I was obsessed with this PIF in the 70's as kid, loved the music and the parents always reminded me of my own Ha ha.

Fantastic to see this again. I remember it from probably the 1973-5 period. So many of those public information films at that time.

What memories. "How would they explain that to my nan!" has become a catchphrase in our family. This used to be shown virtually every Saturday morning after children's TV and before the afternoon sports programmes began.

I always thought that subway looked lethal. There are no barriers preventing anyone from walking over the edge and falling down.

Excellent, brings back a few memories, the new car "vauxhall viva hb 1968/69" ..both finished up as mince meat, and you tell me how they would've explained that to our nan. Im sure was made in 1969 too. I was 9 at the time.

Yes, it's brilliant in its own way, but the message (that children watch what adults do when crossing roads and learn bad habits) is quite subtle really, and perhaps somewhat lost as the child narrator here stands no chance of being led astray.

The British "public advertising films" are much better than what we had to endure here in the USA during the 60's!! The little boy's voice is adorable. :-) Maybe I would have stayed awake for these! LOL!

Adults usually think they are above the rules and laws because they believe they are mature. If anything, the kid and Nan are more responsible then the parents.
