You written by Reid Hoffman (co-founder of LinkedIn) and Ben Casnocha, I give the following five tips on how to unleash your inner entrepreneur and treat your career like an entrepreneur would treat their startup:
1. Be curious
2. Be prepared to pivot
3. Assess your competitive advantage
4. Put yourself in challenging situations
5. Build relationships and real connections
