Speed & Chrome Illustrated awesome I’m in Canada so I’m a little far away not that far but a ways any way I will sub you and goood luck it’s going to be awesome
I was a Y-block guy many many decades ago - ran a couple of freak 312's that would run with the 283's in full body cars on the street (three speed Hurst of course). But I have never seen anybody successfully campaign a Y block. Good luck to you - I am looking forward to this.
It's all for fun man. Eagle Field is a heads up flag drop race and it's only an 8th mile. I'm looking forward to it running and driving and racing some day.
I had a really radical 312 in my 56 ford 2 door Victoria in high school back in the 70s. My uncle who was a drag racer built the motor and I helped as I learned. Super quick and would hold its own in the area where I grew up. Gosh the memories! Really neat ride to build man. Not many out there. Way cool. Good luck and God Bless.
Bruce McIntosh , I was a Y-block guy (kid) too, we were rare. I am 75 now. My best build was a 54 Ford 2dr post Mainline. Built the baddest 312 I could for the time 1963/64. I had reworked heads and a good thumper of a cam, a large Holly and Mallory ignition, dump tubes. I worked for my dad who owned a auto repair business so I had access to a lot knowledge and connections for help. It was light and quick with a T-10 4 speed with 4:11 gears. My biggest thrill back then was handing some of those 62/63 SS 327's their ass Fri and Saturday nights in Tacoma WA...fun times I can't wait to see this 56 do its thing it will be a screamer I'm sure !
I’m 63. Gassers are amazing to me. I own a ‘63 Chevy II Altered Wheelbase Gasser. Rear moved 12”, front straight axle 6” forward. It is an absolute riot! All gearheads need one! Awesome car you are building!
Love the attention to detail the chassis builder is giving this project. Super Cool build Thanks for sharing . Posted all over the joint. Let's all get this cranked up 2,500 views this weekend. JT Florida Dragstrip Riot
Luv the gasser style I have a 68 ford wagon with a 390 I want to build into a gasser after we finish up my pro street style 86 plymouth turismo. Keep up the good work I will be following this
Love that body style always been a fan of that year , my pop has a 50 Ford . I'm building a 66 Nova for the street was thinking of making it a Gasser in the beginning but never realize the work that goes into it loving your build learning a lot 👍👍👍 😈☠👍✌✌
Hey George, your car is probably the easiest car to turn into a gasser with a straight axle. Its literally a bolt on deal. No cutting or welding. Have you seen the '66 Nova that Speedway Motors built? They have videos of what they did step by step. Speedway sells all the parts to do it. A thousand times easier than this old Ford.
@@SpeedandChromeTV I will check into it and I appreciate you for making the time to let me know my friend , and again good luck with your build can't wait to see it when she's done 👍👍✌
Looks like you have Estrada as your artist, sorry if I didn't spell his name right but he is on one of the Corvette sites I'm on and his art is on point!
Gassers are cool I like mopar gassers like a 67 gtx style more street freak looking need a ladder to get in it lol but we are all different that motor sounds good I also like the max wedge cars 62;to65 strait axel and I like them altered but big buck cars to buy god job you did alright getting donations love your drawing I’m a tattoo artist so I love any thing like that hot rod stuff good for you it looks awesome it’s good to have friends wen you are building something like this love the swis cheese holes they look awesome that’s a beautiful axel love the cross member with all the holes looks awesome so far
The '56 is the best looking 50s Ford cars IMO. Wonderful lines on those cars. I would go to a good tire shop and have them measure the biggest wheel and tire you get get on there. If you want bigger you can move the leaf springs in board with a kit. The Chevy guys have been doing that for a long time. If you want bigger then you can find a narrower differential to swap in, maybe out of a Bronco. They aren't cheap but it gets it done. I would start with figuring out the best backspacing on one wheels to tuck it up in there, a good tire shop can help with that. Hope that helps.
The dreaded oil pan....I had a 1957 meteor attempted to drop in chevy 383 stroker...got it all the way in running...went to pull out of my shop...and couldn't turn....had to pull it all out again.
@@automotiveaddiction428 Well, I kept a Ford and still had to clearance the pan. Thankfully the Yblock pans are almost flat already in that spot. While the images look dramatic, very little was actually taken out of the pan.
It perplexes me, that you are not going to use the Best Rearend out there, the FORD 9", you can get any gear combinations and they are used everywhere. I thought You wanted it to last.
A 9" would have been great, but thats not what I had at the time. The 8 3/4" Mopar is a very strong rear and this car won't break it with the Yblock I'll be running. I'll be lucky it its 400 hp at the engine. It will be fine for what I"m using it for. Later on if I end up putting in a much larger, higher HP engine, putting in a 9" would be the right choice. This is a budget build, just using what I already have around.
I've put those Dodge 8 and 3/4 rear ends. They hold 600 h.p pretty good. I had 36,000miles on my 72 Challenger before it have me any notions of trouble.
Man, I wish I had the skillset to build a race car like this. Thankfully I have friends, family and Sponsors who have come along to help me out. I'd much rather rely on their expertise. You'll be able to see more of the work I've done to the car since I've had it back home in the Part 2 video. I'll have it done in about a month or so. My expertise area if you will is mainly in the body and paint areas. I can't wait til the car gets to that stage of the build.
@@SpeedandChromeTV I look forward to your second video. I was not bashing you, the average Joe like myself could never afford a build like this. I appreciate the skills of pro builders as that is their job.

Not yet. I had to bring the car home from the shop it was at due to fire evacuation. It will be going back soon.
Trosley + Roth...I see what you did there :)
Yes, Dave does some great artwork.
FE would of been ideal.
FE would have been rad. But this is a budget build and I went with what I had. Can always change the engine later.

Who did the graphic design ? Looking for a designer to do some for my 57.
Hey Randy, if you are referring to the Illustration it was done by Dave Cusimano. If you look down the list of comments you'll find his name.
