@@SpanishandGo my grandpa it’s a Mexican one he’s from Mexico and he. Came to usa and he came to mexico
That pesos to dollars conversion trick, about moving the decimal point, was easily the single best tip I've ever been given on the subject. In less than a minute, , you turned a problem that I've been having FOREVER into something with an easy solution. A really teriffic nugget of information.
Glad you enjoyed it, Patrick! Thankfully, the conversion rate has stayed relatively the same since we recorded this video. ¡Un saludo! -Jim
This was a very informative video. This will help me in over tipping! Thank you!
It doesn't work anymore. LOL
Just one suggestion, the 1000 pesos bill is real and legal, but in most of small shops, grocery stores etc. they dont accept it, so in fact the most high denomination is 500 pesos bill. But in stores like Wal Mart, Chedraui etc. they accept any form of payment.
Great tip! We talk about this specifically in the article that goes along with this video. spanishandgo.com/travel/all-about-mexican-pesos
Thanks for watching!
Going to Mexico in a few days! This video was very helpful 🙂
Glad you liked it! Have a great trip. Thanks for watching! -Jim
@Yung Camo WRLD same I’m going tomorrow
Great video and very helpful. I have retired and now live in a beautiful Mexican village. I think I've finally gotten to the point where I no longer convert pesos to dollars in my head. I just spend pesos.
This is like "Fun with Flags".
We had to look up what that was. 😂 Hope you enjoyed the video! ☺️
I understood that reference

Thank you! Im going to Mexico this year for the first time and really needed the lesson!

THANK YOU!!! That was extremely helpful!! My wife and I lol'd at May's expressions while Jim was explaining how to do the math, hahaha my wife actually did the eye brow raise at the same time
😆 glad you found it useful! Thanks for watching. Are you planning a trip to Mexico soon? -Jim
If you don't need a lot of cash and only want to convert USD to Pesos, any Oxxo or Walmart will do it at almost a 1:1 exchange rate. That's better than any bank, atm or kiosk. Never use a kiosk in a mall, the airport or port of entry, you'll get ripped off. Exchange booths inside some large resorts can have good exchange rates too. If you're on vacation, pay for everything with a foreign transaction fee free card and only pay for small incidentals with cash.
Note that not all ATM cards work in Mexico ATMs. I had one kept by the machine and the parent bank basically said they can't help me. Had to rely on friend for $ for the whole trip.
No never exchange with money changers in airport give you very poor rate
You'll lose big it's not tactical exchanging money there maybe a small amount only if you really don't have the local money
I need to get myself a $20 peso coin for my collection...👌🏼💯✔
Also important if you're travelling to Mexico, keep lots of small denomination pesos bc almost nobody has change.
So smart to get some pesos at home First, instead of me having my bags with me trying to exchange when I get there .. thx so much
I know this is an older video (2017), but thank you for posting it! It really helped me.
Thank you, it helped a lot. I’m traveling to Mexico December 13th and I didn’t know what pesos were.😂 I didn’t know I could ask Siri as well.😂
Thanks for the great video. Visiting soon, and curious to know if the $20 peso bill and the $20 coin are the same, and if it matters which to use. I'd prefer to travel with as few coins as possible.
RL Davis thanks for watching! A $20 pesos bill and coin are worth the same, but you’ll see the bill much more often. It doesn’t matter which one you use. You’ll almost always be given a $20 pesos bill as change rather than the coin.
Thank you so much for this video, im mexican and i've lived in the usa my whole life and have never been to Mexico but i know soon i have to move to Mexico in upcoming years and one thing that stresses me out is the money. My parents laugh and think that if i see something say 50 pesos that i'd give them 50 dollars😒😂 but yeah this video made it easy to learn, thank you! (Y si se español nomas que nunca me aprendi el dinero Mexicano)
Same 😂
OMG that’s literally me rn, once i finish graduating school will move to mexico since want to know where i come from. Honestly, the money is the part that confuses the heck out of me! This vid has helped somewhat, but will rewatch so i can get it through my thick skull lol
Hope u do it before climate change destroy the world
Me right now because I came to Mexico for the summer and I want to learn the money😭
This was very helpful. Thank you so much. Sub'd your channel just now. Looking at 4 years before relocating to mexico.
Estoy viviendo en espana pero me gusta mucho la cultura de Mexico y las paises otras en latinamerica
¡Tenemos muchas ganas de conocer España! Saludos :)
Well that’s why your country came to Mexico and slaughter many natives.
Stewie Griffin He didn't say he was spanish, he merely implied that he lived in Spain.
España No espana
Wow.. i never knew MXN used the $ sign before USD. i always thought the sign was copied in Mexico
Nice video production and great font, too!
In the Philippines what's very uncommon to see is 200pesos (doscientos pesos) too rare to find it out
I agree.
Gracias I need this lesson bad this is third time here & mi papa handle the pesos I just get nervous here this video might help I just have to believe!!
Thank you for this video I did not know I had $12 pesos you made my day.
how much you are gonna need to spend in Mexico depends on how much you want to spend. But it is way cheaper then the USA so you pretty much make it with $500 to US$100. last time I went to Chihuahua I took $800 and came back with about $400. That was after lending cousin U.S.$100.
0:01 I thought he was doing a Mr. Crabs imitation
Hey guys, I’m a new sub to the channel so let me ask you this. In a small town, what denomination is easily exchangeable?
¡Hola, Henri!
I'd say that the $100 and $50 pesos bills are the most commonly used in small towns. :)
Thank you for watching and subscribing! We appreciate your support!
I’ve been to Mexico in Monterey, Mexico City and rural areas and I usually go to bank present my passport and get pesos. Once I was San Juan De Los Lagos Jalisco and was there for two weeks extremely pleasant weather never needed to use air conditioner not even once . Just walked everywhere and the ATM of my American bank was there. I just withdrew Mexican money from it.
20 was former average rate of the Philippines Peso against USD before 1997 Asian financial crisis
Hello, I will be going to playa del Carmen & Cancún. I was planning to exchange in the USA with my bank. Should I get mostly 1, 5,10, & 20 pesos?
It really depends on what you plan to spend money on, but for eating out and buying souvenirs the $100 and $200 pesos bills are generally most convenient. Thanks for watching! Enjoy your time in Mexico!
I went to Cancun once I got the 20 and 50 peso bills, favorite is the 5 peso coin I wish I brought back more pesos from Mexico.
i´m going to travel to Mexico, and I would like to know where I can get the 1000 peso note, do you know where I can find it?
Your best bet is to go to a bank in Mexico with a couple of 500 pesos bills. They'll exchange them for you. At least that's what they did for us for this video. Good luck!
thank you so much
No problem!
Super helpful!
The only reason I watching this is because she es so HERMOSSA
Rebota, Rebota, Rebota, Rebota!

The coins reminded me of the expression - ¡Ya se me cae el veinte!
What happened to the green 10 pesos bill with Emiliano Zapata? Is it gone ?? Haven't been to Mexico in 15 years !
It's been like 20 years since it was retired from circulation.
I have lots of $1000 pesos with Miguel Hidalgo y costillas and also $500 pesos with Ignacio Zaragoza too
Cool! Not a lot of people ever get to see those.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
:)
bro you selling one???
In the 🇵🇭 the money there is also called
Peso or Pesos
VIDEO ZONE also called piso
Not just those 2 countries
Muchas gracias para el video 🤓
Informative.
Thanks for watching!

Hola I was wondering my wife who is Mexican and my son are wanting to move to Mexico. How hard is it to get a visa as I am British married to my Mexican wife. And how much do you think it costs to live and also do you have private medical insurance and how much does that cost?
Hey David! We don’t have insurance and I’ve never had to get a visa for Mexico, but I can tell you that a couple can live for less than $1000 USD/mo in many parts of Mexico. We’ve lived on less than $700 USD/mo in Guanajuato City. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching. -Jim
I've actually got a 1000 peso coin that has Juana de asbaje on the back it plus it from the year 1987
That's cool, Alejandro! You have a piece of Mexican history then. In 1993 the Bank of Mexico introduced a new currency, the nuevo peso ("new peso", or MXN). One new peso, or N$1.00, was equal to 1000 of the obsolete MXP pesos. The value of the currency still fluctuates, just like the value of all fiat currencies, but the old version of the pesos isn't used anymore. The 1000 pesos bill is worth over $50 USD right now! Thanks for sharing that. And thanks for watching!
I like a lot of this kind of stuff mostly because I like to try to stick close and be apart of my mexican heritage.
That's fantastic! I'm glad to hear that. Not all families who come here from Mexican stay in touch with the culture. We'll definitely have more videos like this in the future.
I have a 1990 peso too Alejandro that also have Juana de Asbaje. Do they still use that coin in Mexico?
Alejandro Jaime-ruiz using that today means it is worth 1 peso. Sorry dude.
Gracias!
“pay soes”
😆 Someday we’ll make a video about this. Change accent mid English sentence and you sound pretentious to some even though you’re saying it correctly. Say the whole sentence with an American accent and get comments like these. 😂 Thanks for watching! ¡Suh-loo-dos! 🤣 -Jim
yeah, not sure why Americans keep saying "pay-soes", it's "Peso" (short e sound) not "Péso", the e does not have a forward accent on it.
We use peso too in philippines
Thank you
Well, that made it easy
Yeah Diego Rivera but on the back portray Freda Kahlo his wife
Same money here in the Philippines
You said peisos
Im love Mexico
So do we! Thanks for watching. 😃
how much American money do you think I should bring to exchange for 1 person for 6 days
Hi, Diamond!
That's a tough question, it depends 100% on where you are going, and the things you want to to there.
Jim and I are usually able to travel in Mexico for about $40-$60 USD a day for both of us.
Spanish and Go 7306 Peso is would you think that is enough
That is enough to get by in most parts of Mexico if you budget correctly, yes. Have a great time!
Very cool
Hi good day sir/ma'am! I'm from the Phils🇵🇭 I just want to know here in our country we have recieved 1000mexican pesos but there's no money changer converting it to our money. Maybe somebody can help us....I would appreciate your response. Thank you God bless
But in the PH our currency is also peso *i actually never knew we had the same currency as mexico has*
($1 is 53? 54? Peso here lol)
ElsaGaming Im late as *HECK* but many places around the world uses the Peso, Colombia is one of them, but their denomination differs,
In Mexico, one dollar is 20 pesos, and in Colombia 3.860.
(Ps also There’s Pesos dominicanos)
Some of the other ex-spanish colony use pesos as well as their currency
Bro I’ve been going to Mexico for years every month I go but I can’t understand the money ;3; and I asked my family how money works and they said something about 1.50 and that’s it
I want to go visit my dad now.
When tipping while in Mexico, do they prefer American Dollars or Pesos?
VampireElder1 pesos for sure. Saves them a trip to a currency exchange house which usually takes a big cut out of the transaction. Thanks for watching! -Jim
Spanish and Go thank you so much!!

And Benito Juarez on the 20 peso bill
That's right!
Philippines uses pesos :D
So does peso mean dollar or weight ? Because every time I ask google how to say dollar in Spanish it’s “ dolares “
_Peso_ is just the name of a currency. _Dollar_ used to mean a certain amount of silver, but now it just is the name for a currency since it's not backed by gold or silver any longer. So the Mexican peso is just the money used in Mexico. It doesn't translate since it's a name. I hope that helps! -Jim
Spanish and Go I totally get it now, thanks so much this really helped since I’ve been questioning this for so long lol. ❤️
No unfortunately they can not be used still
Hello Sir/ mam.I have coins dollar estados unidos Mexico of 1 peso 1993 and how much value of this coin collar. Thankyou and GOD BLESS!!!

So $20 peso bill is the lowest paper bill? And anything lower are coins ?
There’s a $20 peso coin, but it’s not very common to see one. Everything else below that are coins, yes. More info here: spanishandgo.com/travel/all-about-mexican-pesos
Is the Mexican peso backed by gold or is it a “fiat” currency?
It’s fiat.
I only have the $1 coin

I still don't understand how to convert dollars to pesos or pesos to dollars.
hello, plzzz can u tell me how much money I need to go to "MEXICO" "INDIA" to "MEXICO" plzzzzzz
Parth adidravidr It all depends on your standard of living, There are locals who live on less than 8,000 pesos per month in Mexico, and people who go to visit there who don’t feel comfortable unless they’re spending 20,000 pesos per month for the things they need. It also depends on where you’re staying. Hope that helps! Saludos. -Jim
I have a few 1000 peso coins. Some are telling me they are worth around $49.00 each, while others are saying they are worth .10 each. Can you tell me what they are worth please?
The Old Mexican Peso (MXP) is obsolete.
One MXN is equivalent to 1000 MXP. The Mexican Peso was revalued on January 1, 1993. 1 MXN is currently worth about $0.05 USD.

Is the Philippine Peso the same as Mexico Peso?
No, they’re two different currencies. Just like the US dollar and the Canadian dollar are two different currencies. Thanks for watching! -Jim
Last time i was in Mexico was when i was 4
Fun Fact: Dinero originates from the Arabic word Dinar. Dinar is Arabian currency. Peso originates from Paisa.
Mexican banknotes are beautiful
I have 20000 pesos note mexico please tell me about the value
That would be an old note that is no longer valid for general use. You might be able to sell it to a collector though. 2000 pesos when they changed over to the “new peso” was worth about 10 “new pesos” - or approximately 50¢ USD. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching! -Jim
April 10 2018 is 1dolar = 17 pesos
