I just did this mission and I lost my entire army, I have no idea how you're supposed to keep anyone alive for that last 5 minutes.
You forgot about the ghost army ?
It's easier when you group the rangers in numbers. Two combined shoot down a troll very fast.
If you have 3 or 4 Citadel Guards on level 10, the rangers are better defended when the Nazguls attack.
I used cloak on hobbits and won even if i lost whole army and camps XD

bfme 1 campaign is eassiely the best campaign, when it comes to game play I prefer bfme2 most of the time but I think a game with the building system of bfme 1 with as many factions as bfme 2 rotwk would be the best

Lol. I used to fight at starting position. Didn't even consider falling back.
Fighting at starting position was possible in the earilier versions tho.
What i really would like to see is that archers automatically switch their target when a troll/mumakil is in his deathrage. It always bothered me. 🙄
Really love these updates though, probably gonna play it soon again hehe.

Nice. I think to make it more interesting is having the orcs try to surround your forces. That what i did when i played mordor. Get a battalion to attack from front and then move the others to Attack from back. Ect so the forces are surrounded. And adding fog of war so you dont know where they will come from would be good sneak attack from the back for example. And adding more evil men to haradrim footmen deadly to cav (work like pikemen) if trampled. and deadly to gondor footmen. Having orcs as basically meat shields for them. Really like nazgul death animation thanks for all the hard work !
I remember playing the OG bfme as a kid and didn’t know Rohan had infantry & I only built archers and rohirrim. Never realized the farms trained farmers for war hahahaha!

The fact that he has all heroes and units on level 10 already tells me this has to be hard.
Please keep working on the evil campaign if it isn't completed yet, I loved seeing this mission brought back to life!
Evil campaign was completed more than a year ago
I've been playing bfme since it came out. Playing the HD version currently. Wireless keyboard and mouse, on a very large LG 4kTV. It's beautiful.
I like bfme 1 more than the others because it's very straightforward. You know what your objectives are and you can lose every game if you aren't paying attention!

The good old Ranger spam. Still true in 2022.
There were enough offensive operations from the good side in the movies like the ambushes against the uruk hai or the haradrim and their mumakil, the attack on isengard or the charge at helms deep (which can be concidered part of defense) but fact is there isn't much in the books to fill that battle and the third movie already had it's climactic battle at minas tirith. Another large battle in front of the black gate would have been too much and as I said, there wan't really much in the books about that. Also even that battle was more of a defensive one. It wasn't an attack, it was a "We're here, come get your shiny bling, Sauron!"-thing were the forces of good occupied an area in front of the gate and waited for the hordes to come.
imagine Boromir would have survived in the movies
why the AI does not use darkness more often? in original campaign I guess it usess 2-3 times. that would make the game more challenging imo
What about the Ithilien-Ambush, where Frodo and Sam get captured by Faramir, that was an offensive by the good guys too ;)
1:23 Is it just me, or did Gandalf's Word of Power ability recover half of its cooldown timer instantly? If my estimate is correct, the ability fully recharges every 4 minutes, so with a clean mix of Word of Power, Arrow Wind, and Oathbreaker, you should be able to sustain without too much trouble... provided you don't go and get your heroes trampled by Mumakil. (oh! unless intentionally killing your Gandalf and buying him again recharges his ability faster? that would be kinda mission-breaking)
Also, can you verify for me: in this rework, if you lose just one of the two camps, what happens? Is it a mission-fail trigger? Do all the units from that camp's faction die instantly? Do you lose the ability to repurchase the camp? Is it just a setback on resource and unit production?
Depending on the severity of the consequences, I'd probably play around one camp and let the other camp fall, doing my best to keep my heroes from that faction alive so I don't lose them permanently, rather than risk losing everything by splitting my forces up in defense of a base that doesn't matter.
If you manage to devise a way to make it more beneficial to stand your army in the middle of the map instead of having to turtle up at a camp with two Wells, that's what I think this particular campaign mission needs.
small side note, 3:27 and 3:38 When the Nazgul fell from the sky, its corpse did crash into the ground and kill some of the archers. At one point in the video, you mentioned that it doesn't have that behavior, so I felt you would want to know about that.
Halfing the cooldown of any of Gandalf's abilities is part of the 'Gandalf the White' ability.
It will be more easy to play even at hard if you keep all you force inside the camp and build heroic structure+ well.
And make them stand there...
And let the forces come to you and use gandlaf power for orcs army and arogon powers for troll and mumakills.
More easy yes but hella boring and 0 fun too

Hello in the one of the maps ,dont remember which one gandalf and eomer should fight army of isenguard that arives after some time, please make this map epic and hard and the army huge so it should be more of a chalenge and fun ! And add more armies all acros the map ,its war after all.Most of us want open field epic fights. And thank you for all your work !

Why is cloudbreak disabled on all major missions? What is the point of the power then? Statues disabled? Just disable everything, haha. Also, as far as I could tell, the mission is completable only with the rangers and ranged cavalry. I think this hinders the player's creativity but I don't know how to make other units valuable.
What I hear more and more is "this and this your powers are disabled, this and that thing has longer coldown". Nerfing the player is just an artificial difficulty which I think is pretty annoying, like the game punishes you for your progress.
I agree. I think the very first things that should have been factions, because right now only Isengard and Rohan can play like they are supposed too. Gondor mainly uses cav in multiplayer and archers in campaign, and Mordor is only playable thanks to immense troll spam and witch king, everything else is terrible for them.

Some spells or special powers are just cheats like wop or aod that's why they have longer cooldown/are disabled.
@@Dimek Firstly, is Elven Wood a cheat? Is Cloudbreak overpowered? If so - by how much? No, seriously, statues, Elven Wood and Cloudbreak are cheats? Come on now.
Secondly, this is campaign, not multiplayer. Singleplayer experience is meant to be fun. What kind of fun is this when half of what you struggled to unlock is disabled? Just imagine an RPG where your stats are permantently reduced in boss fights. Fun? I don't think so. Since it's singleplayer, just let people have those powers, why not? It's not like they will ruin someone else's experience with it, like it might have been in the multiplayer. All the handholding and artificial difficulty will just turn this into another Total War Warhammer 3. We all know what happened to that game, right? This leads to my third point.
Thirdly, leave the choice with the player. In a true singleplayer game, the player has the options to cheat or not to cheat. And that if you consider building statues and placing very overpowered Elven Woods a cheat. Anyway, people who don't want to cheat would just opt to not use the AOD. People who want to "cheat" should have the option to have all the tools they managed to gather so far. Freedom for the player is component of the game being fun. Seeing these two missions, I would not call this campaign fun.
I had to cheese it by camping one of the permanent eagles on top of the mountain, out of range, and wait the last 3 minutes

So the assault of 6000 Rohirrim riders on the Mordor army at pelenorfields is not considered an offensive move?
Disabling AoD for this mission would be a fail in my eyes. Sure, they weren't at the black gate in the movie or the books. But so weren't Mumakil.

For some reason the BFME download isnt working for me and I get an error message. This new mission looks great though.

Download the game from other site. Or in the laucher select the 1.03 patch. That one is as vanilla as you can get.
@@hugocastilla3102 I am managing the Hard Good campaign so far, Hard Evil next. I would like to speedrun the original one after that. You said 1.03 is vanialla, launcher also has 1.06 patch before before a list of 2.22 versions, whats up with that one?
