      a stepped hydroplane monohull configuration would do a ton for it, simple as gluing a couple door/window shims to the underside and glassing them over. it DOES have a pair of lifting strakes and they help, it'd get even more release with the forward 3/8 of the hull cut off and lowered about 1/2" for a keel line like \_____-------------------

(you are still playing with toys, it gets very very exciting as you get above 80V. use a charge resistor.) Win #3 ... it's fast and handles the weight well. Win #4 ... drone recovery! Win #5 ... it didn't catch fire. (although that seems more of a personal win for you as myself and most of the viewers don't mind the occasional catastrophic fire resulting in a new and improved project). Just Kidding. Cool boat.

    @RCLifeoOn A thought - I had problems with brownouts on my car. I have a HW 10BL120 ESC and a 4,5T motor on 2S. My fault was the servo. It works just fine, untill I went over 60% throttle - then it stopped responding. Not ideal. I think the BEC couldn't handle the power and as the voltage dropped to the servo, the reciver went haywire and rebooted or something.. It was a old model but fairly "new" Futaba servo I bought on a sale. Put my old Savöx 0231 in it, and now it seems to work. If you havn't sorted it out - try running it with a separate reciver battery/BEC - or change servo.

  • @nickldominator
    @nickldominator 5 років тому +1

    I wonder if the reason the receiver kept shutting down was due to the large EMI coming from the ESC and motor. I've had personal experience with Micro controllers mysteriously rebooting or going into a fault condition where they would permanently hang until power-cycled when it was in close proximity to a 600W BLDC motor and ESC. I would try adding shielded cable from receiver->ESC, and try to add some decoupling capacitors as close as possible to the power input to the receiver. Also, running a linear regulator after the switch-mode power supply (BEC) would potentially eliminate the possible large ripple voltage going into the receiver as well. In addition, try moving antenna as far away from Motor and ESC as possible.
    Awesome video Simon! Look forward to the next one as always.

    Thank you for great videos! Awsome speed on that boat. Nice touch putting helicopter sound on the drone shots, and I love when you swear in swedsh:-)

    Back when we did RC boats we took a fishing rod with a weighted bobber to retrieve stalled boats. The drone rescue was pretty cute though.

    I think you can program that ESC to have a snappier throttle response. Many ESCs I used had that function.
    Also try reducing the nozzle to increase the exhaust velocity. You might get more speed out of it.

    Very cool model building but let's also hear it for the exceptional camera, drone and editing work. Very nice. Love the scenery as well. But, Simon, buy yourself a set of hip waders. They're not expensive and they'll save you from running barefoot in water moments from being ice 😆

    I really love that he creates his own RC vehicles and other stuff by himself and that's a really cool skill to have in my opinion

    You do need a second boat to come with you on such trial runs. A nicely low-techy trailer boat with an easy to operate trailing attachement on its rear.

    You should try constricting the jet flow with a smaller nozzle thus creating a higher and faster jet stream/laminar flow of water prepelling the boat. Just google pump-jet propulsion or water jet propulsion to get the dimension scales comparing to your jet house.

    Use a bigger steering servo with a wider double arm and two connecting rods to either side of the vectoring tube. You could also put a built-in "rudder" on the inside of the tube to possibly provide more authority or grip over the water flow or something.

    tennis ball on some fishing line for dead boat retrieval. Use the business end of a fishing pole for larger bodies of water. attach ball to string and fling. Retrieve with the reel. You should be able to program the pistol grip for a percentage ramp when accelerating. Also, 75C or 100C batteries if you want speed and smoke.
