Treatment of Brian Kerr by the FAI and the media was diabolical when you compare his results v Kenny's results and unbelievable patience from all sources
TBH, the manager of New Ross FC would have got us 2 wins against Gibraltar. Why did we even need S.K. When you have a retired player player playing in the old fourth "div" called up to make up your numbers, you know you are in deep shit.
I think it was the games against Greece that lost Kenny the job. The level of performance against Greece didnt match the level of the performance against France. The same issue occurred nearly 20 years ago when ireland got stuck into France, in their faces for the whole game yet against Swtizerland and Isreal they went over cautious, almost like they didnt know who they were playing. Same old problems but with different managers, though Brian should at least acknowledge he had the superior players to what we have now.
The media doesn’t help the current situation of all Irish football matters.

Fair assessment from Brian Kerr. A few spells of brilliant play during Kenny's reign and he really had us believing at times...you need to be a Lucky manager also and he was anything but with this team...players let him down a few times as well late on in games...best of luck to him and looking forward to the next chapter
I’m sorry but that’s delusional. I wanted to give him a chance and for him to do well but there comes a point when reality has to kick in. Really he couldn’t have done any worse and luck had nothing to do with it. He was just way way out of his depth.

Kerr does have a bit of a gripe historically with the FAI in fairness. But has any of the stuff he said about this Kenny Ireland team being way off the mark? If anything Kerr could be sticking the boot in a lot more.

Brian Kerr was just as hopeless as Irish manager as Kenny...had a much better squad with the core of them playing in the Champions League. His naivety in the Israel games exposed how poor he was.
Thats not the point though. Its about Kenny having a go at other managers. The sonner Kenny is out the door the better. Wished him well at the start but is now an embarrasment

I don't blame Stephen, I'd be hammering some of the chancers before him who had ten times better squads. This is the worst group of Irish players of all time and he's had pelters since day 1, he should defend himself.

Kenny has done a lousy job. Kerr did a worse job.
Kerr has the best win rate of any permanent Irish manager. As he said himself he only lost two competitive games. Both were only by one goal margin.
Stephen Kenny is not a great manager I agree but what can he do at the end of the day Ireland don't have the players to compete that's the bottom line the majority of the players are lower league standard, there not good enough the manager can only do what he is giving to work with and he's working with poor players

He was giving a mandate after getting the job to try and play possession based football because people were sick of the defensive football under previous managers,

@@ggmm6182 the remit of the senior manager is to qualify , win games and bring the team on . Doing that will generate money for the FAI too . He failed in every respect .
Thank god we can now look forward to hope . The Irish team were always competitive and hard to beat in qualifying bar the odd Denmark , Germany home matches which I won’t forget . Micks last game was 1-1 v Denmark and we battered them at times and unlucky not to qualify directly .

Martin o Neil's last game Ireland was destroyed by Denmark so the writing was on the wall for a while now a shocking group of players majority of them are lower league standard,
Kenny couldn't do anything with them and you will see no manager can

Israel may have drawn with France but we sat back in the 2 games instead of going for the jugular which cost us twice, one win would have qualified us, and Israel deserved the draw in the 2 games

The only success kerr had was with a am pats side in the 80s/90s and kids ifootball . The level of narcissistic deludedness by Kerr is unreal

In fairness, Kerr's record was far better than Kenny's. In his only full campaign, the only game lost was by a single goals at home against France. We drew away against them.
The draws with Israel were what cost us, but that Israel team also drew home and away with France and Switzerland. We were very competitive and I thought he deserved another campaign. We all know what followed.
