some tips for the UV-resin: Get isopropanol alcohol to clean the brush or clean up mistakes. Use a silicone mat on your work surface. Resin doesn't stick to silicone. If you want a matte finish, get a matte UV gel topcoat :) I use my Nail stuff for crafts all the time and have sealed a fimo piece with the matte top coat just yesterday. Also, your cats are so precious
ohh thank you for the tips!! 🥰 definitely need a silicone mat now, also a lot of brushes died here because of uv resin 🤣 so thats really good to know! and I looked up the matte acrylic sealent from liquitex and I really wanna try that one, thank you so much ❤️
Thanks for this 🌷 I've been wondering what I could use on foam clay. I like the idea of the UV resin making the piece hard and thereby more durable 👍 Your cats are adorable 🥰
I have used mod podge, but do not seem to have the sticky trouble everyone has been experiencing. It does smudge the colors if they are dark. I started using the modge podge spray. It must be used outside or well ventilated area. Smells of a strong nail polish. It is very nice to use.
That‘s good to know, thank you! I definitely want to try out mod podge and I didn‘t even think of sprays 🧐 It would be so much easier if this works, I have to look into that 😊
So it‘s similar to the one I tried? Now after a few weeks they are not sticky anymore but so loud when you touch it 🤔 Resin is a lot less work definitely but make sure to use a face mask and nitril gloves like in the pinned comment :)
Thank you. I think the resin is the answer to keep the foam from deteriorating. Exactly the information i needed. Just one question. I want to use glass cabochons in a brooch and wondered how to glue them on so as not to dissolve clay. And also can glass go under uv light without damaging it. I will have to buy resin and light. You may not be able to help with glass but how do you attach heads to body. They are beyond cute. You are very talented. They are so perfect with all the tiny details. Dare i say it they dont look hand made they are so good. Talent!
yes thats right, glass would be no problem 😊 For the foam clay I usually use Super Glue (the really strong one in the tiny tubes) if I want to attach it to something else. But for foam clay on foam clay you either need nothing (the brand I use just sticks together) or a tiny bit of water :) Thank you so much for the compliments 🥰
Have you tried gel nail polish, the kind you cure under a UV lamp? I found out you can use it on polymer clay recently, it seems to work well. Plus it’s not as pungent as UV resin, and you can get it in a matte finish 😀
I don‘t think it‘s possible to keep its softness over time as it‘s supposed to dry out and get harder in the end 🤔 If it would stay soft it would be more like a squishy. But after a quick google search I found some people who cover foam clay with different mediums to keep the squishyness for some time :) Maybe look for „Foam Clay Squishy“
how big is your foam clay piece? :) I think the drying time also depends a lot on humidity and temperature at your place. for small pieces I sometimes wait a week and for bigger ones even longer before I cover it with resin 😊
I put the UV resin under the light for about 3 minutes each side (because I‘m a bit clumsy I like to make sure it‘s cured well before i put it somewhere) then I leave it out for a day by the window then it‘s also not sticky anymore :)
I think UV resin could turn yellow, if you want it to last longer maybe normal resin would be a better choice :) it shouldn‘t get yellow over time I heard
For UV resin you want at least a half-face respirator mask and nitril gloves
Ohh I didn‘t know about the gloves, thank you! And is the mask the same people wear when painting (walls but also cars and stuff)?

@@the.sarahworld yes I do light coats of spray. And let it dry in-between.i only do 2 or 3 coats and it is still semi soft.
And I can imagine the coats will be much more evenly then with painting it on 🤔 such a great tip thank you 🥰
Been meaning to test this too! ❤ thank you for making this video.
I‘m happy it helped! 🥰
I have the mod Podge glossy, and I have to wait so long for it to not be sticky any more so I might switch to uv resin 🤔
So it‘s similar to the one I tried? Now after a few weeks they are not sticky anymore but so loud when you touch it 🤔 Resin is a lot less work definitely but make sure to use a face mask and nitril gloves like in the pinned comment :)

UV will not damage glass. Windows shield us from UV every day :)

Ohhh such a great idea! I know absolutely nothing about gel nail polish but now I need to research it 😄😄 Thank you so much 🥰
Which should I use to keep the foam clay’s softness?

I tried uv resin, but my foam clay did not dry yet😔 it has been 4 days now

@@the.sarahworld ahh i see.. One more thing, can I know how long your resin takes to cure?
I put the UV resin under the light for about 3 minutes each side (because I‘m a bit clumsy I like to make sure it‘s cured well before i put it somewhere) then I leave it out for a day by the window then it‘s also not sticky anymore :)
Will resin turn yellow later?
