QPAS (and Mimeophon) are the keystones in my MN setup. Their playability with great sound and unique features puts them in my overall top 10. It disturbs me to see so many on the second hand market because I wonder how far people have looked into them before deciding to sell them. Can't live without them.

The old patch with the DPO, ModDemix and QPAS sounds more like a pitched gong. However, the modulation feedback in the new patch adds a lot of liveliness to the sound!
@@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC probably a happy accident when someone plugged two oscillators into a ring mod and a filter and discovered: That sounds like a gong 😅 I find it very inspiring when you show your patches and also explain how you came up with the idea. Making Noise is synonymous to exploring sounds.
I always wanted to figure out how to recreate a sound from Tomita's "Snowflakes are Dancing" where he had these tails that ascended in pitch that layered over each other. I would love to see your take on that! Thanks!

In terms of whether or not it matters if it sounds like a gong, I think it depends on the perspective. When creating a patch, I try not to think of defining sounds by their similarities to acoustic ones. However, I think it's important to note that most listeners (especially those outside of the world of bleeps and bloops) probably make these associations, at least on a subconscious level. Further, there might be certain expectations created by the presence of a particular timbre, and the decision of whether and how much to confirm or subvert those expectations can open up lots of fun creative pathways. I'd love to see more videos dealing with patch experiences and philosophies. Excellent video, as always!

Tomita whistle patch: please! Any other of his timbres/patches would be great to see as well. FYI I've gotten something resembling the "weird clock chimes" sounds he had on his version of "The Sunken Cathedral" with a QPAS, Maths, and Teleharmonic.

I believe the Debussy record has the whistle fairly prominently featured, even including the audible process of it being constructed from a noise source and filters :)
