The whole Trinity The Tuck situation was so wild to me, like why where the fans harassing Trinity just cuz she did a photshoot that honored Ru??? It shows how the fanbase enjoys destroying someone's career as opposed to holding ppl accountable
they, for some reason, think destroying someone's career IS the accountability. There's no middle ground most times i swear.
I know he can be problematic, but for some reason I can't bring myself to hate RuPaul. I've loved him since Supermodel came out in '93. He basically introduced me to drag. I just think he let fame and success go to his head and has kind of lost touch with reality. I'm not trying to be a RuPaul apologist, he should definitely be called out when he says or does questionable stuff. But I still appreciate his legacy and the way he brought drag into the mainstream. Plus he's a damn good TV show host, like it or not, and I enjoy watching him on Drag Race.
@Medioo meh the worst thing he’s done was the fracking and with regards to the trans comments, the show wasn’t made with that kind of drag in mind, it was a drag Queen competition at the shallowest level of drag and the narrowest definition of drag.
@Medioo he rlly doesnt do anything that bad...
He’s not as bad as Tyra Banks and other TV hosts
@Medioo most of the stuff u said was debunked… and the fact you’re putting rupaul on a pedestal to speak on racism when he himself is a person of color… maybe look at yourself
I mean i respect rus career but not him as a person
(Fair warning: super-long comment, but interesting if you're a RuPaul fan).
Surprisingly, the key to RuPaul's success was to scrub every bit of herself and her image free of anything controversial, anything that could be remotely sexual, or anything that could remind anyone that she was anything more than a novelty. She became the Disney-fied version of a drag queen and for most of her career, her continued success has always been precariously balanced atop a pedestal that could be kicked out from underneath her at any time. Having to constantly tiptoe on glass couldn't have been easy, but it did afford her opportunities that no drag queen in history had ever been afforded and shortly after having first been glimpsed by the rest of America, she was a household name. Yet for as beloved as she quickly became and for as enthusiastic as her audiences were shouting "LOVE!" back at her, she also quickly found that just one toe out of line could toss her out of the stratosphere quickly.
While putting together the roster of celebrities that would present at the event, the producers of the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards knew they had to include RuPaul. She'd become as close to universally beloved as just about anyone in pop culture history, but they struggled with whom they could have walk out on stage and present an award with her. How anyone thought the decision they arrived at was a good idea is mind-boggling, but to complement their new, sparkly, larger-than-lifesize doll, MTV settled on Milton Berle.
For those unfamiliar, Milton Berle was a legendary comedian in his eighties at the time. The only common thread "Mr. Television" had with "Miss Thang" was that he'd famously dressed in gowns for comedic effect in his heyday. And - big surprise here - when he and RuPaul met the day of the VMA's, he came across as anything but respectful. There was a big difference between what he did and what RuPaul did and after all his years in the business he surely couldn't have been expected to take her seriously. In addition to an incident that veered too closely to sexual harassment, Ru also bristled when she learned her octogenarian counterpart had also written all of the jokes loaded into the teleprompter. They were cheesy and demeaning to her. But she held her tongue until the two walked out onstage to much fanfare.
After playing along jovially with Milton's borscht belt humor and his jabs at her, Milton started telling what he surely thought would be the big rimshot: "You know, RuPaul, I used to wear gowns myself." To which RuPaul's cue on the teleprompter read: "But why did you give it up Uncle Milty?"
But that's not what RuPaul said.
"That's funny. You used to wear gowns...and now you wear diapers."
Expecting the joke as he'd written it, Milton started to laugh before what Ru said hit him. But then, just as she had thrown Berle an unexpected curveball, the audience quickly reacted differently than she'd anticipated. Her dig at Milton Berle backfired. Terribly.
Once offstage, RuPaul went to the press tent fuming. She made it clear she was pissed, but she also made it clear she found Uncle Milty's jokes demeaning and "tired." The next day, RuPaul's dig at Milton Berle was being recounted all through the media and around water coolers nationwide. The public reaction showed RuPaul had grossly miscalculated her jab at "Mr. Television" and America's love for Berle's legacy. She was being painted a bully and cruel for humiliating one of her elders.
Though it's doubtful many people saw it, RuPaul recounted the entire fiasco in her first autobiography, "Lettin' It All Hang Out," released shortly thereafter. She recounted their meeting in Berle's dressing room and his flippant attitude towards her, but the incident and the public's reaction to it veered dangerously close to ending RuPaul's ascent. It was a strong reminder that regardless of her massive success, she was by no means a permanent fixture in the upper echalon. She could have that pedestal kicked out from under her at any moment and unless she played by everyone else's rules, she'd find herself right back in a life of relative obscurity she'd fought so hard to leave behind.
On one of RuPaul's first television appearances, an episode of Arsenio Hall's popular talk show, RuPaul shared a metaphor describing how mainstream pop culture in the United States often closely mirrored the political landscape of the time, rocking back and forth like a swinging pendulum. It was a very accurate assessment of how the nation looked in the early 2000's. RuPaul had conquered almost every facet of the entertainment industry from television to publishing and yet still sank into obscurity at the turn of the millennium. She'd also commented on how each decade has one or two defining drag stars: The 1970's had Divine and Sylvester, the 1980's had Boy George, the 1990's, RuPaul herself. It was a real sign of the times when realizing that the closest thing to a drag icon of the 2000's was Tyler Perry (as his outrageous Medea character). I defy anyone who says they believed RuPaul would make *any* comeback, much less predict that her greatest defining success was still ahead.
But, as we all know, it was. Back when she had been doing her earliest appearances on talk shows, more than one host asked her if she thought her success would open the door for other upcoming drag stars, to which Ru assured them that she would merely be the first of many. "Drag Race" has proven her correct once again and she's finally reached the point in pop culture history where her legacy is just as storied and celebrated as Milton Berle's was when he treated her as something inconsequential. She has the distinction of being the first drag queen to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and, perhaps most impressively, she is now the most decorated black man in the history of the Emmy Awards. Though her opinions have landed herself in hot water more than once, what's important is that she's finally at a point where she's actually *allowed* to have one.
God knows she's more than earned it.
Thank you for typing this all out!
Thank you so much for writing this! I agree with your last observation and with what RuPaul said about mainstream media and politics, and while she paved the way for a lot of well-known drag queens, mainstream media does still tend to villanize Drag Queens whenever they have the opportunity, as we've seen in some videos on this channel...
the milton berle moment was scandalous at the time and indeed did almost ruin her.
I didn't make it to the end of the comment but Ru was also mad at Milty because he grabbed her breast.
wow i’ve been a fan of Rupaul and a diehard fan of drag race for some years now and have never questioned or even thought about Ru’s difficulties rising to fame. Thankyou for my newfound knowledge :)

One thing to mention is the poltical climate in America. RuPauls dissaperance from mainstream media in the 2000s was in the Bush area. And the first season of Drag Race aired when the USA had a Black, Democrat president.
such a good point
as a citizen of middle east , rupaul was the first drag queen I got to know , and rupaul drag race was my gate to queer culture , so he is the queen of queens for me
I am not from the middle east, but I agree about Ru being the queen of queens. There are many great drag artists out there, but RuPaul is *the* most famous and iconic. Before her was Divine (Ursula from Disney's Little Mermaid was designed after her. She was also the mom in Hairspray. Not the one with Zac Efron and Amanda Bynes.) Basically Divine walked so RuPaul could run, blazing behind a path for others to strut their stuff on. Ru has done A LOT for the world of drag! It wouldn't be where it is today without her
Ru P is red hot! Hot fire non-stop! Who's got what he's got? Nobody! Nobody! (😅 sorry just finished watching AJ and the Queen and am not happy that there isn't a season 2! We need a movie or something to let us know what happens next in their story!)
I’ve been watching Drag Race since season 1 and it’s taught me so much about respecting and loving the LGBTQ community, especially coming from a religious background. My only issue is the show’s dare I say “unwillingness” to properly hold the toxic fans accountable. Telling the queens to just not read the comments is not helpful. Some of these toxic fans make it hard to even want to watch the show in general because with every season we all know that someone is going to get hate/death threats. It’s exhausting! And the show still doesn’t do anything substantial about it. I mean if they can have a whole disclaimer about Ms Baked Goods they can say something at the beginning of each episode about being kind to the queens and just enjoying the show for what it is.
Agreed. I think straight up acknowledging editing could help a lot. They have a very “the parents that swear Santa Claus is real and punish you for implying differently” vibe with queens and fans which means any hate that comes from their editing choices gets directed at the queens, instead of them, who are in a much better position to weather it.
RuPaul did address the toxic fans at least once in a reunion video. I do agree that they could do more but considering the producers like to instigate drama, I think they consider it collateral to the show's success or a necessary evil they're willing to put up with.
I also get the impression that by now, they hide behind "you know what this show is like" for a lot of things ...so basically, if a contestant didn't want to deal with the toxicity, then they shouldn't have joined a reality tv show about a drag competition. And while that's not entirely untrue, it doesn't solve the toxicity issue in the fan community, if anything it makes it something to work around/with rather than something they shouldn't tolerate.
RuPaul is a trailblazer and a star. Can’t even imagine how much he fought to get where he is today. That changes character and explains a lot of the bad stuff. Most people probably won’t be able to comprehend how his mind works because we haven’t been through the same things. Not saying acting in a bad way should be acceptable, but we should always be thankful for everything RuPaul is doing and has done.
this is a hot take in this (rapidly warming) global climate! i do somewhat agree with you though, it’s hard for our boomers to understand the balance between paving the way for the new generation and absolutely destroying it 🤷🏼♀️ i don’t know anything though i guess…
True.
I find the younger generation to often be ungrateful and self righteous
@@gabnel1000 I wonder if it is because they haven't fucked up enough to understand humans make mistakes.
@@gabnel1000 the young people complain a lot... Yet not many of them can actually be like RuPaul and carry the touch.

Rupaul is a legend, and we would never have drag race if not for him. I don't think we will see a drag queen this famous in our lifetime.
While Ru not being that active in social media did help her become the 2nd most followed drag queen on Instagram, it has to be aknowledged how big and mainstream Pabllo is in Brazil (and is becoming in Latin America). Every household in the country knows her name (and I mean that literally) and she really opened the gates for other drag queens. Now a lot of Brazilian pop music is done my drag queens, like Gloria Groove, Aretuza Lovi, Lia Clark etc. I know Brazilian culture is not that known in the US/Canada but she really achieved what no one ever thought was possible for such an "in your face" queer person here.
Now is the third with Gloria becoming the 2
All of this coming from Caxias, Maranhão. I've traveled trough there many times, its a very small town in the fringes of northeast Brazil. Foreigners probably dont know this state even exists.
I can't imagine a world where all the talented queens we got to see throughout the 14+ years of Dragrace, are not famous successful queens. In a way, I feel Trixie Mattel is the closest we've gotten to a new Rupaul in terms of longevity
Trixie certainly knows how to build an empire
What about Bianca?

I had a recent insight on the fracking.
An old farmer I used to know was always wishful that some company would want to come buy the mineral rights on his farm. A company back in the 70s had done so, but then let their mineral lease expire after surveying the land. It was a nice check he'd gotten during the initial lease/survey time; if they'd developed he would've gotten add'l payments at the time of drilling/mining & on the amount of product harvested.
But he couldn't have broken the contract once they found oil (or other harvestables) without a HUGE buyback cost: basically paying the company for all the equipment, all their surveying/development time/costs, and all their predicted future profit on what they guessed they might be able to harvest.
Something lots of us don't know about mineral rights contracts is that they're signed with the Current owner of the land, and then a future land sale = mineral rights are not included. (The mineral rights don't automatically transfer with the land anymore.)
So if RuPaul's husband's parents or grandparents signed the mineral rights contract, it's very likely that RuPaul had no say in it. And. Now he & his husband's family have no real way to stop it: the family can't afford to buy out the contract (even with Ru's millions, even if they sold all their land) and they're stuck until the oil company decides to release them from the contract. That probably won't happen until a couple of years after no more product can be harvested.
A deal with the devil a lot of farmers have made, and profited from, but they didn't understand the future impacts on us & our kids & the environment. At all.
💔
Thank you for that insight
The intro heals my wounds everytime
I think the fandom has a problem of not being mature enough to understand that things aren't black and white and Ru isn't either saint or evil. So if you are annoyed about something that he has done, you should also think about the good that he has done - before you start sending hate towards him. The fracking thing is stupid, they could easily live without that money as they are very wealthy allready, but I guess being greedy is only human.
Rupaul has done so much for gay culture for the new generation. The show sheds lights on so many issues and struggles that the newer generation take for granted. We need people like Ru and queer powerhouses to remind generations of the hardships we have faced. Plus with this new US Supreme Court, it can be all taken away from us again. No one is perfect and I am sure all of us have done/said things we regret in the past. As long as we learn and grow from our mistakes. People trying to cancel Ru, really need to look into themselves and see if they are innocent.
Rupaul comes from three marginalized communities, being black, being gay, and being a drag queen. The critics and supporters have no choice but to exist in tandem, because all of them can be targeted and demonized in one fell swoop. The critics must be challenged to do better (with Dragula being a WONDERFUL addition to the zeitgeist of drag), and Rupaul has to accept she simply can't get away from being challenged when all three groups have too much to lose if she decides to betray them with words or actions. In short, being a glass-breaking drag queen was always going to be messy. RuPaul just happened to ALSO be messy.
Whatever you think or feel. Rupaul is the reason for the push in acceptance and wide spread acknowledgment for the lgbt community and is the driving force behind seeing more queers on tv and in bigger roles not just side lined for a joke but we are now seeing a true shift in our culture and it’s thanks to this man
That's why I was so happy when Bob the drag queen showed his support towards Rupaul, and how the fanbase shouldn't be pinning the cracking controversy onto him. 👏
This was one of your best!
I can’t bring myself to hate RuPaul either. I just remember as a kid seeing him in drag and it opening my mind about so many different things at a young age. 🤷🏻♂️
Yes, definitely one of his best videos so far. I love that he ultimately respects Ru
Good to see a balanced view here - thank you Greengay! I still love Ru. Sometimes we all say things we regret - and it's right for people to call us out on that and we change our perspective. I sometimes wish Ru would be more open to apologising but I think he does allude to mistakes he's made and he's probably right to say that nothing he could ever say will make things right for the people who've already decided that they don't like him. The actual Queen of England has a similar view - 'never complain, never explain. I saw Pearl on something recently and she said she's so over the Rupaul drama from the show, has moved on from it, recognised she wasn't in a good headspace on the show and wishes other people would let it drop.
I had to go watch love shack and I’m gagged. Thank you for educating the children.
Woah !!!!!!! You cannot mention wong fu without mentioning the MORE iconic predecessor Priscilla Queen of the Desert which was the inspiration for the film.
They reference priscilla quite a lot on the show too iirc
Americans keep "forgeting" it because its from Australia.
The show changed the world and Ru did it with his bare hands.
He is a human and makes mistakes and has flaws. Treating figures like RuPaul like they have no right to individuality and mistakes. Flaws make us human and I love RuPaul for his.
❤️❤️❤️
THIS, people act like celebrities are suppose to be perfect and these fans are so out of touch of reality. Everyone fucks up, we're human.
I thank Ru for what they've done for the queer community but I really do only watch RuPauls drag race for the queens

Good that you’re doing that because thats exactly what Ru wanted you to do, that’s the whole point of why he created the show.
@@onelove1446 lotta her fans didnt even know her from drag race tho..
let me say this -- regardless of azealia's ethics and behavior, call me mother absolutely ripped from the big big beat (whether it was done intentionally or not).
I remember on Oprah’s interview where are they now with Ru he said he could quit drag and he’d be fine. I think RPDR, is more about Ru giving back to his community the best way he knows how rather than him getting enjoyment out of it. He’s been doing it for decades, he knows the deal. He knows that Drag isn’t what he goes home and thinks about like some of the Queens who are extremely dedicated to it.
So how he interacts with other queens, doesn’t matter to him. He knows what he’s doing and he keeps it like that. Even with what he said to Pearl, it’s not to discourage her but Hollywood is cut throat, you’re only as good as your last performance, so play it up and play it well.
As a trans person I can’t say I love RuPaul as a person, but I DO love and respect what he has done for the world of mainstream drag, and i love the diversity of queens who became more famous because of the show
It is important to note that Pabllo took a lot of inspiration from Drag Race. She has mentioned that her first album's cover was inspired by a Roxxxy Andrews look.
Exactly, she started drag after wacthing the show.
imagine like other videos that have queens themselves commenting, Rupaul comes here saying thanks for clarifying everything.
i have a trans cousin who used to live in atlanta and she remembers rupaul coming to the clubs. she said that ru would come in, get people on the dance floor, wouldnt drink, didnt really talk to anybody, and then leave. she said they never had any idea that ru was hired to be there to get people on the dance floor. i always thought it was so cool that my cousin was there for this club scene and was just there with rupaul lol. and im just really lucky to have an elder in the lgbt community in my family and i like talking about her lol
What an incredible video … thank you for this contribution to education on arguably the most significant LGBTQ+ figure of all time 🙌🏻 and one of the most influential figures for the future of our world
I have my issues with Ru, but I've also loved and respected him since I was a little kid and without him I don't think we'd be seeing so many drag queens having these long successful careers and mainstream opportunities.
Also congrats on getting a ad you Betta get them coins Henny! 😘
RuPaul is truly an icon. Social media thinks tearing her apart will put them on her place instead. Just be grateful that Ru has introduced gay culture and drag to mainstream. Who else has really? No other drag queen in modern times.
He has made mistakes, and has also been affected by the way the world saw the LGBT+ community back then. If it wasnt for him we wouldnt be receiving the recognizion the Drag scene deserves. Yes he became rich doing so and has had many scandals but I cannot denny he was the most influential LGBT+ individual, so I definitely appreciate him.
With Ru and the show for what it is today it will always be a LOVE HATE relationship for me
for me personally i am able to experience drag in a way where i could never even be able to if rupaul did not make this show in the first place. There is a ton of value in that
Good gravy, my friend, you are working so hard! Very proud of you putting in the work and growing your channel so fast. Well deserved.
Thank you so much 💚 💚💚!
Never got here so early! UA-cam notifications is finally doing its job
I personally think Ru started this with the intention of the attention being on the queens. That has always been the literal point is to find the next drag superstar not the drag superstar of the past 20 years (at the time). He was and is just the face of it. I believe him not being personally involved with some of them isn't personal at all..it's just business and also real life like how we all don't converse with our coworkers outside of work. People always have to have someone to blame for literally any and everything and these days if you have a brain of your own in this community you're basically the enemy which is sad.

@Medioo they literally make everyone a winner in the unedited version thats all im saying
I love the drama bt Pabllo fans and RuPaul.
The biggest motive about we spread that "Ru hates Pabllo" its because PV always praises Ru and says how she was important to PV to be born and till today PV had never been invited to be a judge on DragRace and we are far away to have a Dragrace season here in Brazil.
it's sad cause the fandom here is huuuuge to the infinite and we have a loooot of local queens that reached fame beyond everything we can imagined, still, no DR for us, no recognition from rupaul. Even WoW puts terrible subtitles in their plataform, with subs being translated using google, where every queer word becomes meningless.
We have to depend on local queers to make good subtitles to the ppl who cant understard english prop.
Hope one day we can have DR here and proper recognition from Ru and WoW.
Look I understand that it may feel frustrating to not get recognition from DR franchise, but from what I've learned following the franchise stories so far, especially for non English speaking countries, a producer already in the country should have to want to bring the show over and buy the rights. WoW doesn't just go around from country to country, looking for new shows, they have to be invited. So maybe you guys should look for Brasilian production companies who are willing to take on this adventure. As for PV being a guest judge, girl forget about it. RuPaul never had any drag queen as a guest judge and I'll be shocked if she ever does, it's really not about Pablo
IIRC, Ru did acknowledge PV and they even have a song together. As for the drag race brazil situation, it has been approached and teased many times but was canceled again, again and again. From what I heard, it's due to the current social and political situation in Brazil, where the protection of the contestants isn't all that guaranteed, as brazil IIRC has one of the most considerable amounts of hate crimes toward LGBTQ people in the world (keeping in mind that we can say it bc brazil considers it a crime, while for some countries, we don't know the numbers bc it's considered legal to hurt/kill LGBTQ people), which prevents any network from hosting the show because they fear the backlash and possible censorship (and while drag race isn't a costly show to make, you can see how financially, no one would want to have something they spend a lot of time and money on end up being censored).

A half hour video from Greengay, you bless us 🥰
The likelihood is that RuPaul and George Lebar have little choice about allowing fracking. The mineral rights in Wyoming are often owned by a different person than the surface rights. Either you come to an agreement with the mineral rights owner or they come in and frack or drill anyway. The neighbouring 18,000 acre ranch doesn't own its own mineral rights. At least some of the 60,000 acre Lebar ranch is probably in a similar situation.
How did i just realize that the acronym for Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent, is C. U. N. T.
I love your last message! you are so kind! always try to see a good side in people.
I love the "feud" between Pabllo and Rupaul created by Pabllo's fans. They even made rupaul congratule Pabllo on her Coachella performance. I hope to see Pabllo as a guest Judge on the show!
Oh I'm Brazilian and I was even surprised by seeing Pabllo Vittar in this video, so I think some little things must be said:
Pabllo has said publicly she basically was presented to the art of drag by RuPaul's Drag Race, and would love to meet RuPaul someday.
They were mutual followers, but soon after media vehicles announced Ru was no longer the most followed queen in social media, Ru's account had unfollowed Pabllo (later, the Brazilian drag queen made the same thing "in response", but nothing ever was said officially).
That was enough to feed all the rumours.
When Pabllo was featured on Lady Gaga's Down of Chromatica, though, things got weird, because soon after the announcement, RuPaul had unfollowed Lady Gaga as well.
There's basically the most important things about their "feud", and some journalists here and there have commented on Pabllo Vittar being a no-no in RuPaul's interviews since then.
Unfollowing someone on social media doesn't make someone a terrible person lol. Who cares if someone unfollows?
What I really dislike about it is the “toxic masculinity” in the community. When I started meeting a lot of gays, most of them didn’t like feminine gays, didn’t watch drag race, etc. in the 2000s Rupaul must have felt the same way. The same peaple he was fighting for didn’t care for him.
I'm going to say something controversial yet brave, but I miss RuPaul with eyebrows. I don't like the way Raven paints them now.
How come you didn’t mention that Drag Race was Bunnys idea?
I thought it was her that came up with it?
This was such a great, well spoken video. I totally agree with everything you said 🖤
I LOVE Willam to death… however I distinctly remember watching an interview w her, where she’s saying something to the effect of “…some little f*g was staring at me at Drag Con, while I did a line of K right at my booth. I was like, hi!” When I heard that, I thought, ‘I wonder if Willam will ever be back at Drag Con.’ Lol. And I can’t remember who this interviewer was, she’s a UA-camr; this suuuuper chill girl with a soothing voice, blonde hair, glasses… just saying, perhaps “someone” got wind of that and decided to “use it” as shade.
Season 1 of Drag Race also aired on Vh1. That's how I was able to watch it. It wasn't until Season 2 that it was strictly shown on Logo until Season 7.
"Creating a new shift in the universe" i laughed so loud because its is so true ! extraterrestrial races must have felt it
Your use of Rupaul's undragged serious imagine was so f****** on point, perfect.
I'm 39 from Brazil, but kind of follow his carrer since I was a kid (his tv show was actually even random aired here in some syndcation cable, never officially thou).
So I knew his story and background, but once he ressurged with drag race (and jeez I even followed week-to-week the first season), it was noticeable a posture of not really caring bout the community.
I went through then some issues that can be parelleled, in the end all I had really noticed is that the tends to turn on you. Specially if your art relates making acceptable ... something that wasn't. For me it felt like a gay-backlash for throwing in their faces something that was primarily... shameful.
But your video, today, made me realize it, why and how maybe that guy I admired so much when young turned to this apparently heartless money making machine.
someone can be a pioneer who we should be grateful for while also being held accountable for fracking “allegations” and “controversial” transphobia 😭 you don’t gotta make excuses for him on EVERY point
Ohhhh come through Miss Sponsored UA-camr!! Good for you GreenGay xx
Excellent video. Especially the last part. Let's give people their flowers while they're still here.
RuPaul’s so interesting… in how loved and controversial he is.
willam is great. but i have sort of lost respect as time goes on, willam says he does not need drag race and has a career outside of it yet still is cohosting a drag race recap podcast. theres just alot there to unpack, and some stuff i know personally as i for a very long time was a confidante for someone in willams circle. but anyeho .
Sure Jan. And my roommate is friends with Alaskas mom.
@@problematique9389 not sure what your comment was supposed to say. however, i genuinely do have someone close to willam that i spoke to regularly. and itd blow your wig off if i shared the things that were intimated to me. i obviously have no reason to lie this is just a comment on youtube lol. but hey good luck to your roommate. lmao
@@problematique9389 i dont really care if you believe me or not, i just was making a comment on this video. hope you have a safe 4th of july
@@problematique9389 i am sort of curious as to why youd say im lying.
Just think about all of the charitable work RuPaul does. It's really impressive. I mean, where would Michelle Visage be today without Ru? Not to mention Ross and Carson. Does anyone remember any of them from back when they were actually famous for something? Ru has singlehandedly brought down the unemployment rate by three people. What a guy!
The ending statement was soo good!!!
i do not know how reliable the source is but there is a telegram channel out there spilling drag race tea and rumors/spoilers and it is rumored that willam is supposedly casted on all stars 8. it would be a gag if they brought her back knowing the history between willam and the show, but it is very unlikely that she'll accept the offer.
RuPaul is not the enemy. We are literally watching our government dissolve before our eyes and a plethora of other problems. He's an older person that's been famous for a long time. He's bound to have some skeletons in the closet. At the end of the day, what he's done for queer culture can't be denied. I think it's fine to call out when he makes mistakes, but hating him is such a waste of energy. Focus that hate on the real enemies and vote in November.
Sometimes it's not the person but what they stood for to begin with that really matters. Ru has shone a light (albeit unintentionally) on many talented queens!
I think that calling people out when they do or say bad things is important. But when they actively appologise or start to take action to right the wrongs they made we should forgive them. Go by peoples actions not their words.
People who hold grudges with people who are fixing those things just want to be mad.
Pearl is my hubby. They just don't know it yetttttt 😍
Great video! I find myself torn with RuPaul on certain issues but you can not deny what he has done for queer visibility 💖
Your voice sounds just like Evie Oddly’s
Thank you for making me feel ancient! I worked for Australias Outrage Magazine back in the 90's. We got sent a promo of Ru's album & the editor ignored it as a one hit wonder! 🤣. So I took it! Bloody fool.... Re the mentor stuff he was a Louise Hay disciple in the 90s. All love & light. Wait till Karma catches up for fracking!
Oooh what a flashback! As a teenage freak in the 90s I used to buy that mag for my best Judy because he was too shy to get it himself. And I just wanted one full of grrrrrls. As an adult he ended up buying me a LOTL subscription to say thanks 😊
Never stop making these videos!!! 💚💚💚💚
The way I had to double back when you said “historical film” 😂😂
Lol the timing between you and Paige Christie! I love both essays!
7:30 I just saw Sasha Velour girl
Omg same!
I love mama Ru! Yeah, she has made mistakes but just imagine how dull and boring this world would be without all the drag queens she has released into the world?
We’ll have something else to fawn over then. RuPaul’s not the be all end all of introducing gay/drag culture to us. There still would’ve been something/someone to get us fans introduced to it who may have been a better role model/influence on the people.
It’s funny you and petty page posted similar rupaul vids around the same time! Love it!!!
Thank you GreenGay for this amazing video! The amount of research you’ve done is outstanding.
This is so refreshingly level-headed
if the relapse of the drag franchise trend fizzling out happens again, I think it'll be good. Because it'll show who's deeply invested into the artform and creative work of drag Instead of clout for being pretty and playing dress up. cause I think the show itself has boosted the amount of drag performers we have today who's goal now is to be on the show
Who dont Azelea Banks have beef with?!
I really think we need to stop expecting people to be perfect. Sometimes Ru pisses me off, sometimes Ru could really do better, but I always love Ru. Like family you love them nonetheless. We as a rainbow family really need to put our energies into more useful and important actions.
Love your videos but that transition at 9:13 was rough lol. "He was so popular that people didn't care about him anymore" 🤔
Absolute nitpicking tho. Thanks for the quality videos!
Thank you for this video. People are so quick to forget all that Rupaul has done for the LGBT+ community
I STILL REMEMBER the first time i heard Supermodel. I was in 7th grade....i was in the bathroom at the sink and a girl in a stall was singing, "Shashay, shauntay!" and i was like, "what is she singing?" I heard the song for real a few days later and was like, "OHHHHH, THAT'S the song she was singing!" 😂😂😂 I've loved Ru ever since.
Yo @ 7:30 we got a Sasha Velour doppelganger
And also second on the left, does that not look like Jimbo?
I couldn’t imagine facing the type of scrutiny he’s had all his life. He’s dope
What is your first language? I can't imagine being fluent enough in another language to do videos, I'm so jealous 😭❤️
Rupaul is a trailblazer. No human on this earth is perfect. We all make mistakes, it's just unfortunate that nobody forgives anymore or admits fault when in the wrong. Rupaul doesn't owe anyone an apology for simply stating his opinion on a topic.
Describing To Wong Foo as a “historical film.” I’m so old! 😭
