In France snow never melts because it is already at Northern latitudes. Earth is naturally very cold there. But India is more nearer to equator so on average it is warmer. Here it is permanently cold only due to high altitude...otherwise there won't be any snowfall
I agree with you on Subcontinental weather and conditions however statement about permanent snow in France isn't correct. Firstly it does gets hot in most parts of France during summer times and usually Temps touch 35°c easily, on the other hand in winters arctic vertex grip entire European countries due to which wind Temps usually are below 5°c in sunny days. Interestingly though it does not snow in entire France even during winters but in the northern parts and specially Alps and Pyrenees mountain range.
Ladakh and Tibet are deserts, as as the hot air / winds flow towards the Northeast, it/they have to flow over mountains, thus the air cools as it goes over higher elevations, and has to dump its moisture. Cold air does not contain as much moisture as hot air. By the time the air makes it to Ladakh and Tibet, it is pretty dry, as it has already dumped most of its moisture in the mountains on the way to Ladakh and Tibet. Thus the lack of snow.
If there is no himalaya then there would be snowfall over most of the india. Himalaya protect us from most of cold siberian winds. Otherwise except coastal areas, most of the india would have looked like central Asia. And there would have been no mansoon climate and less rainfall due to lack of barrier.
I meet french guy from nice who came to promote (sell) fertilizers in Himachal. He was so thrilled to see snow capped mountains.......he said France have no such views. Also said people there have no idea that these things are in india

Hey Pierre! Glad you're doing fine. The reason behind snow in Europe on lower altitudes is because of our extreme latitudes, that even if its 3000m, we can witness same weather like 4000m in lower latitudes. Latitude and altitude works concordant.
@@alani3992 Kilimanjaro stands at 5,895m, which equals to 19k feet, get your facts checked mate. And the topic is about prolonged snowline in even lower altitudes of Europe when comparing to higher altitudes of any Southern countries, it's because of higher latitude, no one is talking about topography of the place, it's more about geography.
@@alani3992 you didn't get the point mate. My conversation is revolving around the statement Pierre made about how mountain ranges in Europe retain snow for a longer period even being at lower altitudes than Himalyas. We are not talking about just settled snow here, but their prolonged nature in certain regions of the world, ofcourse we can see extreme sun there and it's a dry desert, but don't you see the snow in front when he is riding the bike towards pass? It's because of higher altitude breaching through the troposphere and being on the leeward side of the sun. Kilimanjaro even being near to the equator breaches the troposphere line, where temperature is extremely freezing, helping it to accumulate snow even when it should not. Now, that wasn't even the topic of concern, it was all about why northern region retains snow for longer period or whole year even if it has lesser altitude,i hope you get more clarity now, I never talked about Ladakh. The phenomenon you're talking about is regional for Ladakh, latitudes and altitudes are global.
Please explore wild life too. India is home to 2,967 tigers (approx). If possible visit any tiger reserve. I would recommend corbett or Kaziranga. Also, you can find one horn rhinoceros in Assam

Editing and uploading in ladakh can be a bit tricky with patchy network so it's great to see you being able to manage that. I hope to see your channel grow to something of the likes of itchy boots. Shivam, thanks a lot for saying bud! That's the aim yep. I want to finish the trip with the scrambler though, all the way back to France since Sri Lanka is on pause for now... Really appreciate the support man, editing is tough and happy to hear you spot some improvements 😎❤️
Lower the latitude (towards equator), higher is the snow line altitude. Actually the solar insolation is highest at the tropic of Cancer/Capricorn and not at the equator due to earth's tilt. To the west/south-west of Ladakh(trans-himalaya) you have the greater Himalayas which blocks snow/rain clouds. That's why Ladakh, spiti and Tibet are dry because they are beyond the greater Himalayas. If I am not wrong Ladakh gets most of the precipitation in winter in the form of snow due to the western disturbance which brings in moisture from the Mediterranean, black and Caspian seas. Interestingly, Ladakh has 2 mountain ranges, Himalayas and Karakoram. Karakoram is in the northern part of Ladakh.
How many years of riding experience Saliha has? I was shocked when she rode Ducati in downtown India with you on the back seat to Punjabi breakfast place! She is so tiny and that bike probably weighs five times her weight. Unbelievable skills!
Well frenchie if you had visited in April you would have seen 10ft high snow wall. At almost every pass. In winters these pass are closed . Ice make a layer above road.
Ladakh is a cold desert so it gets very less rainfall so there's not much snow there, but in kashmir you can find snow at lower altitudes also. And 18:57 you should say- mai France se bike chalake aya hu.
As you are in trans Himalayas i.e. beyond Himalayas, all the air moisture carried by monsoon winds is actually blocked by Himalayas thus trans Himalaya is actually dry region.
6:30 you should then try babusar top from chillas You have to climb 3000m in 30 kilometres almost to reach babusar top which is at the elevation of 4200m
Well, the rains will be a big trouble once you'll get back to the lower Himalayas! Up in Ladakh, everything is dry and clear. Actually, most of the clouds precipitates near lower green mountains keeping Ladakh dry and rocky.
