I could be wrong but I believe its not advised to put dielectric grease on the electrical connector as its anti-conductive it does the opposite of what you want it to do there. However on the boot it is advised as it can prevent the ignition coil from grounding out on the cylinder wall.

Dielectric grease is an insulator and not a conductor. However, it is used to prevent moisture and corrosion on some things. I've used only a tiny bit for electrical connectors/pins to prevent moisture/water/corrosion. Been using the stuff for a very long time now and haven't really had any issues using that so far. You can use it on electrical connectors if you want, but not required although I do agree with you. It's OK to use on both the boots and connectors to make things a bit easier for next time if you need to remove them.
Some examples I have seen manufacturer's release some TSBs (Technical Service Bulletin) and recommend to put dielectric grease on the computer pin terminal connections for some problematic vehicles to help maintain good contact and prevent moisture/corrosion build up.
