I am senior citizen and post retirement looking for learning Sanskrit to read the original slokas and I feel blessed that I could visit this site to pursue my desire further thanks to the professors and IIT Kharagpur for uploading such a wonderful resource. Thank you very much and god bless all
Recently, I have been reading the magnificent Indian Literature and had the craving to read it in the original language. I searched and found about the Prof Anuradha's lecture. Indeed blessed to have these lectures. Thank You, Professor, for sharing the knowledge like an artist.
Nothing short of excellent. I have heard before that Sanskrit is excellent. But this is excellent in all levels. Even in arrangement of sound itself. Thank you very much for this lecture.
It was a my childhood dream for learning to speak in Samskrutam and thank God finally I found a place to learn spoken it. Lot of thanks to IIT Kharagpur for uploading it in UA-cam.
gotta say: top presentation. I've studied sanskrit for awhile and lately saying hare KRSNA mantra, but mostly i hear people saying "---shna" as "---श्न" and that facilitates very rapid recitation...but thanks to this CLEAR and ACCURATE demonstration, i've been able to confirm the proper pronounciation of the sibilant ष and the ण
It was my dream to learn Sanskrit since childhood and I just can't express what a gem of a language it is, I can just imagine what all I've been missing in my life until I started learning Sanskrit! Thanks mam 🙏🏻

Just by learning Sanskrit, wholeheartedly, a "modern, english speaking" person can start talking like a saint.. I bow to thee Panini 🙏.. I am in love with Sanskrit now.. And thanks to you mam 🙏.. and our current govt. that stresses on making Indians realize the greatness our own roots.
She should be teaching in our schools to small children to make them grasp the "science of sound", i.e. Sanskrit! And appreciate our advanced culture since the beginning itself..
Wonderful and very useful video produced by IIT Karagpur! I never knew IIT Kharagpur has a dedicated department for langauge studies! Knowing about a language which wakeup spirituality in one's consciousness is something very exciting , thrilling and amply rewarding experience ! Wonderful lecture by Prof.Anuradha choudry! Her research about various words and syllables of sanskrit are indeed laudable! My pranams to her. Greatful thanks to all who produced and uploaded this very interesting video !
Thanks you so much for this. Today I have produced some sounds from my vocal system which I would never have produced in my life time without watching this video! 🙏
Fantastic! Prof has complete command. How fortunate to find this. The linkages of sounds & letters to spiritual aspects, makes the study of Sanskrit truly worthwhile than studying a language for materialistic pleasures alone Prof made me appreciate that subtle aspect
What a wonderful lesson, thank you. I started learning Sanskrit at school nearly 70 years ago, but the lady teacher was horrible and I didn´t learn much. The lady teacher here is delightful and I, at age 77, will now learn Sanskrit with pleasure.
Please request to hrd ministry to make sanskrit comulsory for students till 12th. This us the only way we can get our culuture ethics back. Otherwise the dame britishers had done is enormous and we will not be united bharat
Thankyou so much ma'am for such detailed explanation. My mind is just blown away by all the minute details. So much science into the phonetics. धन्योस्मि।
A great language explained v v well by a very good teacher. An experience of a lifetime-but would need 7 lifetimes to even read all these good things !!! Dhanyosmi
As they say to learn anything go to its root. I was working on Hindi writing and of course in the process learned the Sanskrit Devanagari. Never remember or may be I had slept through hindi and sanskrit classes from 1 to 10th grade. Anyways! Thank you, for such beautifully showing the mechanism of sounds.
19:51 - Pronounciation of व. It makes a 'v' or a dental-labial sound (teeth against lips), except when combined in words like 'svara' where it makes a 'w' sound (semivowel-like sound where neither lips nor lips make contact with one another).
well as i have opted for this course, i would like to point at one thing, Prof Anuradha has not been differentiating between the sounds that should be produced while saying ण and न.....they sound the same while they shouldn't be like that....👏🙌 again, listen to Mr. Amitabh Bachchan talking about the importance of right pronunciation in this video👇👇👇 ua-cam.com/video/ZZuWSkuqjPA/v-deo.html परंतु ऐसे सभी विषयों पर ध्यान न देते हुए मैं आई.आई.टी. खड़गपुर का हृदय से आभारी हूँ कि उन्होंने संस्कृत की यह कार्यप्रणाली शुरु कर संस्कृत के उत्थान का शंखनाद किया है।👏🙌👏🙌👏🙌
Notes: Logic for consonants: 1. touch, sound 2. touch, sound, breath 3. sound, touch 4. sound, touch, breath 5. nasal These are the easiest sounds we can produce as it doesn't require much flexibility of the tongue. Children can easily produce these consonant sounds of Sanskrit. Order of alphabets is in the order the sound comes out of the human system. From 1 to 5. Sanskrit as a brain massage package.
Are there any text book? Which would make me revise after listening to the video recording? Many thanks for investing your time in developing this video tutorials.

Fully agree that other languages do not utilise breath as much as Sanskrit. I never realised this...this is great for blood circulation in our body.
