- An EPIC 200 Year Old Carnatic Song - Entharo Mahanubhavulu! Happy Birthday @guitarprasanna5975 ! Today is my teacher's birthday and as a special tribute to him, I am playing this legendary song which is considered as one of the gems of Indian Classical Carnatic Music. This is usually a 15 minutes song, but I decided to increase the speed to a more insane level which makes it even more harder than what it already is! The song just builds up more and more, and it is one of the most challenging songs I have ever played. Just remembering the full song due to its sheer length is challenging enough, but this song adds so many variations each time some verses are played that makes it very difficult to remember and play it perfectly. I never get to see myself play the song while practicing, but when I saw this video I was very surprised to see the speed of the slides and I am very happy I was able to still hit the notes perfectly.
The meaning of this song is saluting all the great saints and eminent peple who have lived before us and I felt this is a perfect song for me to play as a salute to my guru. I feel very blessed that I am living among the legends right now and I am even more lucky to have legends guiding me and also having one as my teacher. That's a blessing!

Wow! To play this kriti (composition), considered one of composer Sri Thyagaraja’s famous Five Gems, so perfectly, without missing a note and without looking at the notes, at her age of nine years, I can only imagine the intensity of her practice. It took me a month to learn this composition and several months to perfect it; she is just a young girl, a child, really, with an infectious smile. She wouldn’t have played like this without blessings pouring down from the heavens, perhaps even from Shree Thyagaraja himself. First came guitarist Shree Prasanna, and now we have Miss Maya Neelakantan. I am lost for words to describe her playing this instrument as if it were Veena, using Carnatic gamakas. I am deeply touched. This has stirred me at the very depth of my soul. Thank you, Maya, for uploading this video.

I honestly do not know a thing about this style of music. The background I have heard on a couple occasions but the way you play is quite unique to me. It appears that you know what you are doing. I do see differences in chord play and how you coordinate the picking. I love to listen to music I am unfamiliar with. It is kind of a musical journey for me and I get the opportunity to see many artistic expressions from around the world. I sincerely thank you for great priviledge of listening to your wonderful expression. I love you and Jesus Christ loves you from before our days. Life is about love for without love there is no life. Its carnatic music and what she is playing is a song penned by a saint composer tyagaraja, the song( endaro mahaanubhaavulu) is an ode to all the greatest luminaries could be have gracing the occasion or those the gurus that might be showering blessing on this saint composer from 17th century.
