Making cheap rounding hammer

Keimo is making big 2 kg rounding hammerfor blacksmithing from cheap 11€ sledgehammer.

Excellent video!! Beautiful hammers!
A word of advice- use different hammers for tooling. If you payed 100 euro for a hammer, best not use it against harder steel (chisels, nails, etc. .Let cruddy hammers do that so you can save the surface of your workpieces!
Only trying to save you from some heartache! I made the mistake the hard way once... if your hammer face is already dinged up that’s alright, just carefully flap disk it smooth!

Oh man, a video about converting a cheap hammer to a rounding hammer great, i though, than i saw the power hammer. Guess i wont be trying this. 😕

I don't have power hammer, it's just cheap log splitter forging press. I think it can be done with just hand hammer. And if you get striker with sledge hammer it should be pretty easy.

@leppicknives9830 ohh the log splitter is a great idea.
Its mostly just me doing any forging in my home but i might be able to get my brother to act as striker for me. That aside, the result of your work is very nice. I really want to convert a medium sledge into a rounding hammer myself, ill probably refer back to your video once i am ready.

Does the shape of the hammer, except for the faces, matter in a rounding hammer? Do the set-downs between the faces and the handle matter beyond aesthetics?
