    for those that wants to know what's my take on data privacy. This is what i shared in one of the comments below. If you visit my linkedIn profile, I came from a IT background and currently working at one of the biggest cloud companies, but I'm not from the security sector.
    Data privacy leads to network security, how well are these companies protecting their network and your data.
    For an enterprise, this can only be measured by what certifications they have obtained like SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO27001, GDPR compliance. I don't think we want to drill down which of these companies have what certifications.
    Then on the topic of local vs cloud setup. An enterprise network will have not one but multi tiers of firewall protection, authentication controls, data encryption at rest and at transit. Do you think you are able to secure your network better than say Google? Then if we talk about physical security, do you think it's easier breaking into a house stealing the harddisk or microSD card on your camera, vs breaking into Google's datacenter and tapping into their storage system?
    It all boils down to TRUST, which company do you trust to protect their customer's data. This is my school of thoughts when it comes to home security, of course I'm sure many people don't think the same way, so no point for me to talk about this topic

    Currently using a bunch of Eufy SoloCams with built-in local storage... and the reason I avoided their HomeBase 3 is that if there's a power outage, not only your wifi will be down, but your cameras will also have downtime... I ran my SoloCams independent of HB3 so that when power goes out, my cams will still record on battery and store on local storage... I'd wish Eufy would program their HB3 and SoloCams so that in the event of a power failure, the cams will revert temporarily to local storage option instead...

    I using Tapo as it has Onvif. Using it connecting to my Shinobi NVR hosted on my home server for recording, and also with it's Onvif, it's easy to integrate with Home Assistant. It's tricky to set static IP for Tapo though, it somehow do not follow a standard method of IP address assignment.

    • @AlexTeo
      @AlexTeo  Місяць тому

      Thanks for sharing! Such solution approach can just use any camera that supports onvif, makes me curious how do these companies actually price their products

    • @hengguowei
      @hengguowei 29 днів тому +1

      @@AlexTeo I have been using Tapo & TP-Link's other product line called Vigi cameras. You're right on choosing cameras supporting Onvif. This allows more compatibility with all sorts of NVR hardware or softwares. As for setting static IP for Tapo products, you can assign IP in your DHCP Server (normally Router) to each of the cameras according to the MAC address of each camera.

    Green line game is strong 😂
    Using tapo tc85 just for my corridor. No need too many cameras to watch at a go so not much issues.
    Notifications can be quite annoying though but learnt to live with it.
    Gotten it from sales hence decided to get it as it offers the best value for performance range at least from what ive compared.
    You definitely need to get the cloud for tc85 since its magnet based fixture else people can pluck and run, and theres nothing you can do about it 😂

    Disappointed that privacy isn’t covered in the comparison, this is something Alex never talks about and seems to be a crucial missing element of these reviews.
