Honestly, I can't describe how much I love D.Gray-man, it's the one and only manga I go back to every 3 months eager to know what's going to happen in the next chapter. The love I have for Allen is unmatchable, he's the kind of character I cheer on and cry for, I just genuinely want to see him smile and be happy. Manga has so many qualities but I love how the further you go through the story, the less you know who the "good guys" and the "bad guys" are. We find ourselves loving and hating people on both sides. Also the mysteries around the Noah family, Past Allen, the Earl, the pillar... Everything is so well orchestrated and paced !
Watched this since I was in grade school. Now that I’m working, re-reading the Manga, I can definitely say DGM is a legendary classic. Until now, it still on par with the new generation of Shonen because of how layered its storytelling is 🤧
The thing about Lenalee is she's kind of a character type I've found occasionally elsewhere who I really like: it's the fact she described her perspective of the world as entirely composed of people she knows as a bad thing that makes it good. I mean, put it this way, growing up in an order told that you're essentially a holy army to save the world, the fact our cast are really fighting for personal reasons clashes with their upbringing. They would feel guilty and selfish or question what they're supposed to do. Allen's arguably the closest to the sort of exorcist they really want since he's very self sacrificial with his motivation, but it's probably the order itself which makes him grow out of that and redefine what he's fighting for.
I’ve loved D.Gray-Man for years. Randomly found it dubbed on Netflix when I was younger and from then I’ve rewatched the anime and reread the manga many times and I can’t wait for more updates to the story.
I've been a DGM fan since I was a kid, it was airing dubbed on a kids channel in my country. I couldn't get enough of it and watched it over and over again on the internet. Years later I read the manga. Might have cried a couple of times.. DGM and Allen Walker are very very dear to my heart. It may seem a bit funny to say, but I'm not afraid to say it - it genuenly shaped me as a person, it really did. Even as an 8 year old tracing screenshots and making OCs and trying to get my friends to watch it by showing them images of Tyki Mikk hahah And to today- I'm in University now, procrastinating on doing my hw that's due today, tearing up hearing the 14th's melody. Ohh, don't get me started on the 14th and The Earl.. I'm sorry for rambling, I'll stop now, DGM does that to me haha. I've cried multiple times to it, seldom does that happen when I engage in such media but there you have it. DGM is a part of my heart, it really is.. Thank you Katsura Hoshino, and happy birthday🎂

D. Gray man to me has too many mysteries and mix up on the plot and the secret of the characters... But damn if the high of the series aren't so damn high. I love the whole aesthetic, the character development and the power system of the series, every moment is legendary and will remain in your mind for quite some time. Alma karma was an incredible display of writing
I fuckin love everything about D. Gray Man! Like, the name, the music! (I started watching after I heard the 4th opening song and the fuckin 2nd ending song! Yes it was soo funky, I was at the end of em episode it was iconic!) the SSS tier art style of the manga. I love the characters and all the individual details Hoshino put into it. I really appreciate her for being able to make updates even if it does take time, as a NANA fan, I understand that mangakas deserve to take time away until they feel better. I’m glad I was able to experience the gem it is.
My two favorite shounen are World Trigger and then D.Gray-Man. I’ve reread these series several times now and I love them more every time. Feeling the itch to reread these they’re so good,
This is my favorite manga/anime. And it’s not even over😎 I remember watching this when it was on Netflix a decade ago, and it completely capturing my interest, the dark tone, with the hopeful character battle some biblical level threat. Despite that Allen remained a good soul, trying to save people, and demons alike. Still eagerly reading as the chapter trickle out, will read it till it’s done. Holds a place in my heart for sure.
The first time I heard about D.Gray-Man was back in 2015 after I got done playing Bloodborne, It quickly became one of my favorite games ever. So I was looking for something to fill that hole, until I came across d gray man and I really didn't know anything other than it had an amazing gothic artstyle which lured me into it.
I watched this anime in Spain in 2004 for the first time when I was 3 years old, now Im 22 and I have gone back to watch it multiple times I was so sad in 2016 when I discovered that the continuation was just 13 extra episodes I would love for the manga to continue with less hiatus I believe that the quality of the source material is enough to save the franchise. Waiting for the anime to continue after the manga gets finished too. It's iconic and I archetypal in a way. The concept and the way it's presented, the twists, the world building is stunning and Allen actually gets you through the story in and his arc in a way which is very interesting as a person of a person. Actually all character arcs are incredible somehow and constantly get built up.
D.Gray-Man has been one of my most favorite animes ever since I watched it 10 years ago. I'm currently reading the manga and I love it so much. I agree pretty much with all that you said. The art of Hoshino-sensei is beautiful, the characters are so lovable, Lavi is my favorite too but I really love all of them. And I really like the setting and world. I think the original anime is a very good adaptation. The soundtrack especially is one of the best in anime ever. Hallow is not bad but changing the voice actors was very weird for me and I never could get used to the new ones.
I get off work, and bro has uploaded another lost love of mine. I remember Binge watching D-grey Man. Back then, I didn't even know manga existed, so when the 2nd or 3rd season ended, nobody talked much about the newer seasons, and it slowly left my mind. Allen was one of my favorite charceter ever, whenever I made art I always had something from him or something inspired from him, albeit the Red arm, the scar, or even the white hair. I always found it just a fun, great Shonen anime, but during high school when I tried getting back into watching shows, I found it hard to even rewatch old loves like Hitman Reborn, D-Grey Man, Fairy Tale, YuYu Hakuho, Full Metal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell, Casshern Sins, and other anime/anime like series. I gotta say man, since watching your reborn video a while back, you've really become one of my favorite UA-camrs, when I watch a video of yours, I feel like him reliving old memories with a childhood friend, or talking with a new, soon to be best friend sbiut stuff we love. Keep it up man, you're doing amazing🎉
definitely cover Air gear, it’s a masterpiece with NO reputation at all on yt not even a lore video and you could be the first to drop one it’s definitely be big as someone who only saw the anime and just recently got on the manga it’s definitely worth it. Ikki’s growth, the lines between business and pleasure constantly blurring, the truth of the kings and their respective regalia also the “big bads” are actually interesting and the overlooking plot of Sora and Ikki, the sky kings of old and new comes full circle in an unbelievable climax! definitely a must read

Fantastic video 😊 also wanted to say that both D gray man and berserk are the types of manga people should reread from time to time due to both being on hiatus and is always fantastic to find things in both series that didn’t catch the first time
@@Red.Decimo I really think if the series finished well it should be a lesson to the industry, since Hoshino has done so much more than in my opinion her or most mangaka can physically achieve with weekly releases or without cutting chapter size for health reasons. I also think everyone should bear in mind that chapter length can grow, but it'd probably be more because she found methods of drawing all the panels which made things much faster(without compromising the art). I'm hoping the recent 38 page chapter is related to that video of panels being created using 3d modelling on unreal engine. Anyway a 15 page chapter from Hoshino over these years has never felt the same as one from anyone else, the character design background scenery and so on is just too good.
(core) so we got into d.gray-man in 2011, we read the manga first alongside pandora hearts which is another fantastic series with similar themes to dgm which also failed to get a full anime release with vanitas getting an adaptation before the original got continued
I think doing it so rigidly without spoilers took away from your points! Lines about what exorcists are from Kanda and Allen that late are not really disagreements in philosophy, it's more like Kanda is butting heads with him for ages because Allen is that sort of cliche self sacrificial type with no experience of the order at the start and to Kanda that just looks naive. As for Allen's character.. It's so jarring seeing his fake smiles not as part of an argument about how his ideals change and all the identity crises lol. "A bit of sadness" is the understatement of the century 😭😭😭 (seriously, think about his upbringing damn it!) I'd like to say one thing about tropes in the series. Allen is a deconstruction of the self sacrificial hero type who wants to save everyone. He's a deconstruction because you see how he ticks, his background explains why he believes in it and you see him realistically struggle with those ideals under pressure in a more realistic holy war. Also because I heard Hoshino said she doesn't like that sort of character and after all, whereas in many manga a hero can destroy themself to save others and win without having their ideals questioned, Allen's ideals literally put him in danger.
I've gotta check this out, a decade ago right before anime went mainstream (not hatin, just observing) I watched sooo many of the greats that began in the 90s and 2000s but I never got to this one, and if you're such a big Reborn fan then I trust your tastes as if you were family

The Dark Aesthetics was for me and the character devolpmemt. I watched D.Gray Man and I love it. One of the most memorable moments in D.Gray Man were Allen and Lenalee after a mission the Miranda Lotto one. Lenalee called Allen out on his Self Sacrafice and saying that he can rely on his friends. Allen pulls up to save Lenalee, saying, "Konbanwa Hakushaku!"And many others as well. I hope D.Gray Man can become weekly as Hoshino-Chans Health Improves So I can read Peak Gray Man see the series end and get one more anime adaptation.

D. Gray man is one of the serie that made an impact. Allen is propably my favorite MC. I was getting annoyed by most MC who only shouted their goals and were only optimistic but Allen is way different than the others with his optimistic because it's more of a coping mechanism. Other main characters are also fine (except Lavi but that's just my personal think). Lena lee is in my case the best female character in shounen because her streak is crazy, I didn't like Kanda at first but due to 2nd exorcist arc I started appreaciating him more. Krory is maybe my favorite out of them because I like how he's and exorcist who falled in love with Akuma. (I'm not a fan of romance in shounen but this was well done) Main Antagonist in form of Millenium earl is fantastic and I like how his backstory is revealed to us and especially who he really is to Allen. Other Noahs are also great especially Tikky Mikk and Road who created a bond with Allen and are quite different from other Noahs especially Tikky who kept his sense of humanity unlike the others. Apochrifos is someone in the gray area. A person I don't have really a oppinion. It's a shame what happend to the anime. D gray man is one of the best animes and did so much other animes could only dream of. Like getting canceled by one picture.
I love D.gray-man but I do have issues with the anime, particularly the episode My teacher cross, as it changes the character of villainizes Cross. Not all of the anime fillers based on light novels. The Lulu bell ark isn't and creates a plot hole. I think it's important to keep in mind that it's still filler and not Canon regardless of if it was in the light novel or not. More of a caveat than a reason to not watch the anime which is still wonderful 😊 I did want to mention my favorite part of the series and that's honestly the villains, particularly the Earl road and tyki. They're so unique and interesting. Tyki in particular, I find endlessly fascinating as a character

This is a series I remember reading when I was in my junior year of high school back in 2007. I think I must've stopped reading it at some point when it went on hiatus due to the author being ill. Over the years, I'd pick up on it and catch up here and there but I eventually dropped it again. It's a great series with charming characters, interesting story, and of course, great art but to be quite honest, I honestly cannot be bothered to *actively* keep up with it nowadays. Its release schedule is much too infrequent for me. For some time, it occupied the same sort of headspace as Berserk in that I had my doubts the manga would ever be finished simply due to its release schedule. That said, I WOULD like to get back to it at some point, though it is likely I'd have to re-read beginning to end (which I wouldn't mind at all as I could use the refresher).
My fvorite aspect has to be how realistic allen as a character is because He's been through.. let be honest. SHIT. He's been through hell and back. He doesn't get his powers just because the plot needs him to. He works hard for it and he literally lost his arm and got his eye poked by rhode. Like its CRAZY and tbh go king He's been rejected by society time and time again and he's working so hard to fit into the black order and make it his home only for him to be hunted down by the people he once considered his family

I love D.gray-man. I'm not entirely sure why I love it so to be honest. Is it the great characters? The dark vibe? The great music of the anime? Regardless, it's the first anime I watched when I officially started watching anime (I mean consciously watch anime, other than just watching pokemon, yugioh etc. on tv). I remember falling in love with it right from the very start. I especially got moved and hooked by the Ghost of Matter arc. I don't usually rewatch shows, but d.gray-man is one I've rewatched twice. Once with my older brother, when I got him into anime. When D.gray-man hallow came out, I remember I was ecstatic. I was kinda disappointed by it in the end though, resulting in me not even remembering much about it. The colors seemed off, they had some other VAs, and I was a bit confused by the story, probably because it had been a while since I last watched the original. I mean, the art was good, it just wasn't like the D.gray-man I remembered. I would like to read the manga, but have never done so yet. Mainly because I prefer reading it physically and I can't really afford to buy all these volumes... I remember wanting to cosplay Allen Walker back then, even though I'd never even heard of cosplaying back then. I was about 15 at the time. Now, I'm almost 30, but I still haven't cosplayed Allen (or cosplayed at all for that matter). I'd like to do it, but seems pretty hard/costly. Not to mention I have a big beard that I don't want to shave and is one big reason I haven't cosplayed 😅 Anyways, I digress. Woah, this comment turned out way longer than I thought. It got a bit out of hand.
I am still waiting for new chapters the manga stopped on a climax ... I am waiting to see where they are going and how allen is going to meet marshall cross again
We need a new season when the manga gets a little further along. Right now even though we haven’t had a new season in 5+ years the manga still isn’t a full season ahead of where the show left off but if this show never gets a proper ending it’ll be devastating. Please don’t pull a zatch bell…
The day I'm rich I put all the money it takes for the best animation studio to make a reboot of the whole series so the hype starts again ! That's how much I love this manga, I'm sure with how animes are popular nowadays and seeing series like JJK on top, there is no way D.Gray-man wouldn't gain all the attention it deserves
I've always been interested in reading D grey man after the 1st 2 animals so I might know wrong and read it. In my opinion hellsing and yuska Morata thave the best art style but D grey man is good to. Degree man it's truly a Is under rated series I think deserves love to along with blue exorcist and psyren. Ok lenale is great, i just like kandas, being funny. And yeah they all get deeper., also the manga has a fair bit great characters. And from the start Allen isnt just a good boy, through he is, but he from the start is shown as competent, tricky and has depth
I loved D.Gray Man... But it went Hiatus and it got confusing!? So i dropped it... i'll revisit the Manga again after its finished... Because it went the HunterXhunter route... Which is sad... :(
@@Red.Decimo gonna say regardless of people enjoying the anime, the manga would be much better if you feel it's slow. Since they waited for Hoshino to publish more chapters for a significant amount of time in earlier seasons, there's tonnes of side content used for the plot of episodes like 30-almost 50? Idk. In the manga it quickly goes from Krory joining them to the Suman Dark arc.

I remember watching this when it was on Netflix a decade ago, and it completely capturing my interest, the dark tone, with the hopeful character battle some biblical level threat.
Despite that Allen remained a good soul, trying to save people, and demons alike. Still eagerly reading as the chapter trickle out, will read it till it’s done.
Holds a place in my heart for sure.

The first time I heard about D.Gray-Man was back in 2015 after I got done playing Bloodborne, It quickly became one of my favorite games ever. So I was looking for something to fill that hole, until I came across d gray man and I really didn't know anything other than it had an amazing gothic artstyle which lured me into it.
I watched this anime in Spain in 2004 for the first time when I was 3 years old, now Im 22 and I have gone back to watch it multiple times I was so sad in 2016 when I discovered that the continuation was just 13 extra episodes I would love for the manga to continue with less hiatus I believe that the quality of the source material is enough to save the franchise.

Waiting for the anime to continue after the manga gets finished too. It's iconic and I archetypal in a way. The concept and the way it's presented, the twists, the world building is stunning and Allen actually gets you through the story in and his arc in a way which is very interesting as a person of a person. Actually all character arcs are incredible somehow and constantly get built up.

D.Gray-Man has been one of my most favorite animes ever since I watched it 10 years ago. I'm currently reading the manga and I love it so much. I agree pretty much with all that you said. The art of Hoshino-sensei is beautiful, the characters are so lovable, Lavi is my favorite too but I really love all of them. And I really like the setting and world. I think the original anime is a very good adaptation. The soundtrack especially is one of the best in anime ever. Hallow is not bad but changing the voice actors was very weird for me and I never could get used to the new ones.

I get off work, and bro has uploaded another lost love of mine. I remember Binge watching D-grey Man. Back then, I didn't even know manga existed, so when the 2nd or 3rd season ended, nobody talked much about the newer seasons, and it slowly left my mind.
Allen was one of my favorite charceter ever, whenever I made art I always had something from him or something inspired from him, albeit the Red arm, the scar, or even the white hair.
I always found it just a fun, great Shonen anime, but during high school when I tried getting back into watching shows, I found it hard to even rewatch old loves like Hitman Reborn, D-Grey Man, Fairy Tale, YuYu Hakuho, Full Metal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell, Casshern Sins, and other anime/anime like series.
I gotta say man, since watching your reborn video a while back, you've really become one of my favorite UA-camrs, when I watch a video of yours, I feel like him reliving old memories with a childhood friend, or talking with a new, soon to be best friend sbiut stuff we love. Keep it up man, you're doing amazing🎉
definitely cover Air gear, it’s a masterpiece with NO reputation at all on yt not even a lore video and you could be the first to drop one it’s definitely be big as someone who only saw the anime and just recently got on the manga it’s definitely worth it. Ikki’s growth, the lines between business and pleasure constantly blurring, the truth of the kings and their respective regalia also the “big bads” are actually interesting and the overlooking plot of Sora and Ikki, the sky kings of old and new comes full circle in an unbelievable climax! definitely a must read

@@Red.Decimo I really think if the series finished well it should be a lesson to the industry, since Hoshino has done so much more than in my opinion her or most mangaka can physically achieve with weekly releases or without cutting chapter size for health reasons.
I also think everyone should bear in mind that chapter length can grow, but it'd probably be more because she found methods of drawing all the panels which made things much faster(without compromising the art). I'm hoping the recent 38 page chapter is related to that video of panels being created using 3d modelling on unreal engine.
Anyway a 15 page chapter from Hoshino over these years has never felt the same as one from anyone else, the character design background scenery and so on is just too good.

(core) so we got into d.gray-man in 2011, we read the manga first alongside pandora hearts which is another fantastic series with similar themes to dgm which also failed to get a full anime release with vanitas getting an adaptation before the original got continued
I think doing it so rigidly without spoilers took away from your points! Lines about what exorcists are from Kanda and Allen that late are not really disagreements in philosophy, it's more like Kanda is butting heads with him for ages because Allen is that sort of cliche self sacrificial type with no experience of the order at the start and to Kanda that just looks naive. As for Allen's character.. It's so jarring seeing his fake smiles not as part of an argument about how his ideals change and all the identity crises lol. "A bit of sadness" is the understatement of the century 😭😭😭 (seriously, think about his upbringing damn it!)
I'd like to say one thing about tropes in the series. Allen is a deconstruction of the self sacrificial hero type who wants to save everyone. He's a deconstruction because you see how he ticks, his background explains why he believes in it and you see him realistically struggle with those ideals under pressure in a more realistic holy war. Also because I heard Hoshino said she doesn't like that sort of character and after all, whereas in many manga a hero can destroy themself to save others and win without having their ideals questioned, Allen's ideals literally put him in danger.
I've gotta check this out, a decade ago right before anime went mainstream (not hatin, just observing) I watched sooo many of the greats that began in the 90s and 2000s but I never got to this one, and if you're such a big Reborn fan then I trust your tastes as if you were family

The Dark Aesthetics was for me and the character devolpmemt. I watched D.Gray Man and I love it. One of the most memorable moments in D.Gray Man were Allen and Lenalee after a mission the Miranda Lotto one. Lenalee called Allen out on his Self Sacrafice and saying that he can rely on his friends. Allen pulls up to save Lenalee, saying, "Konbanwa Hakushaku!"And many others as well. I hope D.Gray Man can become weekly as Hoshino-Chans Health Improves So I can read Peak Gray Man see the series end and get one more anime adaptation.

D. Gray man is one of the serie that made an impact.
Allen is propably my favorite MC. I was getting annoyed by most MC who only shouted their goals and were only optimistic but Allen is way different than the others with his optimistic because it's more of a coping mechanism.
Other main characters are also fine (except Lavi but that's just my personal think). Lena lee is in my case the best female character in shounen because her streak is crazy, I didn't like Kanda at first but due to 2nd exorcist arc I started appreaciating him more. Krory is maybe my favorite out of them because I like how he's and exorcist who falled in love with Akuma. (I'm not a fan of romance in shounen but this was well done)
Main Antagonist in form of Millenium earl is fantastic and I like how his backstory is revealed to us and especially who he really is to Allen. Other Noahs are also great especially Tikky Mikk and Road who created a bond with Allen and are quite different from other Noahs especially Tikky who kept his sense of humanity unlike the others. Apochrifos is someone in the gray area. A person I don't have really a oppinion.
It's a shame what happend to the anime.
D gray man is one of the best animes and did so much other animes could only dream of.

I love D.gray-man but I do have issues with the anime, particularly the episode My teacher cross, as it changes the character of villainizes Cross. Not all of the anime fillers based on light novels. The Lulu bell ark isn't and creates a plot hole. I think it's important to keep in mind that it's still filler and not Canon regardless of if it was in the light novel or not. More of a caveat than a reason to not watch the anime which is still wonderful 😊
I did want to mention my favorite part of the series and that's honestly the villains, particularly the Earl road and tyki. They're so unique and interesting. Tyki in particular, I find endlessly fascinating as a character

This is a series I remember reading when I was in my junior year of high school back in 2007. I think I must've stopped reading it at some point when it went on hiatus due to the author being ill. Over the years, I'd pick up on it and catch up here and there but I eventually dropped it again. It's a great series with charming characters, interesting story, and of course, great art but to be quite honest, I honestly cannot be bothered to *actively* keep up with it nowadays. Its release schedule is much too infrequent for me. For some time, it occupied the same sort of headspace as Berserk in that I had my doubts the manga would ever be finished simply due to its release schedule. That said, I WOULD like to get back to it at some point, though it is likely I'd have to re-read beginning to end (which I wouldn't mind at all as I could use the refresher).

He's been through.. let be honest. SHIT. He's been through hell and back. He doesn't get his powers just because the plot needs him to. He works hard for it and he literally lost his arm and got his eye poked by rhode. Like its CRAZY and tbh go king
He's been rejected by society time and time again and he's working so hard to fit into the black order and make it his home only for him to be hunted down by the people he once considered his family

And started reading the manga
Now I 220 chapters in
I love D.gray-man. I'm not entirely sure why I love it so to be honest. Is it the great characters? The dark vibe? The great music of the anime?
Regardless, it's the first anime I watched when I officially started watching anime (I mean consciously watch anime, other than just watching pokemon, yugioh etc. on tv). I remember falling in love with it right from the very start. I especially got moved and hooked by the Ghost of Matter arc. I don't usually rewatch shows, but d.gray-man is one I've rewatched twice. Once with my older brother, when I got him into anime.
When D.gray-man hallow came out, I remember I was ecstatic. I was kinda disappointed by it in the end though, resulting in me not even remembering much about it. The colors seemed off, they had some other VAs, and I was a bit confused by the story, probably because it had been a while since I last watched the original. I mean, the art was good, it just wasn't like the D.gray-man I remembered. I would like to read the manga, but have never done so yet. Mainly because I prefer reading it physically and I can't really afford to buy all these volumes...
I remember wanting to cosplay Allen Walker back then, even though I'd never even heard of cosplaying back then. I was about 15 at the time. Now, I'm almost 30, but I still haven't cosplayed Allen (or cosplayed at all for that matter). I'd like to do it, but seems pretty hard/costly. Not to mention I have a big beard that I don't want to shave and is one big reason I haven't cosplayed 😅 Anyways, I digress. Woah, this comment turned out way longer than I thought. It got a bit out of hand.

@@Red.Decimo gonna say regardless of people enjoying the anime, the manga would be much better if you feel it's slow. Since they waited for Hoshino to publish more chapters for a significant amount of time in earlier seasons, there's tonnes of side content used for the plot of episodes like 30-almost 50? Idk. In the manga it quickly goes from Krory joining them to the Suman Dark arc.
