I use "body type" as a reference sometimes simply because it does make a difference in how a trend looks on me, personally. There are certain outfits that just really look good on a slender body type. And I've had to learn to intentionally look for my curvy body type because something I've noticed is more often than not, outfits we "love" on others typically look as good as they do because the trend is emphasizing the best features of that particular body type. We have no obligation whatsoever to emphasize our body type's "best" features, but, admittedly, that's generally what we attracted to most with trends. Barrel jeans are my favorite jeans 😭 I’m a rectangle and barrel jeans make me feel like I have cute wider hips!! Like I’m so thankful for this trend bc I found my jeans for life.
That's great! They can look so cute on some people, glad you're able to rock them! I'm the complete opposite, though. I'm pear shaped so I already have proportionally wider hips. On top of that I'm quite short. Barrel leg jeans emphasize my hips even more, making me look cartoonishly disproportionate AND even shorter. Probably the cut of clothing that looks the worst on my body.
As a girl with broader shoulders and not much hips, I love barrel jeans. They ballance me out real well. Nothing too dramatic, just the slightly curved ones
As someone with bigger hips and substantial hip dips, I LOVE barrel jeans. Other jeans tend to make my torso look very round and pronounced and make my legs look too small for my body 😅
Seriously consider investing in Wolford wool tights! You CAN wear dresses in a cold climate fall! I basically lived in dresses and skirts last fall/winter. What you need is a pair of thermal or generally thick tights. Or you can layer a couple of pairs together. You can layer a dress over a turtleneck, a cute collared button-up, or both. You can also layer a sweater, a cardigan, a wool coat or a warm jacket over. Or any combo of those. Scarves are a great accessory that look cute and provide warmth. Tall boots are also pretty great.
Layer! My mom wears lots of dresses and skirts and the key to making it work when it gets cold here (as in, -12F cold) is to layer. You want warm tights or leggings, a skirt under everything else (can be showing or not showing depending on style) and then another skirt or a dress. Look for warm fabrics like flannel or wool. Long socks over the tights or under the leggings helps a lot, too. If you know how to sew, sewing a liner into the skirt to make it retain heat better also works wonders.

Same. Green is underrated and I require more of it. I will never understand why, statistically, red is the most popular color. Not hating, just... why?
I came to a critical mass in terms of having way too many clothes, so I divided it all up into seasons. My idea of fall is the purples and greens, going into the darkest, duskiest colours I wear all year even though I never go all the way to black. I love sweaters and textures when the leaves fall. This year I’m feeling inspired by goblincore and I would love to find corduroy, along with intricate sweaters and leg warmers.
@@hollyerin897 ok. I tend to wear the ‘warmest’ colours, like greens and rose pinks and purples, as the weather gets colder, but I choose the darker colours as the nights get longer. When do you start celebrating/thinking about fall?? One thing I realized that may contribute to me thinking about Fall "early" is Back to School always started the second week of August where I lived so the idea of summer always ended basically early/mid August and since it stays warm until November in SoCal it wasn't like we needed to wait until the weather changed 😅
I have a vintage bomber and windbreaker collection - I love a jacket. I get excited when we start having 'crisp' mornings in the UK because I can wear them all again!
I start thinking about fall toward the end of August and moving totally summer things out of my closet (such as a pale blue seersucker dress that I love but just doesn't feel right now (even though it's still 103!).
I start thinking about it in July- when the retailers start putting out fall like hobby lobby and bath and body works. I don’t actually start wearing fall colors or using fall fragrance until late August
Here in Texas we go back to school early too (probably temperature related both here and in CA)! I think its fall if its under 100 for more than a week straight😂
Omg last week I thrifted a pair of barrel jeans, my closet was in desperate need of some denim and after trying on EVERY jean in the store that was my size, te barrel jeans looked the best, they were exquisite, super comfy, fitted like a glove, just one of the best jeans I’ve had in my life. But I had no idea they were a trend??? Like, I had never heard of this style of jean before buying them, and now you are talking about it?? Oh how funny is the world sometimes
I just met you and I have to say that I love the way you express yourself. I'ts very pleasant listening to you ✨ Also, I am grateful for the "trends"! There are times when I feel like dressing "better" and I don't usually know where to go when it comes to shopping things, so videos like this help me get inspired 🧚♀ Thank you so much!💌
I recently picked up a sherpa wooly coat in an oatmeal colour with a penny collar and tortoiseshell buttons, and I think the collar really elevates the look and makes it so cute and cottagecore. I still don't get the hate for sherpa or tortoiseshell, I think when done right, it really looks cozy and classy. I'm going to style it with my red mini dress, oatmeal socks, oxblood doc marten loafers I thrifted, and my lil red and green hair bows. I can't wait to style the coat for autumn.
Regarding greens! Since you mentioned in a previous video that your color season is summer, you’ll look great in greens that are cool rather than warm (meaning they contain more blue rather than yellow) and are muted rather than bright 😊 So think sea greens, pastel green, and teals for example
I would love a plaid maxi skirt i brown tones for fall. I'm also in SoCal and have been loving the cooler nights and mornings. To me, that means fall is on its way. Had my first pumpkin spice drink today!
Great video, and I love your outfit! Thank you for showing so many examples in pictures while you are talking. I'm also looking for the perfect dark red/marron bag. In the late 1990's I wore a lot of corduroy, and I also sew trousers and bags in that material. I loved my corduroy bags but the trousers got bigger after a few times so I had to wash them often. The bad thing about high neck coats and loose high sweater collars is that it touches my chin and will get stained with make-up. It will end up making that coat look unfresh, I'd rather have a normal collar and then add scarfes for warmth. Its interessting with the colour green, it came in hard for maybe two or three (?) years ago, and everyone wanted green chlothes, so I thought green would have lost its thrill a bit by now. But on the contrary its more green now then ever! I bought a lovely kale green wool sweater at half the price for my brother last christmas, thinking he will maybe get out of style very quickly, but he'll be the most handsome this winter😁
i got a pair of brown corduroy men's pants from the thrift like 5 years ago and they stay my most worn pants during fall and winter truly one of the best finds
I think forest green, neon green or gray green would look incredible on you. Also a real green would look like perfection! I love your videos! Love this fall fashion one! Fall outfits are the best
my fashion style is within the kawaii lolita and like soft girl realm and i wear alot of pinks and white and pastel colours but even so i get so excted for fall fashion XD theres so many cute pink and pastel fall items and i just cannot WAIT to wear them. im in finland is alread it is freeeeezing, its 5 c today and is been so cold
Can you make a video about your washing process after thrifting? Such as your leather Jackets? Do you take them to the dry cleaner, have you learned how to hand wash leather, silk, wool? Do you avoid those materials bc of washing?
I read a book called Laundry Love by Patric Richardson which has helped me to enjoy my secondhand silk habit even in in my wash-and-wear lifestyle. Maybe you’d find it helpful too
Torso length and overall proportions play a big role in whether barrel jeans look "right". I work at a clothing store and have seen them look SO cool, effortless, and slouchy when one coworker tried them on and then they looked wild and bowlegged on another coworker.
Your energy makes me smile. I'm here for it! The prep look was a big deal when I was in high school. Boat shoes were huge. Does the cat move? Lol. Mine plays statue.
For the first time EVER: my thrifted closet has so many on trend items that I mostly got 2-3 years ago! A green button-up corduroy blazer, a beige suede jacket, boat shoes (sketchers platform too!), and the long skirts🥳 yay for not having to shop for this fall!!!
I love your trend videos!! It’s hard for me in my late 40s to know what’s trending because my office, where I see a lot of people, people don’t generally wear trendy clothes, or some do but not enough people for me to be able to identify it like when you’re in school/college. It’s weird to me that turtlenecks are back bc they remind me of being forced to wear them as a little kid in the early 80s bc my mom picked out all my clothes - I can’t imaging myself wanting to wear them now! I do like the plaid dresses :)
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
I love fall and fall fashion so much! My birthday is in October and my husband's, too, and two years ago, we got married on the most beautiful October day 🤩 Barrel jeans look so terrible on me 😄 but I have been loving green for a few years now and so happy when it's trendy now😃 especially the tones that are exactly my eye colour. And corduroy pants have been my favourites for all of my life. Never goes out of style for me!
In the later 2000s, everybody had Sperry boat shoes. If you didn't have Converse/Vans, you had Sperrys. It was the preppy look. They were cute then. I may revisit them, but mary-janes will be my next purchase.
I relate to the boat shoes thing so much haha, there's a band I never got into, not cos it was bad, but because it reminded me of someone I disliked who used to be obsessed with that band.
18:22 I thrifted a pair of brown buckle loafers that look almost exactly like this!! I've been wearing them regardless of season tbh but yes they will be the perfect fall shoe
7 years ago I bought a sweater from a fast fashion brand. It's a plain off-white knitted sweater but every fall and winter I make SO MANY outfits with it! I put different button ups under it, different high necked shirts under it, I pair it with jeans and skirts. I wear the shit out of it and somehow it's still not tearing or getting ruined. It obviously doesn't look brand new anymore. But if you pay attention to what KIND of fast fashion you buy (leave the goddamn organza on the rack) you can wear it for so long!!!
Boat shoes takes me back to 1989-1992 when if you didn't have Eastland or Bass boat shoes, you were no one! Also, at the same time, Penny Loafers with the penny in the band always with white socks, scrunched or foldovers
I live in Australia so we’re going into spring this week but i loved my knee high boots this winter/ autumn like everyone else and their mums. Really looking forward to wearing gingham and plaid in spring tho! And i understand what you mean about it not getting cold for a long time, it’s winter and I’ve been wearing my summer mini dresses out maybe bringing a cardigan with me 😂
I just found a true liquid leather jacket at a an antique shop for $40. It’s real leather and just super old , if it was a high quality piece in the first place it should only get softer and softer . Definitely check your cutty antique shops that may not appear to sell clothes!!!!❤
I’m literally the same with the silver jewelry. I’ve always been a golden girly but recently (especially with summer) I’ve just wanted cool-toned jewelry. -also this was my favorite trends video you’ve ever made. I related so much to your thrift wish list lol
Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
I have the problem that for the sake of fashion I LOVE coats and jackets and have lots of them, but I also love the cold and being cold so even though we get real fall weather here (down into the 40s on average) I am so thrilled about it not being hot anymore that I just wear short sleeves and jeans all fall. I have some new flannel shirts and a few fun jackets though so I'm going to try to dress for the weather this year, at least a little!
Silver is also an investment. My husband has bought five vintage Gucci jewellery pieces in silver in the last week. Always try to buy pieces that you will love and value forever. Real metals will not loose value and they last way much longer. That’s my advice to any trend is, if you have a core quality wardrobe, you can easily switch anything up with a few cheap throw aways so you can be on trend. Let’s be honest, look at any trend and you will have items in your wardrobe that you can accessorise with new items. I have spent a lot of money on fashion and one of my best friends is a fashion designer. She spends money on high quality timeless pieces, but she ALWAYS looks amazing. She is effortlessly chic, wanna do a video with her. X
Ok I don’t know if “burkinification” is the official name of this trend but I feel like it’s not a good name because for ME personally the personalization of the bags and phones with trinkets is inspired by Japanese girls with their school bags or everyday bags with trinkets and their clunky phones and cases like it’s almost gyaru too in a way
I like most of these trends already been doing the green and the silver jewellery! I have green eyes too and can't stop wearing it cause I've been told it looks nice on me. Always loved silver jewellery
I have nothing against boat shoes, but I did thrift a pair a few years ago that I had to re-donate. The reason--the bottoms of those shoes are SO slippery, esp when they are vintage. So the photo you showed of the ones w a chunky lug sole are tempting me!
I don't know if it's because you mixed in some things you're specifically excited for inbetween the mainstream trends, but I'm genuinely excited for many of the things mentioned in the video! Plaid, colorful turtlenecks, suede, velvet, corduroy, different shades of green... I mean, that already sounds like my usuall fall style! I've also been looking for both fitted 40s-50s style blazers AND peplum tops in the last few months. Pleasantly surprised to see it's an actual trend! Barrel jeans, cow hide and toe shoes, though... I definitely don't like those.
Big fan of your cat just laying on the floor like a slug

I have a vintage bomber and windbreaker collection - I love a jacket. I get excited when we start having 'crisp' mornings in the UK because I can wear them all again!
Around now I start thinking about it. I celebrate it in October!
I just can’t wait to wear sweaters, long sleeves, and sweatshirts! It’s my favorite time of year for so many reasons
as someone with a more muscular body type, i absolutely LOVE barrel jeans. bought a pair on impulse and they make me look and feel great!
I thrifted a few cute vintage jackets through the year and I can't wait to wear them! And combat boots! Fall and spring fashion are the best ❤
Fall fashion>>>
I love the summer-fall transitional season!
This fall is gonna have some good trends!
My second grade teacher had a cowhide miniskirt that I was obsessed with; i may need to channel Mrs Taylor vibes this autumn!
I'ts very pleasant listening to you ✨
Also, I am grateful for the "trends"! There are times when I feel like dressing "better" and I don't usually know where to go when it comes to shopping things, so videos like this help me get inspired 🧚♀
Thank you so much!💌
I recently picked up a sherpa wooly coat in an oatmeal colour with a penny collar and tortoiseshell buttons, and I think the collar really elevates the look and makes it so cute and cottagecore.
I’m thinking of making one…maybe I’ll have to send Alexa one too if I can find the fabric!
I bought a lovely kale green wool sweater at half the price for my brother last christmas, thinking he will maybe get out of style very quickly, but he'll be the most handsome this winter😁
much love from Spain!!!! you’re the best 🫶🏻
i got a pair of brown corduroy men's pants from the thrift like 5 years ago and they stay my most worn pants during fall and winter truly one of the best finds
Fall means time for Alexa’s vintage Halloween sweater collection!! Can’t wait 🎃👻❤
I just took them out of storage yesterday!!!! 🎃
@@alexasunshine83 Yes! I have a few vintage Halloween & fall sweaters I can’t wait to break out once it’s cooler out 🎃👻🍁
I think forest green, neon green or gray green would look incredible on you. Also a real green would look like perfection! I love your videos! Love this fall fashion one! Fall outfits are the best
The way your cat is laying in the background at the 6 minute mark gave me such a chuckle, the kitty is 2 Dimensional lol. Loved this video!!
my fashion style is within the kawaii lolita and like soft girl realm and i wear alot of pinks and white and pastel colours but even so i get so excted for fall fashion XD theres so many cute pink and pastel fall items and i just cannot WAIT to wear them. im in finland is alread it is freeeeezing, its 5 c today and is been so cold
3:54 ive been feeling the same about silver jewelry !!!!
I'm living for your cat forming into different shapes during the video 😄😍
LOL the phone charms and buttons and chains/ribbons on bags really takes me back to junior high and high school. Love it!
Silver is coming back from the 90’s we ONLY wore silver gold was so passé and mature.
Literally couldn't wait for sunday's when you post ❤
I hunted for a black and silver belt for like a year and it was absolutely worth it. To me it mixes perfectly with dark and cold toned outfits
i love how you show size inclusive Pictures of the trends
Nobody looks good in barrel jeans 😂 but sometimes we don't wanna look good we wanna look ~fashion~
For the first time EVER: my thrifted closet has so many on trend items that I mostly got 2-3 years ago! A green button-up corduroy blazer, a beige suede jacket, boat shoes (sketchers platform too!), and the long skirts🥳 yay for not having to shop for this fall!!!
Hii you should try pastel green, jade, emerald green or opal green 💅🏻💅🏻you will slaaaay ✨
Fall definitely hits different for me in SC than it did when I was growing up in NH…😂
Yeah…night and day there! I live in central Texas and my daughter lives in Pittsburgh so I understand the extremes!
@@csjkscs Northern Fall is the best! ❤️
The kitty in the background is beautiful.
as a local, that part about living in southern california is so real. it’s HAWT in october 😢
I love fall and fall fashion so much! My birthday is in October and my husband's, too, and two years ago, we got married on the most beautiful October day 🤩
Barrel jeans look so terrible on me 😄 but I have been loving green for a few years now and so happy when it's trendy now😃 especially the tones that are exactly my eye colour.
I saw a long plaid mesh dress one shoulder I want. You convinced me lol.
Nada Manley says color should be #1
Alexa this video was so relatable, I feel the same way about some of these trends, ps your cat is so adorable and very long! So so cute.
For some reason I am drawn to pastels this fall and winter. I want pink and a purple knitted sweater
Liquid leather is just fast fashion leather there is absolutely NO NEED
I'm so grateful for this! ❤❤❤
I live in SoCal as well and I hate it! I just want a proper autumn! I'm so tired of it being hot all goddamn year!
I live in Australia so we’re going into spring this week but i loved my knee high boots this winter/ autumn like everyone else and their mums. Really looking forward to wearing gingham and plaid in spring tho! And i understand what you mean about it not getting cold for a long time, it’s winter and I’ve been wearing my summer mini dresses out maybe bringing a cardigan with me 😂
toe shoes can really mess with your feet depending on a few factors so be careful!
i do have to say, this is my first time watching u, ive never seen u in gold jewelry, but i CAN tell you, SILVER LOOKS SOOOO GOOD ON YOU GIRL 😍
Oh gosh thank you! Also welcome! ❤️❤️
I love that cute purple skirt
Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
being a silver girl, I can confirm silver jewelry is addictive and definitely goes with almost everything. And the 3rd phone case omgggg
Barrel jeans just look so weird to me too. Me at 5'3" could never pull it off
omg i’m so late but you should be Buffy for Halloween!!! or maybe a Buffy the Vampire Slayer themed episode 🧛
BOAT SHOES ARE COMING BACK?! Not that I ever stopped wearing mine, but now I'll be on trend again.
I have the problem that for the sake of fashion I LOVE coats and jackets and have lots of them, but I also love the cold and being cold so even though we get real fall weather here (down into the 40s on average) I am so thrilled about it not being hot anymore that I just wear short sleeves and jeans all fall. I have some new flannel shirts and a few fun jackets though so I'm going to try to dress for the weather this year, at least a little!
alexa's intro song is the only intro song i'm never ever skipping
I love fall.
Looking forward too waring my cosy sweathers again
Same problem with hot weather in fall, I live in Hawaii. So your take on things helps
Ok I don’t know if “burkinification” is the official name of this trend but I feel like it’s not a good name because for ME personally the personalization of the bags and phones with trinkets is inspired by Japanese girls with their school bags or everyday bags with trinkets and their clunky phones and cases like it’s almost gyaru too in a way
Like when I was in Tokyo last summer every girl had trinkets on their big bags
I like most of these trends already been doing the green and the silver jewellery! I have green eyes too and can't stop wearing it cause I've been told it looks nice on me. Always loved silver jewellery
I have nothing against boat shoes, but I did thrift a pair a few years ago that I had to re-donate. The reason--the bottoms of those shoes are SO slippery, esp when they are vintage. So the photo you showed of the ones w a chunky lug sole are tempting me!
That’s an issue where I live. The snow melts in the daytime and freezes overnight, so slippery soles are so hazardous. No banana peels needed.
Funnel neck I love it. Just found a sweater thrifting but didn’t know it was a trend. Very 60s
