Hey there! What would you like to see in a theoretical remake of EarthBound Beginnings? I'd love to hear your thoughts down below. Edit: I sincerely apologize for the previous thumbnail. EarthBound Beginnings is not a “mess,” nor do I consider it one. I simply put that word as a buzzword, essentially creating misleading clickbait (which I strongly regret). I honestly feel that the game is good, even by today’s standards, and when compared to the rest of the games released in its time period, I feel it is one of the greatest games ever made. That’s not to say that it’s perfect, however, and this video aimed to point out the game’s flaws and propose theoretical solutions to those flaws. This absolutely should have been explained better in the video, and once again I sincerely apologize for not doing so. While I don’t necessarily disagree with the points I made in this video, I feel that I was far too harsh in explaining them and made me seem like someone who dislikes the game. However, I truly do love the game and it is one of the most important games I’ve ever played- but this is hardly explained in the video. I came across as someone who dislikes the game and wants to hate on it, which I assure you is not the case. I am someone who loves this game and wants to dissect, analyze, and critique the game simply because that's what I enjoy doing. Conclusion: EarthBound Beginnings is a good game with many flaws. In this video, I aim to point out those flaws and propose theoretical solutions to those flaws. Thank you so much for the recent feedback. I promise my future content will never have the same issues. I hope the video is still enjoyable :)
Yes on screen characters, less/no grinding, and nerfed Mt. Itoi. Duncan's Factory needs to be less confusing, and that's it. By the way, there is a side quest in Earthbound Beginnings, which gives you infinite Mouthwash. I can't wait for the EarthBound let's play! (are you going to get SoK?)
I did the mouthwash sidequest, it was hilarious. I should have stated that I wanted to keep all current side quests, because I love the two that are present already. I’m glad you’re excited for EarthBound! I do plan on getting the Sword of Kings. That’ll be an interesting episode haha.
A backpack system would be GREAT. Imagine getting backpacks wich can be put in the inventory and function as additional storage. Like the Ender Chest or Shulker Box from Minecraft. It would be EPIC.
Mother is pretty good for a Nes game, but I think it could really go for a remake. Though even still, I probably like in its current state a lot more than most do.
I especially loved your comments about battle structure diversity. A lot of the combat during my playthrough of Earthbound Beginnings quickly devolved into a game of pressing "A" repeatedly (I didn't feel as though I had enough inventory slots to really get much use out of Lloyd's items). That and also the totally legal system I was playing on didn't have a fast forward function like the totally legal systems I played the other 2 games with, so tedious battles felt even more tedious.
I hope whenever we get some sort of Mother 1 remake, whether it is Encore or any other project, that the story is faithful, and that the dark and creepy parts of the game such as Spookane, Youngtown and the kidnappings are kept or enhanced to make them even more dramatic.
Hey man. Found your videos through browsing the web. I had run out of Mother content. Your videos are so so so entertaining and well edited. The likes and views will rightfully come to you in due time
I decided to finally try to get into the Mother series and guess what? I started with this one. I loved it. It was painful, but I absolutely loved it. I can't wait to play Earthbound and Mother 3
I agree with just about everything! While I love the story, I would make a few changes to it. Mainly, I would differentiate it even further from Earthbound sort of like what Mother 3 did. I think interacting with Giygas' army as characters (sort of like the Pig Masks), finding notes George left behind about his time in the spaceship/what he learned about PSI, making Magicant as a location more central to the plot and more varied (it isn't real, after all, so the designers could really just go nuts), and maybe even seeing Giygas once in awhile instead of just having him appear way at the end of the game. I'd also LOVE if the Mother ship was an actual dungeon leading to Giygas' room. The design of it looks perfect for exploring and it would be an awesome place to pack in a lot of lore.
Those are all fantastic ideas! I especially like the idea of interacting with Giygas’ army- I would love if starman were fleshed out. I also like the idea of the mothership being a dungeon! That’d be a much better lead up rather than just a thin path with some people in alien tanks.
Oh snap, he's evolving! So I'm pretty sure 4:30 was my exact reaction when I looked up Duncan's Factory map. Earlier teleport is probably what I'd like the most from these edits. Years of access to Fast Travel has spoiled me. lol Oh, and Mother Encore somehow slipped my mind. Thanks for the reminder. (Here's hoping they let Pippi keep her insane strength.)
Evolving- haha. I’m glad I was able to capture the “magic” of Duncan’s Factory. I too hope that Pippi is still broken in Mother Encore. That’s one of the game’s coolest secrets.
Can you do a What if Netflix makes an Animated Adaptation of EarthBound Beginnings similar to like they did with Castlevania starting from Castlevania III? I would like to see what you point out. I might see Ninten gets a slight redesign to make less confusing with Ness, maybe add some connections and references from EarthBound and Lucas's game, maybe give more PG-13 swearing, maybe extend for four seasons with eight episodes each showing what Ninten was doing after beating Gyigas, maybe give each playable characters personalities, and give Ninten the Juste Belmont treatment in Ness's story like maybe Ninten be Ness's teacher since it's 10 years apart.
As far as story goes I think it has a really cool one but I wish as far as the way it was told that it wasn’t just a bunch of confusing vague elements that are then all given context at the end, there should be more of a draw than just “collect all the songs so you’ll find out what everything means when you’re done” It’d be really cool if finding out what happened to George and Maria was more a part of the plot rather than solving the mystery being the players job from just reading random npc dialogue. Also introduce Giygas earlier as a concept so it’s not just “we gotta find out what’s causing all this!” Until the very end
@@Nillerz Maybe Ninten after getting George's diary (The GGF Diary) could click through actual pages in some sort of menu and notice it had missing pages. Throughout your journey you find different pages of it scattered throughout the world that are all out of order and give context for one bigger story and deliver gameplay tips that are his "Research on the Supernatural" like an ingame players guide and monster manual, different unneeded pages that give little fun lore bits could be hidden in usually untraveled areas of the map like the korok seed type thing you were talking about.
Idk man, the games leaving things up to interpretation is one of my favorite aspects about Mother 1 and 2. I get wanting the game to execute it's ideas better, but changing the ideas themselves sounds like sacrificing Itoi's artistic vision in favor of yours.
@@quadpad_music im not saying the game should be like totally different its just a little directionless, everything feels random despite having a connection but you wouldn't know that until you finish it, like why are aliens attacking? oh just beat the whole game
Great analysis! I feel like most NES RPGs haven't really aged too well as they were really just getting their footing and they also had to work with system limitations. That being said, a remake of _Earthbound Beginnings_ (and possibly even _Earthbound_ as well) would be great to (re)introduce the Mother series to fans (new and old). Perhaps if the remakes also were successful, they could also make an official release of Mother 3 (either remake or bringing it officially to Switch Online).
I totally agree. I think a remake of EarthBound Beginnings is the best thing that could happen to this series as it’d be a the best way to introduce newcomers to the series.
I loved this video! One of my main problems with the game is Lloyd and his items, to me they do virtually no damage and you'd be better off using his regular attack which is laughably weak. I think buffing the items like bombs, bottle rockets, and the beams would really do him some favors, other than that I loved your ideas for a remake of this game, including the claymation style 😁
Not sure how I feel about all this. Part of what makes Earthbound Beginnings so unique is the giant size of the maps. Some of the dungeons like Duncan's Factory are clearly unacceptable, but areas like The Swamp really feel alive and enjoyable. The random battles are way too frequent and they don't give enough exp. More bosses need to be added and there needs to be a "revive" item.
I know you're making these suggestions in jest but I honestly believe that the gameplay would benefit with added exploration if the enemies didn't scale levels. It would like Fallout New Vegas, where a skilled and equipped player could overcome certain obstacles with an added challenge in exchange for accessing certain areas sooner. This way players would be incentivized to go the traditional route for an easier playthrough and clever, experienced players can attempt to make their own shortcuts by facing more dangerous areas sooner.
Ooh, interesting! I hadn’t thought of that, but that might work. If the combat system was indeed how I described it in the video, I think your idea might be best for the game as it’d allow for a higher skill ceiling.
The second you said to add lots of sidequests I knew what kind of guy was making this video. Also, the strong enemies are like the ONE thing that should stay jank, it's just wrong without it.
I would like to see better boss fights. That Star Man in Halloween was flawed. The dragon could’ve been stronger also. It also would’ve been nice to see one of those robot enemies like the one who we fight with EVE and the one in the desert. I know it’s Spookane but I played a fan translation.

This is the most underrated channel i've ever seen, every joke was perfectly done. Bigfoot with One Winged Angel playing in the background got me good
